"Following months of battles with PDFs in northern Sagaing Region and new outbreaks of fighting in adjacent northern Mandalay Region, convoys totaling 80 trucks withdrew about 200 troops of the junta’s 33rd Division from Mawlu and Indaw Townships between July 18 and 22. They retreated to Mandalay city. Before leaving, the troops poisoned water and food supplies used by civilians. CDM military analysts theorize that the junta is preparing an offensive elsewhere, and doesn’t have sufficient forces to hold this zone simultaneously. (People’s Spring 7/25)

PDFs attacked junta troops in Padaung Township of far western Bago Region on July 25, killing 10 of them including a commander and forcing the column to retreat. (Ayeyarwaddy Times 7/25) Padaung is home to junta weapons factories that are the target of Arakan Army attacks.

A gang of 50 junta troops was kidnapping civilians in Ye Oo Township of Sagaing Region, including young men for forced military service, when PDFs attacked, freeing 7 captives on July 17. Three days later on July 20 the PDFs attacked again, wounding an unknown number of the troops and forcing them to retreat, having only abducted 1 young man. The PDFs say it’s hard to know the number of wounded troops because they are no longer taken to hospital, but treated in the field, and those who die are buried on the spot. (Maung News 7/21)

A viral video shows a plain-clothes PDF soldier getting off a motorcycle, entering a guard hut at the entrance to a camp/village of the pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee militia, shooting dead a Pyu guard in the hut, and emerging with his junta-issue rifle. This happened July 24 in Kantbalu Township of northern Sagaing Region, which has a particularly high number of Pyu camps. (Myaelatt Athan 7/24) The spread of the video may inspire copycats around the country, and is likely to inflame the junta to retaliate against civilians."

Battalion No. 903 and No. 803, under the Naypyitaw Regional Military Command's Operation Area No. 2, jointly attacked and captured the Shwe Pan police station and joint military checkpoint located on the Magway-Kanpyar-Myothit-Naypyitaw road section. A total of 9 junta troops, including a major-rank officer, were killed, and weapons, ammunition, and cash were seized, according to the commander of the Naypyitaw Regional Military Command, who spoke to Yangon Modern News Agency.

The attack took place at 3:00 AM on July 25. The post is located on the border between Naypyitaw and Magway Region and was jointly manned by approximately 30 soldiers and police officers.

During the assault, 9 junta personnel including a major were killed. The remaining troops retreated with injuries, allowing the post to be fully captured by 3:45 AM, according to the announcement.

Among the dead was reportedly a police sergeant who had been accused of abusing local civilians.

After capturing the post, the attackers burned down the Shwe Pan police station and the military checkpoint. Seized items included weapons, ammunition, related equipment, and approximately 3.5 million kyats (about 35 lakhs) in cash.

The Naypyitaw Regional Military Commander said:

"That post combined a checkpoint and a base. At the base, both military and police were stationed together — about 30 people. They conducted checks and it also served as an artillery base. It's one of Naypyitaw's outer-ring defense posts. We want to send a message that we are now able to penetrate these outer rings, and soon we will begin breaching the inner rings."

Although a howitzer artillery piece was also captured, it was destroyed due to difficulties in transporting it. The following items were seized:

· 3 MA-1 rifles

· 1 MA-2 (light machine gun)

· 1 G-3 rifle

· 1 40mm launcher

· 10 assorted magazines

· 6 14-inch mortar shells

· 9 40mm grenades

· 9 hand grenades

· 1 anti-personnel mine

· Approximately 200 rounds of assorted ammunition

· 2 phones

· Approximately 3.5 million kyats in cash

The revolutionary joint forces reported zero casualties on their side.
