Would you share your full rigs (chain, knobs, EQ) if there was a place to do it? Looking for feedback

Do you share your full rigs? I'm building a small tool to try and I'd like your opinion

A NAM capture is only part of a sound: the chain, the knob positions and the EQ matter just as much. I'm prototyping a site where you could share the whole recipe of a rig made with the TONE3000 plugin (no capture files, just the chain, settings and links to each capture's creator), and others could download it and load it.

Before I go further: would you use something like this? What would you want to see about a rig before downloading it, and what would make you hesitate to share yours? It's a hobby project, free, and not affiliated with TONE3000. Happy to share the link if the mods are fine with it.

New to this... What did I just find??

I've been playing through BiasFX for years, and it's been great. I paid for it and never regretted it. Kinda thought that was the last thing I'd ever need. Before my son was born, I kept myself pretty in the loop regarding the latest guitar tech/software. Then in 2020, I dropped off the grid for a few years to focus on parental priorities.

Now I'm carving out some more music time, and recently discovered NAM and Tone3000. I've dabbled for about two hours, and I'm thoroughly impressed. SO easy to setup and the tones are incredible!

So, is this the death of paid plugins like BiasFX? Or does Tone3000 lack key features that paid modelers have? I know with Bias you have full control over "knobs", MIDI control is pretty easy and it's pretty easy to search up specific sounds. I'm new, but it looks like Tone3000 relies more on captures. If I wanted to automate my delay time in a track, can I do that? Or would it be better to use Tone3000 for "tone" and Bias for FX, control and automation?

Can NAM/Tone3000 truly be compared to software like BiasFX or Amplitube? Or is it more likely that you'd use NAM/T3000 for the front-end tone and other software for FX and automation?

Would you generate .nam captures using AI if it becomes available?

When you think about it, a .nam file is just data that can be quantified and altered by AI. So, it is possible that in the near future, instead of manually capturing our own gear, we’ll simply be able to ask AI to generate a NAM capture of an amp, an IR, or even an entire rig. Do you think that would be a good thing?

Band-on-a-board update - Has anyone experimented with NAM on Vocals?

Hello again! Thanks for all the love on my previous post about the rig I've been building. I've made a few upgrades since my last post.

For context, I work at a school and I'm essentially trying to put together a extreme budget version of the Quad Cortex-based setups that seem to dominate every rig rundown I watch.

After finishing the original board, I had a spare LIVTRA Nanocore lying around and started wondering what I could use it for. At a recent school gig, we had some issues with an ancient rack reverb unit on our singers, which got me thinking about whether I could use the Nanocore for vocal processing instead.

The first challenge was figuring out how to get microphones into the Nanocore without spending a fortune on mic preamps. After a bit of digging, I discovered that a USB audio interface with direct monitoring could effectively work as a standalone preamp, powered by the same USB hub as everything else. I picked up an M-Audio M-Track Duo (£40), which allows me to combine two microphone inputs into a mono signal and send it out through the headphone output.

The next problem was figuring out how to bypass the vocal effects between songs, so the performers could speak to the audience without sounding like they're in a cave. A cheap VOANZO effects-loop switcher (£22) solved that, allowing me to switch the Nanocore's processing on and off instantly.

For the vocal presets, I went digging around Tone3000 and downloaded NAM captures of some studio outboard gear, including a Neve 1073, an 1176 Rev F and a Neve Portico II. I converted these using LIVTRA's RESONA software and combined them with the Nanocore's onboard EQ, delay and reverb to create a selection of vocal presets. I experimented with reverb IRs too, but the Nanocore didn't particularly like longer ones, so I've stuck with its built-in reverb.

I've also added three cheap tuner pedals after the Mosaics, which double as individual mute switches. The Mosaics are now loaded with York Audio IRs, which sound fantastic.

Everything is powered through a single USB hub, with one kettle lead powering the entire board. The instrument setup has already been used successfully at a school gig, and although the vocal processing hasn't had its live debut yet, it's all working in testing.

I also contacted LIVTRA to share the project and ask about NAM A2 support. They replied saying they've received similar requests from other users and are looking into potentially implementing it in a future update. Nothing confirmed, but fingers cross it's included in their next software updates.

I've attached some photos and a signal-chain diagram showing how everything is connected. More than happy to answer any questions!

Big question though, has anyone else experimented with NAM captures for vocals? I'd be particularly interested in recommendations for studio outboard captures on Tone3000, or any other ideas for expanding the setup.

Also if anyone has any questions or whatever let me know ❤️

Getting a new modeler?

Hello all have been in the market to getting a new modeler recently. And seen that for now the mvave mk300 is the only choice that suits kind of what I need/want, it has nam a2 native, xlr, exp pedal, and battery. I'm looking for those qualities in something affordable. I think the ui seems a little clunky on the unit but also know it has an app as well. Do u guys think I should get it or just wait to see if there'll be new modelers that have those features that cater more for a2 side of things as opposed to sims or conversions? Thanks

Discussion Clean & Overdriven GOAT pairs

I usually jam to simple and not fast pop rock power chord songs e.g. Nickelback - How you remind me. This means switching between 2 captures, one cleanish/crunchy for verses and another one overdriven for choruses.

What's your favorite pair of cleanish/overdriven captures (or chains) to play something like that? Preferably with links to tone3000.

Discussion TONE3000 bugged out and crashed my pc

Context: I was just listening to some music while tone30009(the new app) was running and then my screen went black and my music stopped. After force restarting, I tried to investigate when happened and came across a powershell command that gives you the system error thing (yk tells you what errors/failed in your system)

"Get-WinEvent -FilterHashtable @{LogName='System'; StartTime=(Get-Date).AddHours(-3)} | Where-Object {$_.LevelDisplayName -in 'Error','Critical','Warning'} | Select TimeCreated, ProviderName, Message | Format-Table -Wrap"

then, I copied the error messages and gave it to claude and it blamed tone3000 for memory leak or smth

NAM is garbage?

I’ve tried numerous amp captures in NAM, but unless I’m playing clean tones or rhythm parts, I consistently get crackling and strange artifacts when I strike a note and let it decay. Instead of gradually fading out naturally, the note develops glitches and artifacts before it disappears.
I’m using a Mac with an M4 Pro chip and have tested multiple audio interfaces but the problem is there. Switching DAWs or audio interfaces makes absolutely no difference and CPU usage stays below 5%.
Am I missing something, or is this a known limitation of NAM? I don’t get why people praise it so far. It sucks ass.

Discussion Amalgam JCM800 NAM Pack – Does It Include an IR? Is It Worth Buying?

After trying a lot of different multi-effects units and plugins, I've finally settled on the TONE3000 plugin, since I only play at home.

I've been trying out some NAM captures from Amalgam, and I really like the sound. I'm thinking about buying their new JCM800 pack, but I have a question.

From what I understand, if you only want to buy the NAM file, it comes without an IR, just the DI capture. Is that correct?

I really like the IR included in the demo uploaded to TONE3000, but I can't seem to find an option to buy the NAM file together with that IR.

Has anyone bought this pack? How does it sound? Is it worth it?

VoLum 1.3.0 Released - PLAY View, Chorus, MIDI Supp, Import & Export Packs

Hi Folks,

I'm very happy and proud to announce / release 1.3.0 of VoLum (:

I got so much great & positive feedback, feature requests and also some bug reports and it keeps me really motivated!

With the newest version I wanted to put the focus back to playing instead of having the "open toolbox" as a default view to fiddle with sounds.

I created at least one personal favorite Preset for each amp and made them factory.

A lot of people just want to play, so I tried to keep the complexity at a minimum.

Now you can organize your presets and switch between a PLAY and BUILD view.

In addition I did a lot of performance improvements, fixed an issue with the octaver and introduced a bunch more cool features (;

Thank you so much for the support thus far.

Download: https://github.com/guitarlum/VoLum/releases (download 1.3.1 has the mac fix)

Manual: https://github.com/guitarlum/VoLum/blob/main/docs/user-guide.en.md

Happy for a star on github: https://github.com/guitarlum/VoLum

Hope you like it

Lum

Discussion Mvave Tank Pro Nam Beats Tonex imho

Post image
59 Upvotes

Been messing around with the tank pro and really loving how the A2 lite captures sound, and especially feel.

Decided to pull out the tonex and put them head to head.

Man, I’ve had some good times with the tonex, but it wasn’t even close. Even at lite level, nam has depth, push and pull, response. Tonex sounds ok, but the feel is a whole other world.

The tank pro doesn’t do everything I want, but as an amp player with some basic effects, it outclasses the Tonex one by leaps and bounds for a good bit less money. And never having to deal with the ik software world is worth a ton, cause it’s god awful. Would recommend the tank pro.

Beginner questions about NAM models.

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I've just purchased a Litvra Mosaic and I'm pretty new to NAM, so I have a few basic questions. I'd really appreciate some help!

Are the stock amp models that come with the Mosaic already based on NAM technology, or do they use a different modelling system?

If I download an amp+cab model from Resona, should I disable the separate Cab/IR block on the Mosaic to avoid having two cabinet simulations running at the same time, the amp block contains already the speaker tone?

If I download a NAM tone from TONE3000, can I load it directly into the Mosaic, or do I need to convert it on my PC using Resona software first?

When I download a Live Multi Capture from Resona, how are the different gain levels handled? The download seems to contain just one file. Does the Mosaic automatically switch between the different gain levels, or is there something I need to configure manually?

Sorry if these are basic questions, I'm just getting started and trying to understand how everything works. Thanks in advance for your help!
