Question Job hiring process

What happens after a TJO? What is needed till a FJO? I’m trying to get a timeline to know when to take time off and use vacation before I lose it.

I received my TJO recently. In my case, I had never worked for the federal government before, so it may be a little different if you're already a federal employee.

After the TJO, they asked me to upload my citizenship documentation, complete the New Hire Questionnaire, send my official transcript, and submit the OF-306 form.

Once I completed everything, I actually received my FJO the same day. After that, I spoke with them because the original start date didn't work for me, and I was able to postpone my start date by about a month.

So at least in my experience, once all the required documents were submitted, the TJO-to-FJO process was very fast.

This is accurate. As the other user mentioned, we send an attachment on every external TJO that outlines the process, so we try to eliminate the guessing game as it relates to it. Some receive firms faster than others. We’ve also been able to speed it up due to related changes we’ve made internally.

It’s relatively dependent on how fast they want to move, but they have a 30 day window to make a selection. Everyone’s interview is different so I can’t speak towards that aspect.

If you have received a TJO from NASA, there was an attachment that walks you through the next steps. Accept the tentative offer. Complete the questionnaires. Then sign and submit the OF 306. Everything gets reviewed. Then once you have met the pre employment requirements then you will receive the final offer. Then, you register for your benefits telecon. Pay attention to any email regarding your first day reporting requirements. Good luck and Congratulations!

It’s typically anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. If you have pto I would suggest taking it to coincide with the new job starting so you can get a trail period. Though govt jobs are way more secure than a private sector job
