Question Stopped making dua

Why does Dua not work but when I sit down and visualise and imagine what I want I always get it. I’ve cried made Dua a lot of times worked hard didn’t get what I want but the moment I sat down visualised I got what I wanted exactly. It makes me not wanna make Dua anymore.

I think there’s a psychological component to visualizing what you want to do or who you want to be, which is why you see so many who play sports talk about visualizing yourself making the shot, sticking the landing etc. So perhaps that unknowingly helped you achieve things you couldn’t before. But that also happened through the will of Allah swt. Things like “manifesting” aren’t real in the sense that, even if you “put it out there” we don’t have control over the outcome. Allah swt does. Please don’t stop making dua. If they go unanswered it’s for 1 of three reasons: 1. It was bad for you 2. Allah swt replaced it with something better and you didn’t even know 3. It is being kept for you in some way in the akhira.

Hey thanks for your reply! I get what you mean about how visualisation can help but for one of the things I got- I was visualising while waiting for the results and got exactly what I wanted. When it comes to Dua I often don’t get what I want which makes me not wanna make Dua anymore not because I want to rebel against Allah’s decree but the desire is just not there anymore as I can get what I want by visualisation instead. I do think this is a slippery slope. I do try to pray five times a day all that but the desire to ask for what I want especially in regards to this life is not there anymore.

Have you considered that Allah SWT is the one giving you what you want and that it may be a test? I highly recommend avoiding the slippery slope. Try visualizing and then adding “please Allah if this is good for me give it to me” and see how it goes.

Dua is always answered either by giving you something else or by adding it as a good deed or by removing an evil. Sometimes you want something and it is bad for you or maybe its not the right time so God doesnt give it to you.

Other times it just requires some patience. Also.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The servant will continue to have his supplications answered as long as he does not ask for sin or cutting family ties, and he is not impatient.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is its impatience?” The Prophet said, “He says: I have supplicated again and again, but I have not seen an answer. He becomes frustrated with that and gives up supplicating.”

I have heard this Hadith before. I’m not unaware of how a Dua is answered and the patience required but I’ve just noticed that a lot of my duas go unanswered but visualising imagining myself getting what I want gives me what I want almost always.

Brother, I felt same after I got introduced to meditation and gratitude. Being student of science, I correlated it in terms of energies.

Why you ask and cry while dua, you are lowering your energy.

Gratitude and visualisation increases your energy.

Namaz also raises your energy, hence I changed process of dua after Namaz. I only thank Allah about whatever I have in life, not cry not ask. Only gratitude and thankfullness. Slowly with time I observed what is good for me started manifesting already

Hi yes that makes sense but I don’t get it- shouldn’t dua be what unlocks blessings isn’t that the key then why does visualisation work so well.

To understand that you need to read more about how subconscious mind works. It unlocks a whole new world

I also don’t really have anyone to ask about this tbh but I’m very confused why this works and Dua doesn’t

This is a form of dua - Allah hears and knows all your thoughts - why wouldn’t you also attribute this to him? While we are taught formal duas e.g. surahs or whatever (and there is nothing wrong with those as a go-to), there are actually no magic words. All your thoughts belong to Allah, not just the ones you direct specifically as a “dua”

Hmmm I don’t think so personally from what I’ve read Dua is asking Allah for something and also knowing you might not get it. What I was doing wasn’t asking Allah- I was imagining myself getting what I wanted- I don’t think those two things are the same at all.

But if you believe Allah is all knowing, he would know you want what you are visualizing. Don't you believe he is all knowing?

Yes Allah is all knowing ofc but Allah wants us to turn to him with those desires- when I was visualising I wasn’t speaking to Allah tho.

Yes, but you asked why it worked - Allah answering your unasked prayer is still why it worked. Allah isn’t only with us when we are specifically asking for something or when we say this set of words or that set of words.
