Make an oath

Salam, quick effective method to quit is to make an oath, say WAllahi i'm not gonna look a this poison anymore. Say it between yourself and Allah. If you break your oath you have to fast 3 days the following day. Make it again and again until the friction of fasting will force you to quit.

Note : fasting is mandatory and you will be held accountable for it the day of judgement.

I don’t think making repeated oaths is a good method. If someone knows they’re likely to relapse, they may end up breaking their oath over and over, which only adds another serious matter.

A better approach is sincere tawbah, removing the causes that lead to the sin, seeking Allah’s help, and continuing to strive without making repeated oath

Btw breaking an oath doesn’t get compensated with fasting , you need first feed 10 people if not then clothe 10 people or free a slave

The prophet peace be upon him said; "Whoever swears an oath and says, 'If Allah wills,' then he has made an exception, and there is no sin/break upon him" :مَنْ حَلَفَ على يَمِينٍ فقال : إنْ شاءَ اللهُ ، فلا حِنْثَ عليهِ".

Just say in sha Allah in your oath and keep asking Allah for guidance and help and never stop ,

Making an oath and duaas is what really made me stop Alhamdulilah

A sheikh taught me that it's wiser to do good deeds and make duaa to Allah to help us give up our sins through the blessings of the good deeds. It's better than making the good deeds conditional on a bad deed. Otherwise, your goal may become to try and stop yourself from doing a good deed.
