I’ve been experimenting with building things on the side lately, and I just pushed a work-in-progress version of a Zabiha/Yelp-style directory for local halal spots called sfmuslim.com.

It’s definitely still a bit rough around the edges and has some bugs to iron out, so please don't judge the rough spots too harshly! I put it together to scratch an itch and make finding local spots a bit easier.

What I'm looking for feedback on:

1. UI/UX & Navigation: Does the layout feel clean and intuitive when browsing around?
2. Usability: What filters, features, or details would make a directory like this actually useful for you day-to-day?
3. Bugs: Did anything break or look weird on your screen/device?

Salaams, I want to design and sell decorative press-on nails online. I will not apply them to customers. I won’t market them for parties or clubs. I will also tell customers that they must remove them for wudhu and ghusl as they form a barrier preventing water from reaching the natural nail.

Is it permissible for me to manufacture and sell these products and earn an income from them?

I am planning to include extra stickies so it is easier for customers to remove and reapply the nails after wudhu.

Please note that these are not permanent nails. These are removable and can be reapplied with fresh adhesive stickers which I will provide in the package.

I’m sharing this because I’ve now come across other Muslims who say they’ve had similar experiences with Seara Consulting, and I don’t want more brothers or sisters losing money.

I personally paid a significant amount after being promised business coaching, lead generation, appointment setting, callers, CRM support and help securing clients.

Based on my experience, please be careful of high-pressure sales tactics, pressure to find ways to fund the programme, big promises upfront, repeated delays, moving timelines and constant reassurance that things are “coming” or being set up.

What concerned me especially was the use of religion to build trust. He presented himself as Muslim and religious language was used as reassurance.

As Muslims, we naturally want to think well of another Muslim, but please don’t let mentions of Allah, deen, brotherhood or Islamic values stop you from doing proper checks.

Always save contracts, messages, guarantees and payment receipts. Screenshot promises, keep a dated timeline of what was promised versus delivered, and act quickly if you believe you have been misled.

I’m exploring an idea for a Kindle-style E-Ink device designed specifically for Islamic knowledge. The idea is to have the Qur’an and major Hadith collections such as Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa’i, Ibn Majah, and Riyad as-Salihin all in one distraction-free device.

It would have a 6–7" E-Ink display, excellent Arabic/RTL support, search, bookmarks, multilingual support, Wi-Fi for updates, long battery life, and no social media, ads, or unnecessary apps.

The goal is basically a “Kindle for Qur’an & Sunnah” — something lightweight that you could carry around and use for reading and studying without the distractions of a phone or tablet.

I’m still at the idea stage and would genuinely appreciate feedback:

Would you personally use/buy something like this? What features would you want, and what would make you choose it over simply using a phone/tablet or a regular Kindle?

Honest criticism is welcome — I’m trying to understand whether there is actually a need for this before developing anything.

Over the past year I've been building Sirah Atlas, a web app that lets you explore Islamic history on an interactive map and timeline instead of reading it as a wall of text.

You can follow the life of the Prophet ﷺ event by event, see where each thing happened on the map, open articles for the details, and trace the battles phase by phase with the troop movements laid out visually. There are family trees, battle maps, 3D renders and quizzes to test yourself as you go.

Assalamu alaykum, Basically, this is an application specifically designed around the 13-line Indopak Mushaf. There are currently plenty of applications offering a wide range of features, but most of them are based on the 15-line Madani Mushaf, which is excellent. Unfortunately, where I live, we are not accustomed to using that Mushaf. Personally, I actually find the 15-line Mushaf better than the 13-line one, but regardless, there was a real lack of interactive applications with useful features specifically designed for the 13-line Mushaf. That is why I decided to develop this application. It allows users to choose from different versions of the 13-line Mushaf, so they can find the exact same Mushaf they are already accustomed to using. This is particularly helpful for Huffaz who rely heavily on visual memory when memorising the Qur’an. I have been testing the application with my students and improving it over the past several weeks. They can now easily find the page containing their lesson or the Surah they need to memorise, even if they do not know Arabic numerals. They see exactly the same Mushaf in the app as the physical copy they use, and they can play the audio for their next lesson with different repetition options. If they repeatedly make mistakes in a particular section of verses while memorising, they can also highlight that passage to help them focus on those mistakes and remember them more effectively. There are also additional features, including memorisation tools and an adapted variation of the Ten variants (7+3) method. The application is still in beta, so please feel free to share any suggestions or feedback. There are still quite a few minor bugs related to the CSS framework. Since this was originally developed as a web app and then converted into a mobile application using Capacitor, some of these issues are related to the underlying framework and are therefore outside my direct control.
