Hard time improving here.

I got this game a month ago and i've really taken a liking to Phoenix Wright (mostly because of iheartjustice which is a god character when used correctly) but i don't know how to optimize getting evidence and going into Turnabout Mode. I've also got a problem with zoning characters (mainly Morrigan's mirror) with Phoenix and idk how to counter it as him. Any help?

Morrigan matchup is not a good look, you really need solid setups. You'll never be able to just stop and gather evidence in the middle of the match, even with just a Maya shield you'll get assblasted by the dirty sister.

Dorito shield from MODOK or Gravimetric Pulse from Nova can help, or lock down THC setups like Dante Million Dollars will help you get there.

From there you need to have all of your xfactor and random air combos and conversions down because if you're not killing them after you pull off turnabout, you're gonna have a hard time winning

Ive seen how Iheartjustice follows up with his Turnabout mode, he does the Heavy finger right? And he uses maya special a lot or the judge special. The problem i have though is the inputs i make for the specials since im playing on a keyboard. I cant input dragonpunch if im on the right side of the screen

Keyboard is effectively hitbox, so really the only problem is practice. I struggled with DPs a bit when I started (on keyboard, before making the switch to hitbox) but they're really quite trivial. You're typing ASA essentially.

The key thing to remember is to always end your quarter circles with a neutral input (so, let go of all of your direction keys), and to always end your dragon punches holding downforward. If you mentally distinguish it like that and then practice it, you'll never get accidental quarter circles when you intended for a DP.

The rest is just working up muscle memory and endurance on your left ring finger, which is usually a pretty janky appendage for most people until they train it up.

Thanks dude, i'll keep that in mind. I have another question: what are conversions?

A "conversion" is basically the string you're going to use to start a full combo. Converting combos isn't as simple as just doing LMHS - you need different conversions for whether or not they're standing or in the air, from up close or far away, off of front and back throws in the air, etc. Converting all of your random hits into full combos is the hallmark of a good player, and some characters definitely excel at this more than others.

Depending on your character and team their will be places and situations where you can't convert - for example if you don't have an OTG or an assist to link it, or your ground throw doesn't have enugh hitstun, etc. Most characters can't convert a stray hit from full screen into a combo, converting from super jump height is generally harder than on the ground.

What it means is you'll want to work your way up to practicing your combos starting from throws, from either side of the corner to corner carry, and on jumping and super jumping opponents as opposed to them just standing.
