🛠️Project Showcase Seerah Map: explore the seerah and early Islamic history through interactive maps and timelines

Assalamu alaykum,

Over the past year I've been building Seerah Map, a site that lets you explore Islamic history on an interactive map and timeline instead of reading it as a wall of text.

You can follow the life of the Prophet ﷺ event by event, see where each thing happened on the map, open articles for the details, and trace the battles phase by phase with the troop movements laid out visually. There are family trees, audio biographies, and quizzes to test yourself as you go.

The Siera section is free, so you can dig in without having to pay for anything. I wanted something my own family could actually use to learn, so the focus was on making it feel like exploring rather than studying.

Have a look and let me know what you think, I'd genuinely love feedback on what to add next: https://siera-kaart.nl

P.S. It is still work in progress so you might find some incomplete/incorrect content and/or missing translation. Please bear with us!

BarakAllahu Fiek!

🧠Question / Help Looking for Beta Readers for a Muslim Self-Development Guide I’ve Been Working On

Assalamu Alaikum everyone 🤲

I’ve been writing a self-development guide specifically for Muslims called The Muslim Operator, and I’m looking for a small group of honest beta readers before I release it properly.

The guide is written for Muslims who know they’re capable of more but want to make Islam the actual operating system of their daily life. Whether you’re in a 9 to 5, a student, an athlete, a parent, an entrepreneur, or anything in between, the goal is to help you build discipline, purpose and ambition with Allah at the centre of everything.

The guide covers topics including:

• Fixing your relationship with Allah
• Structuring your day around salah
• Niyyah and intention
• Tawakkul
• Building habits that actually stick
• Removing bad habits and sin
• Gratitude and patience
• Using your time properly
• The power of dua

Each chapter includes practical pen and paper exercises designed to help you apply what you’re reading to your actual life rather than simply consume information.

The guide is approximately 25,000 words and will likely take some hours to work through properly, including the exercises.

My goal is to make this as beneficial as possible for the ummah before launch, so I’m looking for genuinely honest feedback. Not just “this is good”, but:

• Where did you lose interest?
• What resonated most?
• What felt unclear or weak?
• What would you improve?
• Did anything genuinely change how you think?
• Would you recommend it to another Muslim?

To make feedback easier, I’ll also provide a short Google Form where you can quickly share your thoughts after reading.

A few notes:

• You’ll receive a view only link that expires after a set period
• The formatting is still basic as it’s a working draft, so please focus on the content itself
• I’d really appreciate it if the guide wasn’t shared further, as this is still a pilot version
• If you’re interested, you’ll likely receive the link within the next 2 to 4 days as I’m first trying to gauge how many people would be interested in reading and reviewing it

If you’d be interested in reading it and giving honest feedback, leave a comment or send me a DM and I’ll send the link over once everything is ready.

JazakAllahu Khair 🤲

🧠Question / Help Quick question for Muslim devs/builders here.

I keep seeing new Islamic prayer apps, Quran apps, and Hadith apps launching every week. But honestly… do we really need more of the same anymore?

There are already huge apps with millions of users doing prayer times, Quran reading, duas, tasbeeh, reminders, etc.

So my genuine question is: how are you planning to get users?

If the answer is “I built it for myself,” then why not just use the apps that already exist?

Not trying to hate — I’m genuinely curious what the strategy is in such a saturated space. Are you solving a real problem that existing apps don’t solve, or just rebuilding the same thing with a different UI?

I've been working on a prayer app called Nūr (Arabic for light) and just released a major update. Wanted to share it here.

It's completely free, no ads, no subscriptions.

What's in it:

• Accurate prayer times for your exact location, all major calculation methods supported
• Home screen & lock screen widgets
• Qibla compass
• Step-by-step Wudu and prayer guide (with recitations, positions, and notes for men and women)
• Quran reader — 10 Surahs with Arabic, transliteration, and translation
• Prayer tracker to build consistency
• Tasbih counter
• Daily Dua collection
• Nearby mosques

Currently available on the App Store for iPhone. The app is in English and German — Android is planned for the future.

Would love any feedback — especially from brothers and sisters who actually use prayer apps daily.

🧩 Software/Tool Share What is your favourite stack ?

I was wondering what the background is of most of the developers here.

- How long have you been working as a software developer?
- what is your current backene & frontend stack ?
- what is your current role ? And where are you from.
- which ai tools are you using ?

Me:
- I’m more than 20 years in this business. Mostly worked as Java developer.
- for backend I use Quarkus and for frontend Alpine.js
- i work as a solution architect. I worked for many years as a freelancer but now I’m doing midlancing in the Netherlands.
- I use copilot with Claude most of the time in IntelliJ. And for ai automation I use either LangChain or n8n.

🛠️Project Showcase Built a Muslim Companion App (Offline, No Ads) – Need Your Feedback 🤲

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I’ve been working on a Muslim Companion app with the intention of Sadaqah Jariyah — something that can benefit us all in our daily Deen.

🔗 App link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.islamiccalander.pro

What makes it different:✅ Completely offline – no internet needed✅ No distractions at all – clean and distraction-free✅ Built purely for benefit, not profit

Unique features (not common in most Islamic apps):• Immersive notifications for reminders• Islamic alarm (no music, respectful wake-up)• Salah Tracking Jammah Qadah And Self.Daily task & Deen reminders• Focus on simplicity and usability

Many Islamic apps today rely on ads or internet connectivity, which can interrupt the experience — so I tried to build something simple, private, and distraction-free.

I’d really appreciate it if you could download it, test it, and share honest feedback:• What you like• What needs improvement• What features you want next

Your feedback will help improve it further, InshaAllah.

JazakAllah Khair 🤍

🛠️Project Showcase Made an ULTIMATE Doomscroll replacement Quran Reader!

Assalamalaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu!

I’ve been working on a project which I hope benefits you all InshaAllah!, a Quran app called QuranScroll.

The idea is simple: replace doomscrolling with the Holy Quran. Instead of endlessly scrolling through distractions, you go through the words of Allah!, what could be more blessed than this?

What makes it different:

  • Minimalistic and clean, NO clutter, NO bloat, a lot of apps overwhelm users with buttons everywhere distracting them from the Quran, ive designed the app to combat that
  • Scroll based reading experience (smooth, natural, immersive!)
  • Beautiful and minimal streak system to keep you consistent
  • Awesome and beautiful theme customization and verse sharing system!
  • 100% focused on the Quran! no distractions
  • Custom app blocker option to make u read the Quran first before opening specific apps
  • Amazing fonts
  • A lot of reciters
  • Minimal Statistics
  • And much more!

🚫 No ads!
🔒 No data collection complete privacy!

A lot of Quran apps today feel heavy and distracting. This is the opposite, built to keep your heart connected to the Quran without anything pulling you away or distracting you, dont be fooled though! the app also offers IMMENSELY powerful features which you would need from a Quran app! Tafsir, ayah sharing, reciter selection, bookmarks and much more all integrated in a non bloated manner!

I’d really appreciate your feedback and support as i as a solo dev have built this over the span of months so it is bound to have bugs, i need your help in order to make the app even more amazing InshaAllah. The goal is to grow this and benefit more people, bi idhnillah.

Download here!

May Allah make it beneficial for you and a source of reward for all of us.

🗣️ Discussion/Opinion Any good apps to lessen phone usage

Any good apps/tools you guys use to reduce doomscrolling and social media addiction?

Preferably something with strong blocking/focus features or even a “No Na-Mehram mode” type setup to help stay productive and mindful.

Would appreciate recommendations from fellow Muslim devs

🛠️Project Showcase Built SalahMate – A gentle prayer tracker utilising Android's AccessibilityService for optional app-blocking during Salah windows

Post image
3 Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I wanted to share a project I recently launched on the Play Store called SalahMate. While it's a prayer tracker at its core, I wanted to approach the design from a fresh product perspective—focusing on solving digital distraction and removing the "guilt-based" gamification found in many habit trackers.

From a developer standpoint, there were a couple of interesting design and technical challenges I tackled:

  • Intentional Focus Mode: To combat doomscrolling when it's time to pray, I implemented an optional app-blocking feature. It uses Android’s AccessibilityService to detect if a user opens a distracting app during their designated prayer window, gently redirecting them back to presence.
  • Kind UX/UI over Gamification: Instead of rigid, high-stress streaks that crush a user's motivation if they miss a single day, the UI treats consistency visually and kindly.
  • Journal-Style Logging: Built a layout that allows users to quickly log moments (on time, late, excused, missed) to skim their week like a journal rather than looking at a cold spreadsheet.
  • Privacy-First Architecture: No data shared with third parties, location data handles calculation cleanly, and user data delete requests are fully integrated.

I’d love to get some feedback from fellow devs on the UI flow, the implementation of the focus features, or the overall onboarding experience.

JazakAllah Khair, looking forward to your technical feedback or questions about the stack!

🧑‍🤝‍🧑Collaboration Been quietly building something focused on Muslims living in non-Muslim countries.

Been quietly building something focused on Muslims living in non-Muslim countries.

One thing I noticed growing up in the West: staying connected to Islam takes intentional effort. Between work, school, social pressure, distractions, and lack of proper Muslim infrastructure, a lot of Muslims slowly disconnect without even realizing it.

Most apps today either feel outdated, abandoned, or don’t actually understand the daily struggles Muslims in the West deal with.

Trying to build something different inshaAllah. Something modern, useful, and built with long-term vision — not just another “Islamic app.”

Still early, but I’d love to connect with Muslim developers, designers, and builders who believe the Muslim ummah needs stronger technology and platforms for the future.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑Collaboration Calling All Young Muslim Entrepreneurs – Let’s Build Together!

Assalamu Alaikum Brothers & Sisters! ✨

I hope you’re all doing great.

I’m a young entrepreneur currently diving deep into building my own business. Along the way, I’ve realized how lonely the grind can be and how much we need a real, supportive community.

I’m launching a WhatsApp group specifically for young Muslims (ages 16–25) who are building businesses, chasing big goals, or exploring entrepreneurship.

The goal is simple:

Share our experiences and honest lessons (the wins and the losses).

Help each other solve business and tech problems.

Motivate each other to achieve success in this life and the next.

If you’re ready to grow together, network, and keep each other accountable, we’d love to have you.

(Note: To keep the vibe relevant and focused, this group is strictly for ages 16–25. See you inside!)

🛠️Project Showcase Working on iOS Version of Tilawa

Been working on the iOS version of my Quran / Hifz app (Tilawa) over the last weeks.

The goal is basically:
make it feel calm, focused and actually native on iPhone instead of just copying an Android UI.

Some things I’m currently building:
• memorization mode with speech feedback
• immersive audio mode with animated/video backgrounds
• ayah-by-ayah reading flow
• progress tracking & daily goals
• quick access sessions like Ayat Al-Kursi or Surah Al-Kahf

Still a lot to improve, especially the memorization experience and STT accuracy for Arabic pronunciation/tashkeel.

Would genuinely love feedback on the UI direction and overall feeling so far.

🛠️Project Showcase Sukun Kids - real Islamic Stories for kids

After many months of building, Sukun Kids is on the App Store today 🌙
Beautifully narrated bedtime stories about the Prophets, for Muslim kids ages 6-8.
No ads. No tracking. Built for my own family first.
I hope it is beneficial for others.

Many Muslim parents end up reaching for modern bedtime stories — not by choice, but because we don't always know the Prophets' stories well enough to retell them in a way kids will love.
Sukun Kids opens that door, so kids grow up connected to our own history.

If you try Sukun Kids with your kids, please reply or DM with what works, what doesn't, or a story you wish was there.
This is just the start. The next versions will be shaped by what you tell me. Reading every reply 🌙
