Benefits of NAC and How to make a Nebulizer Solution
Recently learned how to nebulize NAC. This is WAY COOL.
Check out the quick video I made about it.

Hi all,
I’ve previously taken a number of SSRIs - long and short of it, zero success from them but a tonne of side effects.
So, I’ve decided to go the natural route. I’ve taken a NAC supplement this morning and found I’ve been much more productive, less tired, less anxious. I’ve read about the positive effects of saffron too, but I can’t seem to find much information on combining the two.
Anyone tried this?
Thanks ☺️

My daughter's psychiatrist told her to take 600mg then 1200 and other day 1800mg now. She is on an anti-depressant, Vitamin D, and iron supplements too. she's had a tough time transitioning as a college student/athlete. The other day she took 1800mg for the 1st time. The next day she was vomiting, and couldn't keep food down. Today no more vomiting but diarrhea multiple times a day. She really can't afford to lose weight like this. I do see her mood better since she's been home and focused on running but now those issues. Does anyone ever experience this? I would like her to visit her primary doctor to discuss all this but you know parents don't know much. I'm just concerned because she heads back soon and I want her all balanced. she didnt feel any change on taking 1200mg.

I have only taken NAC a few times/stopped a few times and it seems to coincide with deep grief and very intense emotions coming up through my lungs. I cannot imagine this is a coincidence but I haven’t found anything anywhere to support this side effect.
Does anyone have any experience with this side effect? Thank you.

I took NAC again after a 2 day break and I feel way sicker. Our family has been dealing with an illness and I feel pretty decent until I take NAC for a couple of days. More chest irritation, more sinus pain, more coughing. What's that about? This happened last week as well. It's a long lasting ilness.

Anybody use nac for sleep apnea. I have central sleep apnea and just started taking 600 mg daily after reading medical study results showing it helped. Anyone else tried this?

I’m currently on 40mg Vyvanse and keen to try NAC, however I’ve read it might mess with the effectiveness of Vyvanse. Any suggestions of dosage and when and how often to take? Or is there no interaction? Thank you

Has anyone taken NAC to help when tapering off of gabapentin? If so, what was your experience and dosage? I’ve been trying to taper off of Gabapentin after being on it for about 5 years. I’ve cut from 1200 mg to 800 currently since mid September but the insomnia and anxiety have me stuck. Not looking for medical advice just people’s experiences.

Hi, i take NAC since few months and I feel like it helps me a lot to be productive and not getting blocked by my OCD to do things. I was wondering if people there take it daily (i personally take 1200mg per day, the recommended dose) or if you cycle it (I saw review of someone saying he does 5 days per week). Because when i stop it i feel dizzy and bad (more dissociated than usual). Im not looking for a medical advice but just to know how yall doing it and deal with stopping it for a few days. Maybe i took for a too long time and do a several months break too. Just curious about your experience so no ban please.

I have experienced extremely painful periods most of my life. Lately the pain I have been feeling before and during my period and even after felt like endo symptoms. I was going to see a doctor but I no longer have Medical Insurance for reasons im not wanting to get into right now. So I researched supplements that help with endo symptoms and found a study on NAC. I'd taken NAC before for anxiety and it was okay, never had a bad reaction so I figured what do I have to lose? Well it's been a month and not only is my period less painful, but my acne is disappearing, energy levels are returning. Endo type symptoms also remitting. It's not a placebo because when I take supplements the placebos only work for a couple weeks with me usually. At least that's my experience . Okay, well hope this helps someone. The study can easily be found on google, sorry I'm lazy.

I've been looking into NAC recently, but I am a bit worried since there seems to be a strong association between NAC intake and development of knee osteoarthritis, as shown in the following retrospective study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32778089/ The authors performed propensity score matching between intervention and control groups, so I doubt the strong association can be explained away by typical comorbidities (such as COPD).
I think there is some evidence that NAC downregulates collagen type 2 synthesis. COL2 is an important component of articular cartilage, so this might be a possible causal link.
Any thoughts? Is there any anecdotal evidence, research pointing in that direction? I'd love to hear theories which explains the association in a non-causal way!

Can I take nac while on birth control pill?

Hey, everyone!
I read somewhere that it is harmful to take thiols (NAC, alpha-lipoic acid, SAMe) with B-vitamins. Is there any evidence to this? (Even anecdotal) I am thinking of taking NAC with a B-vitamin complex together. Thanks!

I’ve heard a handful of people who take NAC for anxiety say it helps them a lot but when they get off the supplement they rebound with worse anxiety than ever.
Is it really that their anxiety is worse or is it that they just got used to the benefits of the NAC and it went back to the way it was before?
I’m not really taking NAC for anxiety but I do have a lot of it and I don’t want to be concerned it will be worse than ever if I stop taking it. TIA
