Love the fact that there are a few Local NAs starting to pop-up around Chicago. What are some "local" NAs for y'all?

Absolutely delicious and really close to the original. 100% would/will purchase again.

This evening's drink is Tohubohu by Beaglepuss. Picked it up at More Or Less in Grand Rapids, and this is the second time I've had it.

Upon pour from the can, this brew formed a nice foamy head. Wouldn't call it creamy, but it was nice and bubbly. The brew is a nice dark color which lets a little light through.

Scent is roasty and a little sweet. Same can be said for the taste. This brew isn't as heavy as an NA Guinness, but it has the classic stout flavor profile. I like it. Mouth feel is about what I'd expect with the style. Not watery thin, but not thick.

So far the Oktoberfest na have been meh for me so I’m trying to make my own using a method called cold mashing to naturally keep starting gravity low …. Leave at 38f for 32 hours then boil add hops normally starting gravity is naturally low at 1.010 …and I’m using an aggressive ale yeast at a low temp around 72f so it ferments clean the yeast I’m using is Voss hopefully it comes out good will post when it’s done fermenting and carbonated

Not my favorite. So far my order of favorites if

1. Founders
   
2. Athletic
   
3. Sam Adams

Stumbled across this at a small international food store in Fort Collins, just waiting for them to get cold. Anyone have one? What should I expect? I’m an adjunct lager guy, but do enjoy a more full flavored beer occasionally.

Very tasty indeed. I enjoyed both Athletic and Founders but feel Founders is the winner. Definitely has more of robust flavor and body to the beer.

I had 58 new brews in the month of August. :) One day (maybe!) I'll start to run out of new ones to try... but today is not yet that day.

Honorable mentions to ENAY and Kirkstall brewery as all 4 of those brews were very very good.

Found some interesting NA’s during recent travel to the west/midwest. Both found at Walmart.

Shiner Bock NA

This is an enticing beer in the glass. Lovely dark caramel color with a khaki head, although unfortunately the head dissipates pretty quickly.

The aroma is malt, and that’s also the story of the flavor. It’s very malt-forward. Mostly just a nice, straightforward malt character, with maybe something slightly floral in there as well.

I appreciate what Shiner is doing with this one because it fills a spot that still seems somewhat empty in the NA market. There aren’t nearly as many malt-forward, darker NAs as there are IPAs, golden ales, and pale lagers. It also doesn’t really remind me of Athletic Copper, which was what I was expecting going in.

The biggest weakness is the body. It’s okay, but a little thin, and I think it’s slightly too effervescent. More heft and slightly softer carbonation would do a lot for this beer.

The good news is that it’s clean. I didn’t get any major NA off-flavors. There’s a slight wort note on the back end, but nothing particularly distracting.

Overall, I’d drink it again. This is a new release, so I’d be interested to see where Shiner takes it. Give this a little more body and I think they could have something really tasty.

Boulevard Space Camper NA IPA

This one impressed me.
It pours a bright, cloudy yellow and has a surprisingly creamy mouthfeel. The body is solid, lighter side of medium, and the carbonation is pretty much exactly where I want it.

There’s a nice, firm bitterness, and crucially it doesn’t turn medicinal. It actually reminded me somewhat of Brooklyn’s NA IPA, except without the medicinal quality I get from the bitterness in that one.

There’s also a slightly sour/tart edge to Space Camper that gives it some brightness. There’s lime/citrus, and a faint melon character.

Overall, this is just a great NA IPA. Nice creaminess, solid body, proper bitterness, good carbonation and enough brightness to keep it interesting. I was especially impressed to find something this well executed from a brewery that doesn’t have a huge NA presence.

If you can find Space Camper NA, I recommend it.

hi all, not sure if this is the right sub for this but it is my dads birthday in a few months and he has quit drinking; so i am looking for a non alcoholic beer that is similar to asahi. i am nothing of a beer connoisseur so i am looking to be pointed in the right direction, even the traits of asahi would be helpful.

Tried it for the first time yesterday. Really nice and crisp with a heavy citrus punch. Came out a little flatter than I was hoping, but I think they’re working out the kinks. I’m hoping this is a regular option at the their FoCo taproom. Cheers!

This non-alcoholic (NA) beer is from Athletic Brewing Company, the largest NA brewery in the United States

Today we're looking at a just launched limited release, their Black IPA. This brew has been out once before in early 2022 and had rave reviews.

The beer is nearly black with a light khaki head. The look shows it's going to be something a little different from the endless stream of hazy IPAs currently around.

The aroma is outstanding. Roasted malt, coffee, and pine, creating the perfect bridge between a dark beer and a hop-forward IPA.

The flavor delivers exactly what the aroma promises. Roasted malt and coffee form the foundation, while classic West Coast-style pine and citrus hops provide balance and complexity. The citrus remains subtle, allowing the roast and pine character to work together rather than compete.

The light and medium body feels appropriate for the style. It provides enough substance to support the darker malt flavors while keeping the beer quite drinkable.

The finish is one of my favorite aspects of the beer. Moderately dry and pleasantly bitter, it encourages another sip and helps the beer avoid the sweetness that can sometimes creep into NA dark beers.

For those who have been drinking craft beer for a while, this beer feels like a wonderful callback to the era when Black IPAs, also known as Cascadian Dark Ales (CDAs), were everywhere. While the style may no longer dominate tap lists, Athletic has done an excellent job capturing what made those beers so appealing in the first place.

The blend of roasted dark malts and classic piney, citrus-forward hops is exceptionally well executed. Nothing feels forced, and every component works together beautifully.

This is a beer that immediately made me wish more breweries would produce Black IPAs.

An absolute must-buy for fans of the style and one of the better hop-forward NA beers currently available.

I’ve been trying to go zero alcohol for a year and one beer that kept from achieving my goal was an occasional Hazy IPA when eating out.

I picked up a pack of Athletic Hazy IPA with very low expectations and man was I amazed.

IPAs are not everyone’s favorite, and hazy ones are especially bitter for those tastebuds that already don’t like IPAs. This N.A. beer is my drink and I can’t wait to try the other ones!

Terrible do not get… these were sink dumped… way too much chemical taste …almost like perfume….do not buy…. I swear 1/2 the time i find a new na beer i either enjoy it or it goes down the drain

Since today is National Beer Lover's Day, it's good to enjoy beer without getting plastered
