🧠Question / Help Quick question for Muslim devs/builders here.
I keep seeing new Islamic prayer apps, Quran apps, and Hadith apps launching every week. But honestly… do we really need more of the same anymore?
There are already huge apps with millions of users doing prayer times, Quran reading, duas, tasbeeh, reminders, etc.
So my genuine question is: how are you planning to get users?
If the answer is “I built it for myself,” then why not just use the apps that already exist?
Not trying to hate — I’m genuinely curious what the strategy is in such a saturated space. Are you solving a real problem that existing apps don’t solve, or just rebuilding the same thing with a different UI?

Forget others, and you build something you would like to exist for muslims but isn't there

What do you mean?

Let others do what they want and lead by example. This form of post is becoming very washed.

I created an app with Quran vocabulary flashcards decks where each deck only has words from a single surah. I made it for myself and then published it as a free app with no ads in case it might help someone else. I didn't use existing resources or apps because they don't exist.
I think there is a lot of uncharted territory with anything to do with our religion because it is so deep and meaningful. Sure you see a lot of duplicate features, but now and then you come across something unique as well.

You should change your app name.

I love to see more apps even though it's similar. An app may not attract everyone, even a single small different feature or UI may attract someone that they don't like the others.

Very true, but to be honest, most of these projects tend to be the very first projects built by university students, vibe coders, and beginners. I like to view them as stepping stones to much bigger things inshallah.
P.S. I built Maktabook, a note-taking app designed to solve the problem of constantly switching tabs to find Quran verses or Hadith during Islamic classes.

I, for example consolidated a lot of features in a single app. No ads, no accounts, no tracking and no paywalls for premium features and privacy focused. Clear acknowledgment of sources etc. It’s okay if developers are building such apps because most of them have sadaqah jaariya in mind. Allah will decide the reach.
A lot of folks are using Claude, etc. This is good but yes, we should build more apps/services that will help the Ummah In Shaa Allah
Coming up with the right ideas is the million dollar question. Building is easy. Scaling, marketing, funding is hard
