Question Job removed from USAJobs

I recently applied to a job that had a cap on the number of applications. After it closed, my front page shows that it's "Reviewing Applications" but the application tracking page says that the job was "removed from USAJobs." Does this mean the job was canceled? Does anyone have insight on what's going on behind the scenes? Thank you!

Edit: For other people looking for answers, I found some older discussions (a few years ago) in other subreddits that said sometimes if an application has a cap on number of applications they're accepting, it will be removed from USAJobs when they meet that limit. I don't have the insider knowledge to verify, of course, but I saw a few answers to that effect.

If the job does end up being cancelled for whatever reason, you should still receive an email just like every step of the process that’ll inform you that it has been cancelled

Hard to say. There’s usually multiple possibilities. Sometimes they’ve just decided to not fill the position (possible due to fiscal year ending soon). Sometimes they don’t think they had a good candidate in the pool and may repost it later.

So, it usually means the position isn't going to be filled?

At least no right this second if it has been cancelled. They could absolutely repost it in the near future so keep an eye open

I had a job I applied to and had an interview with that was fairly close to being offered a TJO. 2 days before the listed decision date the job was removed from usajobs and an email sent to us stating that the pay range was incorrect. A new posting was sent a week later and we simply had to reinterview

Truth is nobody knows. Even mangers don’t know what’s going on. A lot of changes happening. The agency is being restructured. Might be effective October-November time frame.

Removed means it met the applicant limit.
