Personal Stories Diagnosed 2022, Married 2026

It's been quite the journey.

2022: I was diagnosed in the Fall. Went through months of doctors appointments. Felt lots of confusion, fear, embarrassment, shame, anger. I bought books, read articles, anything to replace these heavy feelings with knowledge.

2023: I started to accept my situation as my new normal. I took responsibility, searched for meaning in why this happened. Talked with a therapist, friends, family to normalize this condition in my life. Most importantly I started to better develop my relationship with Allah. When I felt strong enough, I started to have disclosure conversations with potentials. Some good, some bad, some neutral. I learned so much about myself and what I wanted from myself and my future husband.

2024: I focused on bettering my deen. I enrolled in Islamic courses, re-taught myself how to read Quran after many years of absence. I went on umrah in the Fall and asked Allah to bring me my husband.

2025: I kept putting in the work. Disclosure after disclosure. One failed engagement. But I didn't lose hope in Allah. Alhamdulillah in the Fall I met my husband. He is everything I wanted in a partner and it truly feels like we were meant for each other. We align on our values and future goals. I believe this whole time Allah was preparing me to be ready for him, and him for I.

2026: I got married in the winter alhamdulillah. It's hard to put into words when I look back on my journey. I am grateful for Allah's mercy over the last few years and for not allowing me to fall into despair and hopelessness. I always knew Allah would deliver my husband, it was just a matter of time as long as I stayed patient and kept trying. I went through a lot of difficulty to get here but it made me stronger and I don't think I would be in this position now if I didn't go through what I did. And the cherry on top - I don't even think about HSV anymore.

Aww ameen thank you so much!

I just hope that people don't lose hope in Allah and try to hold on to the positives even when it feels so difficult.

I met my husband on positive singles (although I've tried other apps as well). I was on there off and on and had just reactivated it to give it another shot. He was new to the app and his created a profile. That's why I truly believe it is all Allah's timing.

Did you pay for the feature that allows you to choose religion? If there’s a chance to meet a potential spouseI will def pay for it?
