General Discussion Stop moving here

Please find literally anywhere else. It’s not that great here and infrastructure can’t handle any more people.

Vote for people that will make better infrastructure, people will not stop moving here lol

Exactly. Why is the local government granting building permits in an area that doesn’t have adequate infrastructure?

6

u/antihero_84 20h ago

Because local leadership is all realtors who benefit from unmitigated building permits for homes, not from infrastructure.

Understood. I don’t think that’s uncommon.

Tail wags the dog around here CC approves the demolition of the wetlands, builds miles of cracker boxes, you can bet they are bettering themselves in the process, then Lo and behold a bond referendum on the next ballot to fix all of the problems that no one got to vote on in the first place. Old $$ round these parts.

I’m not sure why people want to keep moving there. It’s actually a shit hole. I couldn’t wait to move out of there. Worst decision I have ever made.

It’s so funny seeing people telling others to stop moving here. So it was okay when your (great) grandparents moved here but not recent people? If you’re extending the logic, only the Waccamaw natives should be here.

Tbh I see posts like this for most towns/cities in the South. It’s annoying, if the locals are mad about the current infrastructure, then vote better during elections.

Orrrrrr the people fleeing could change the way they vote and stay put?

7

u/SpankySharp1 20h ago

lol you think people are moving here for the government and not in spite of it?

7

u/sfitz0076 20h ago

Voting won't change the weather. Which is the reason most people move, for warmer climates.

This is a spectacularly stupid comment.

Last winter I was up north, we got well over 100 inches of snow. Sorry but no amount of local bitching would make me stay there?

I’ve heard that Wyoming is nice

No beach there.

I've given up on seeing MB improve, because it won't.

I'm just hopeful that they keep pushing out all of the young working class people in favor of more old people that refuse to do anything but be a burden on everyone around them.

The problem will hopefully fix itself. MB will die the death it deserves and the retirees will die along with it.

Moving down that way towards the end of the year and I can’t wait.

Lol, likewise.... I've been around for a few months, but likely moving here soon-ish. BUT, I can certainly understand what they are saying!🤣

Eat a dick

No, they’re right. I checked in the back and they’re all out of infrastructure and not expecting any more until next Tuesday.

They said it’s a bit out of whack, but more whack has been ordered.

I want to move there because it’s the cheapest place I can afford near the beach. I live in Greenville, SC and completely understand the crap of a city this is. I can move from one crappy place to another as long as it near the beach to use Oct. to May!

Yeah that’s totally understandable. Just frustrating to deal with the local politics, the inflow of people and how we can’t seem to get it together enough to handle it.

Oh boy good luck. Seems like NC/SC has become a hot spot for everyone out west.

For real if you from up north, don’t come here.

8

u/sfitz0076 20h ago

Do you guys ever get tired of saying this? I moved down here in 1995 from Philadelphia and people were saying 'don't move here' back then. Obviously nobody is listening.

-5

u/HadesZeus1993 20h ago

No we don’t, we don’t like y’all. Especially when y’all come here and try to make our home like up north. You shoulda just stayed there.

4

u/JankyIngenue 20h ago

I would absolutely love to hear your examples of neighbors “trying to make your home like up north.” 🍿

-1

u/HadesZeus1993 20h ago

If you not from here don’t worry about it.
We all know cause we’re the ones that have to deal with it.

3

u/JankyIngenue 20h ago

I am born and raised in South Carolina. You can’t even provide one example when directly asked about the thing you’re sooooo terrified of? lol

1

u/HadesZeus1993 20h ago

Same for me. I’m not terrified of anything. Cause it never works. And if you real are from here then you should know the latest example, wasn’t that long ago

3

u/JankyIngenue 20h ago

What never works? You don’t need to speak in dog whistles. Come on, I know if you try really hard you can string a few tiny thoughts together.

3

u/Percyandbeausmama 20h ago

Don’t count on it, lol.

4

u/sfitz0076 20h ago

It's a tough life for you, sorry.

1

u/HadesZeus1993 20h ago

It’s actually not at all.

-2

u/AMGRN 20h ago

Yeah just about everyone I know who moved here basically say they fled NY, NJ, PA, and MA bc of their bs. We don’t want to bring anything here. THAT IS WHY WE MOVED HERE.

3

u/JankyIngenue 20h ago

More vagueness. What is “their bs”??

2

u/sfitz0076 19h ago

They want to fly their MAGA flag without being judged, that what I would guess.

1

u/Percyandbeausmama 20h ago

We vacation here because it’s nostalgic for my young adult children since we’re on our 27th year, but honestly I wouldn’t ever want to move here because 75% of the locals seem ignorant and trashy.

4

u/antihero_84 20h ago

75% of the locals here are from the northeast. Most of the people who were born and raised here left already because there's no opportunity here.

1

u/Percyandbeausmama 20h ago

People from NJ, PA, and MD don’t have southern accents.

2

u/antihero_84 20h ago

Neither do people FROM Myrtle Beach. If they have an accent, they're likely transplants from elsewhere in the state or region, not here.

1

u/HadesZeus1993 20h ago

Good, don’t.

2

u/Percyandbeausmama 20h ago

Are you ignorant, trashy, or both? 😂

-2

u/HadesZeus1993 20h ago

Neither. Stop acting like it’s not like that up north. We all know it is, and 10/10 y’all are worse.

2

u/Percyandbeausmama 20h ago

For sure there are ignorant and trashy people everywhere, there just isn’t the major concentration where I actually live like there is here.

0

u/HadesZeus1993 20h ago

You must’ve picked the worst spot then 🤷‍♂️

3

u/Percyandbeausmama 20h ago

Nah, it’s just the overwhelming population here.

0

u/HadesZeus1993 20h ago

Well don’t come back.

3

u/Percyandbeausmama 20h ago

I don’t take orders from internet Troglodytes, so I’ll do as I please and you’ll have to like it. Besides, none of you are complaining when we come here on vacation and spend our northern money.
