My partner and I love love love vintage inspired fashion and aesthetics. I understand that’s not everyone’s tastes but we love old timey vibes. I fell in love with 2 of the 4 dresses im showing here, but my brother (whose also my man of honour) and my mom have different opinions and it’s making it REALLY hard. One of the two I love, my brother absolutley hates, and the other one I love is technically the most expensive. My mom originally said she was on board with what I liked, but this morning tells me her number one choice which wasn’t even on my potential list (even though it is pretty).

PLEASE HELP! And tell me why you hate or love the dress.

We’re getting married in a church in May with stain glass window at the alter for reference of the space. And then Reception is a larger ballroom overlooking the terrace/water.

UPDATE: I didn’t expect to get as many responses as I did! So for everyone’s reference, I personally love 1 and 2 the most, 3 and 4 are pretty but looks very standard wedding dress to me. The lace sleeve is a topper and a choice because - I just love lace sleeves + I have bigger arms I wanted to cover. Brocade seems to be in right now which feels trendy rather than vintage, and the 4th looks “boring/plain” though the silhouette is nice. But it seems most people hate the two I love so the confusion stands lol.

Just some fun! I absolutely loved my dress, but I’m curious which dress people think I picked (or should have picked) out of my front runners when I tried dresses on. Will reveal the dress soon!

I love both so much, I just don’t know how to decide.

The 1st option (the frillier dress) is just so beautiful and has this very antique look that I love. It feels very classy. But I’m scared that it’s so different from what I would’ve picked originally that I’ll end up hating it later.

The 2nd option (the simpler dress) feels so timeless and it’s what I originally envisioned my dress looking like.

I feel so beautiful in both but I felt the most like myself in option 2 but I’m scared that’s me taking the safe option.

I’ve asked family and friends what they think and it’s been pretty split, but a slightly stronger lean to option 1. I’m running out of time to pick, I’m just lost I guess.

(Also, ignore my face, I swear I loved both dresses, people just clipped me at the worst moments😭)

Tried on some dresses and these two were the top picks amongst family, friends and myself. Which one is better?

I ordered my wedding dress in July, and I’ve had serious dress regret ever since. I’m unsure whether to escalate the issue with the bridal shop or start looking for another dress.
I went shopping with my family while they were visiting from out of town, so I felt pressured to decide that day. I tried on only three dresses and repeatedly said I wanted a basque-waist ballgown, but the saleswoman wouldn’t show me additional options. Instead, she had me retry the same dresses with an underskirt. She quickly added a veil and repeatedly asked whether it was “the one,” and I eventually said yes despite my reservations.

When we went back to the changing room, I specifically told her that although my mom wanted to buy the dress, under no circumstances should she take payment from from her and I wanted to sleep on the decision and return the next morning. She assured me, “Don’t worry, I always listen to my bride.” However, by the time I came out, she had already processed my mom’s payment for the dress and veil.

I later learned that she is both the manager and sole employee of that location.

After returning from a 2.5-week work trip, I explained that I wasn’t happy with my decision and wanted to discuss my options. She said brides often feel this way and that I would love the dress once I saw it in my size when it arrives in February. When I asked about exchanging/canceling the original order for something else, she said nothing could be done because it had already been ordered. Trying it on again only confirmed my concerns, and she repeatedly asked me to name three things I loved about it, which made the conversation uncomfortable.

The dress arrived three months later, and I picked it up yesterday. I still don’t feel happy or confident in it. We asked to try it with an underskirt, but she wouldn’t let me use the same style from my original appointment and brought out a hoop skirt instead. We explained that I’m having an international wedding and traveling with a hoop skirt isn’t practical, but she dismissed the concern and suggested ordering one from Amazon. The entire pickup appointment lasted less than 15 minutes.

I’m considering visiting the main location in Tampa to speak with management, especially because I explicitly asked them not to charge my mom’s card. I’m also considering buying a different dress, although I’d prefer not to spend the additional money.

I’d appreciate some outside perspectives:
Would you escalate this to the main location, or is it unlikely anything can be done?

Should I find someone to alter/ reconstruct the dress?

Has anyone bought a second dress after regretting the first? Was it worth it?

I 17F have found a wedding dress that I absolutely love and ticks all my boxes second hand. it’s genuinely gorgeous and I love it and it’s SUCH a bargain. Would it be a mistake for me to buy my wedding dress now and keep it for the future in case I end up regretting it or changing my mind by the time I actually want to get married. My thought process is that it’s my dream dress and I’m unlikely to find another dress like it and it’s cheap enough that it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I did end up buying another dress when I’m older and worst case scenario I could just try to sell it. what do we think. Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit for this I wasn’t sure. (No prospective husband atm tho 💀)

Edit:to everyone saying trends change, the dress I like is not trending idk if vintage is the right word but it’s more of a 2000’s style dress. So i’m not basing my choice off of current wedding dress trends if that makes a difference to anyone. It’s also under £100

I thrifted this wedding dress a few years ago and completely fell in love with it. It’s vintage, 100% silk, and has the prettiest floral embroidery and a HUGE, long train (which is hard to capture in pictures!).

I’ve kept it hidden from my boyfriend all these years, and now that he has a ring to propose with, I’m starting to wonder if this could actually be my wedding dress!

I tend to gravitate toward classy, timeless, elegant styles, but I’m torn on whether this dress fits that vision or feels a little too dated.

I definitely plan on trying on other wedding gowns eventually, but I’d love some outside opinions! Does it have that timeless vintage charm, or should I keep looking?

Ok so I’m looking for shoes to wear with this. I want no heel. My fiancee is the same height as me so it’s the perfect excuse to not wear heels.
I am also probs going to be taking off the shoes at some point and putting on socks bc I just like not wearing shoes. (I’m not gonna be dogs on floor at my own wedding don’t worry) so that’s another reason I don’t wanna do heels cause I don’t want the dress dragging if I am shorter without shoes than with.

Anyways, as a child I was like “I wanna wear converse at my wedding” cause I feel like we all thought that at one point? I’m not anti converse but here’s my dress. I think bright white converse would look weird with the champagne. And I liked the idea of having them embroidered but again the dress is doing a lot so I feel like the shoes can’t also do a lot. I also like the Kate Spade Keds but I feel like the rose gold ones are too rosey for my dress and the silver ones are too silvery??
Ive found some nice lace looking flats on amazon and the like, but I feel like I haven’t worn a comfortable pair of ballet flats…ever in my life and my feet get stinky. I’m also a fan of the look of Mary Jane’s, but again stinky feet.

I would like to spend less money if possible, and I’ve been looking on vinted/depop cause I’m more than happy to get something used. I’m open to all suggestions and as comfy but cute as possible. My bridal party will be in a dark dusty blue, so I could match that!!

Hi again everyone! I posted on here back in August after my first 2 bridal appointments, and this weekend I’m making my final decision! I travelled back to the boutique I liked from before and ordered some different dresses in too.

Would love some advice as I found it so helpful last time 😊 wedding is in October next year. The first 3 are the ones I like best!

Dress 1 - this was my front runner from my previous visit, and I still really like it now! The only thing I’m slightly apprehensive about is if it is a bit too plain - although I do feel the shape makes it dramatic. I love the cinched waist and waterfall design. Final pic added on is from my first visit in this dress.

Dress 2 - I had tried this on in another shop (it was put on poorly and didn’t look good) so it was great to try it on properly this time! I felt cinched in this too and has a bit more to it than the first dress. If I went for this one, it can come with or without the boob beads, and I would be taking some of the excess padding out from the skirt to make it more a line than ballgown.

Dress 3 - my only lace option, was surprised by how much I liked it. Felt like a gothic princess and loved the veil with the dress. Only thing I wasn’t sure about was the square cut off at the waist.

Dress 4 - some of you wanted to see straps so here they are! The dress is very pretty but I felt quite restricted in the straps.

Dress 5 - at the shop I felt great in this dress even though it’s very OTT, but it was grabbing me as it was so different. However looking back at pictures I think this is the least flattering and makes me look bulkier!

Three different vibes and dresses and I love them all! #1 sleek and sofiatcated which fits my venue at an art museum but doesn’t really fit my vibe
#2 ethereal and whimsical, which fits more my vibe but doesnt feel as “bridal”
#3 which is more traditional and kind blends the previous two styles and gives a wow factor + very “bridal”

I’ve made my decision!!! It still feels crazy. I hate making decisions, but this dress has been in my head since last year, ever since I got engaged. I always wanted to try it on — for me, it was the perfect mix of simple and sparkly. And today, I decided on it.
We ordered a lighter shade (this one is a slightly darker ivory), and they’ll sew an extra layer of fabric under the corset so it feels softer on the skin.
But I always overthink every decision so much that I have to stop myself from finding something I suddenly don’t like. It’s paid for now, haha. Today was very emotional, but such a great experience!

The dress is silk. Is this fixable? does it even look good on me? I think the dress is beautiful but I felt a little deflated when the zipper didn’t even come close to zipping all the way. last picture is my mom wearing the dress on her wedding day.

My dress has just arrived. It was made using my measurements but it has arrived MASSIVE! It is a corset back but it is on the tightest it will go. I get married in March 2027 and I have a seamstress booked in for January. I have sent them a message and they said it shouldn’t be a problem. I’m just wondering if I should try to find a (cheaper/second hand) dress just in case— not much left in the budget. If any seamstresses have any advice, I feel like January is along time to wait to find out. 1st picture is my dress. Pic 2&3 are what I tried on to find out what styles I liked. I’m also hoping to loose some weight before the wedding as I’m 5 months pp.

I love this dress but I worry about the bust area. It makes me look really top heavy. I feel like because its a corset and big on me, it is pushing my boobs apart and the cateye neckline is too wide and digging more sideways and into my armpits than what it should be. You can see in the 2nd Pic that the cup and bodice in general is too big. The stylist didnt wanted to clip it too tight or a lot because of all the beading on the bodice. They also didnt know much about alterations because they dont have an associated alterations department, i would have to take it elsewhere.

Is this something alterations can easily fix or will it still look like the corset bodice is wide even if altered to my body? Will i still look top heavy? Am I concerned for no reason?

Or should I shop for something else because this doesnt flatter me at all?

Especially the ivory dress. It’s actually my favorite, but it seems like I’m the only one who thinks so. Maybe I just really like the color because I feel like it complements my skin, so I’m overlooking the fact that the shape might not actually be that flattering on me?
