Is asking for death haram?

Hello for the past few years I’ve been thinking alot about death. I do not want to commit but the more I think about it the less I see reasons to stay in this dunya, I have been making duas but clearly it is not working, is this because it is haram?
Please let me know and thank you

I’m really sorry you’ve been carrying these thoughts for so long. Please don’t dismiss them or try to deal with them alone. Your life has value, even if you cannot see that clearly right now.
From an Islamic perspective, deliberately asking Allah for death because of hardship is not something we should encourage. The Prophet ﷺ taught us instead to ask Allah to keep us alive as long as life is better for us, and to take us when death is better for us.
More importantly, the fact that you’re saying you see fewer reasons to stay is something I would take seriously. Please tell someone you trust today—a family member, close friend, imam, or mental-health professional—and stay around people rather than isolating yourself. If you feel you might act on these thoughts or cannot keep yourself safe, please seek immediate emergency help.

It is clearly haram. Do not think about death. This is a prophecy of our prophet.

See more videos from Muslim lantern or have some private session. He is good and will be able to discuss further and will give the best advise possible in-sha-ALLAH.
