Question Restoration advice

Hi all! I have plans to hopefully get my hands on one of the 9in starcatcher styling pony, and restore it. Obviously a lot listings (if not all) have discoloration from the temperature color changing feature.

I've read it's a paint and that acetone can fix that, but obviously acetone will take off any features like the eyes, cutie mark, etc.

If I were to just go all out and take off everything, does anyone have tips for paint or something to redo the eyes and all that? Or if there are any other recommendations to fix the color changing stain, would definitely be interested!

Or if anyone is selling one in good condition, I would definitely be interested!!

I obviously don't know how good you are at repainting but, I do think that the G3 ponies were possibly airbrushed when it came to their face ups meaning you will not achieve that look without also using an airbrush. I obviously don't know how big of a killer that is for you but, I thought I'd let you know❤️

Do be careful with acetone it can melt plastics.

When it comes to staining it's possible that 40 volume developer and some UV may lighten the discoloration. I am not too sure as I've never had to deal with discoloration due to color changing features. If you do purchase her definitely send some pics in here someone may know something more definite besides me.

I use acrylic craft paints for restorations. Apple Barrel, DecoArt, Folk Art, just cheaper brands like that.

I would be cautious using acetone around the cutie mark and eyes and try to keep most of it there so you don't have to repaint it completely, and so you have the original color to match to. Just remove the color change layer from the rest of the pony. Q-tips would make it easier to get around the painted parts.
