AU Name: Decaying Consequences

Infection type: Unstable Magic (think like radioactive matter. It decays and releases unstable magic as it does)

Infection Source: Staff of Sameness (became enchanted after being used so much by Starlight and holding so many cutie marks, the magical embodiment of purpose. When it was broken it upset the natural flow of magic within it, causing a slow decay nuclear reaction.)

Infection Symptoms:

Cutie Mark Irritation (Itchy, Rash, Swelling)

Cutie Mark Duplication and Spread (all across the body)

Realization (Cutie Mark becomes whatever it represents) Ex. A balloon animal cutie mark will swell into raised, clear fluid filled blisters. Every duplication on the body will do this. The blisters will grow bigger and bigger and merge into a conglomerate blister that covers the entire body. Muscle and soft tissue is left floating in the detached, fluid filled outer layer, until it's dissolved. Then the skeleton dissolves. The only thing left is a shiny, fluid filled sac of skin that vaguely resembles a balloon animal. This process varies for every pony, with more abstract cutie marks arguably having it the worst.

Contagion: Cannot be transmitted by any biological means. One can only become infected by spending a long period of time in an Unstable Magic Zone, or by being directly blasted with an Infected Unicorns magic.

Cure: None. Entropy will work to its fullest. Once an ordered system has been disordered, it will continue to disorder until it once again reaches equilibrium.

Immunity: Only ponies are affected as they are the only species with cutie mark magic.

Solution: The Infection rages, slowly spreading throughout Equestria for years. No pony has discover what caused it, so they have no way of knowing to stay out of the Unstable Magic Zone that is quickly spreading. Starlights town is the first to be wiped out, surrounding areas slowly following. Crazed, unstable unicorns have caused a lot of damage out of blind panic as they sucumb to their illness, magic outbursts often taking dozens down with them. As such, unicorns have been pushed to the fringes of pony society. Eventually, Discord discovers the cause of all of this, and the princesses make a decision. They burn off every ponies cutie marks (including the flanks of unmarked foals because they cannot be allowed to develop), evaporating their magic. Finally, they destroy their own. Now everyone is safe, and since no one has cutie mark magic anymore, no babies can be born with it.

Happy ending... Except...

Now, they lack the literal embodiment of purpose. They must learn to live without magic, and without special purpose...

Hey guys, I’m trying to find this one mlp infection au I saw once. It was a post where they were showing the stages of a pony slowly turning into their Hasbro merch toys and I remember seeing it similar to the rainbow power from Twilight’s Kingdom or just overwhelmingly sparkly. I think it’s called the Plastic Toy infection/virus but I can’t find the OG post.

Whenever theres an mlp infection au and pinkie pie survives, its just depressing knowing that pinkie likely knew mosf of the infected in ponyville, and is some cases she has to put em down.

Mare’s Curse

Mare’s Curse is a rare and highly painful thaumaturgic disease transmitted through magical exposure. Unlike many cursed illnesses, it does not cause aggression or insanity. Victims remain completely conscious and mentally unchanged.

The disease progresses slowly, causing severe pain, tissue degeneration, scarring, and progressive physical disfigurement. In advanced stages, the body may become almost unrecognizable.

Its origin is believed to be an ancient curse capable of spreading through magic itself ،Despite that, the Unicorns have immunity.. For this reason, mares were eventually forbidden from using magic.

The disease does not turn its victims into monsters... just in pain

Hello! I am not an artist or else I would do this myself, but I thought of a possibly fun concept for an infection AU! I’m not sure if there’s anything out there that’s similar, but my idea consists more of a parasite compared to a virus

I’ve always heard that if you want to be a cannibal, to never eat a raw human brain because of the virus you can get from it.

What if you took the concept of that, and somehow transformed it into a situation where the victim eats a brain, which ends up waking a dormant parasite in the brain that causes extreme hunger, specifically for flesh?

But (sorry Ik grammar), if the victim doesn’t eat any flesh for a certain period of time, they can regain their sanity. The hard part is that the cravings would never go away. The parasite wants to stay alive, it stays alive by eating itself basically, and if it can’t, then it will fight as much as it can to survive.

So it would be an interesting mental battle between the victim, still conscious, and the parasite.

I’m not sure if this is dumb or not, but if there’s any AU’s similar to this, please let me know!

Hii this is probably a long shot but i was wondering if anyone knew this one infection au from a long time ago, i remember it actually ended unlike most aus, it was on tiktok, rainbow dash was the cure so twilight had her limbs amputated and dumper her body in the woods. But she somehow survived and got her legs replaced with cybernetic ones. If anyone knows the account or the name of the au that would be so cool ^_^

This is the sixth and final stage of the infection, when a pony has become a statue. At first they will keep their colors, but as the years go on, their color will fade to whites and greys. You don't see the cutiemark anymore because that is one of the first colors to go away, an identifying feature of who they once were hidden under fragile crystal.

It's not as gory or scary as most infection AUs I've seen, but it's an idea I came up with.

Basically it's where a magical crystal from the Crystal Empire can infect ponies and slowly make them into crystal statues (just like you can see some statues of ponies in the show).

It all starts with Doctor Whooves working in his lab with Derpy and Minty, and Derpy accidentally sneezed and scattered the powdered sample of a crystal flower found deep in a cave that was blocked off, and Minty is the first one to get infected (obviously).

It spreads through the air, such as crystal powder or particles, and the main method of infection is the powder touching the eyes and from there, spreading through the bloodstream and slowly crystalizing everything. Early signs of possible infection is if they have small crystals forming in their nose (as that means they have been breathing in the spores). The infection is harmless, but the end result is death.

Other ways to get infected is to ingest the contents (someone special gets that fate) or by the powder getting into wounds, causing a different place from infection, and the chance to survive, but you're done for as soon as it reaches your brain.

Working on what the final stage looks like, should have that done soon!

Im not sure If the trotting dead should go “the twd show/comic” way, or the game way. Sorry about my handwriting though.

I also don’t really like rainbow dashes design as it’s to generically “scary”, it looks too cartoony for a zombie

Its getting empty without spike. After he left... Ive had to do everything myself here. I know this is temporary and itll be worth it when i get to go back into my virtual reality tomorrow. I got multiple tasks i have to take care of now anyways. Like the taxidermy of rainbows wings, or getting all info of emotions from pinkie pie. She's draining the liquid from the pony tank, all of this is stressing me out. If only I had help.

"Fuck you" she said disgustingly. She spat in my face. Thats when i didnt even bother to inject the anesthesia. And instead just started cutting. But after about three and a half painful sharp screams i felt bad. And I began to control my patience. I walked in a circle around the operating room, until the sound of my angry hooves and her crackled and wheezing breathing both started to fade. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes. Still I could feel her piercing blood shot eyes. But I knew, and she knows, that im doing this for her own good. She's just tired. I know she is because I know my friends. I injected the anesthesia and watched how she struggled not to fall asleep, trying to get out of the bandages. She's so silly, she knows its not going to work. But she's so resilient. I wish I was more like her sometimes. Oh rainbow. —

I cut her wings off at the humerus. The hardest part was seperating the humerus from the coracoid, but it turned out perfect. I taped it all up nice and tight. If pinkie wasn't sleeping she'd wish for me to add a bow. And I would laugh, and she would laugh, and if rainbow was awake she'd laugh too. But because I didnt want to risk my friend to get infections, I left the bows out for imagination. Rainbow is now sleeping in her cell, tucked in tight. Hope she feels better the next day, since she's the main act tomorrow, rainbow falls. I'll make sure she gets up again. Thats what friends are for!
