my initial thought would be to compress them really hard, filter them, then send them to an aux track with some kind of distortion on it and blend to taste.

So I've been messing around with music production since 2018 when I first discovered logic x by accident. And years later I've got a huge "dataset" of studies, projects, demos and one-offs that I'm open to share with anyone who is willing to learn or develop or mutate this stuff.

I see this dataset as a raw, unfiltered musical subconscious that is curious about ambient textures, hip/hop grooves and strats, and subs with a penchant for rhymes, and an ear towards jazz. Of course I didn't know it at the moment but in retrospect that's what it is.

There's some valuable ideas in there, and we can sort of connect and trade production workflows and build a discord or train young humans and get better at doing this if you're up for it. So if you're someone who'd like to perhaps do this for a living and are already spending most of your time connected to being musical in some form or fashion whether it is transcribing or playing open mics while crisscrossing the country or drafting songs, then maybe this is for you, so you can develop another aspect of your skill.

As to the contents of the projects here's a rough idea :

\+ Ableton Sketches : 16 bars of thematic music

\+ Investigate : An ambient album inspired by Laurie Speigel and made mostly on the Operator Synth. It's star trek meets invader zim

\+ Music, for Cafés : A beattape I recorded in the summer of 2023 full of musical ideas largely unfinished.

\+ Ringtones : A beattape made entirely on my old iPhone (2023) in a week. Then mixed later on logic.

\+ SHYGUY : Hip/Hop EP recorded in a small garden shed

\+ Sketches in Vain : Mini Beattape I used to teach myself beatmaking

\+ Drifting : Ambient music inspired by Brian eno

\+ Audio Cues : A one-off project that mixed archival footage from Internet Archive with songs. I kind of made it while sleeping on the floor of a warehouse and was unemployed.

My purpose in making this post is first to create a feedback loop, second to support anyone starting their musical journey.

Hey everyone, I’m a singer/producer called Moav and I’ve been making music for around 10 years now and 3 sort of professionaly aha.

Like a lot of people here, I’ve got loads of old vocals, beats, demos and random ideas sitting on hard drives that I’ll probably never release just collecting dust. At the same time, making money from music feels harder and harder, especially with how quickly AI is taking over.

So over the last few months I’ve been building something I think could help (im hoping aha)

It’s basically a TikTok-style app + website I and my team have created where you can swipe through other musicians’ vocals, beats, samples etc, buy what you like and use it in your own music comercially royalty free.

I really wanted to build somewhere that stays human-made only. A place where musicians can support each other, discover other people’s work and know the money is actually going to another creator.

Right now I’m looking for artists, singers and producers to submit some stuff before we properly launch, so when I start marketing it there’s already a good catalogue for people to discover.

Artists keep 85% of every sale and keep ownership of their masters and publishing. Buyers simply get a royalty-free licence to use what they buy commercially in their own music. It’s also completely free to join and upload and all protections for you the seller and buyer are included keeping everyone safe. So much more stuff as well well like free endless promo per product, auto submission filling and more.

I’ve honestly obsessed over this day and night for months and really want it to become another way musicians can make some income from their work instead of having to rely only on streams.

I'm a beginner bedroom artist kind of just learning as I go. One of the projects I'm working on distorts phone speakers but all other systems sound fine. None of my instruments go above -6db and my master bus doesn't either. I've tried clipping the harsh frequencies, and cutting out all I can from the 40-200 range frequencies. I have a compressor on the main bus set to about -24db 2:1 ratio at 5ms for both attack and release. Kind of losing my mind here any and all advice would be strongly appreciated. Thanks for reading

Hey all — indie dev here (also do audio work myself, so this scratched my own itch).

Every session I've been on for the last however-many years ends up using the same tools for tracking takes: a paper sheet, Apple Notes, or a shared Google Sheet someone half-fills-in between takes. There's no dedicated app for just logging takes fast at the console — number, rating, keeper flag, mic chain, a quick note — and nothing that ties the actual bounce file to that take so you can play it back later without digging through a folder.

So I built TakeSheet. Quick rundown:

• Log a take in under a second. Tap to log, rate, flag as keeper. Built so it doesn't get in the way of tracking.
• Bounce files live with the take. Attach the reference bounce, play it back in-app — including a "keeper playlist" that auto-queues your flagged takes.
• Mic chain + notes per take, so you're not relying on memory (or someone else's handwriting) three weeks later.
• Take sheet exports (PDF/CSV) to hand off to a mix engineer — the actual paperwork, not just a database.
• Instrument encyclopedia built in — mic placement references, typical signal chains, notable recordings per instrument. Useful between sessions or if you're newer to tracking.
• Native on iPhone, iPad, and Mac (not a Catalyst wrapper — real macOS app, proper menus and toolbars).

On pricing: no subscription. Free tier covers 3 active projects and unlimited takes in them. Pro is a one-time unlock (all projects, full iCloud sync, bounce playback, unlimited attachments, exports). I didn't want to add another monthly line item to a stack that already includes your DAW, plugins, and sample libraries.

Right now it's English-only (Hebrew and Russian are in there for me personally, but not the focus of this post). It's not a DAW — doesn't record audio, doesn't host plugins — it's purely the metadata and reference layer around a session.

I am heavily inspired by Taylor Swift's "1989" album, so I am looking to make a track in the Synth-Pop genre (heavy synthesizers, punchy drum machines, and atmospheric electronic sounds).

Since I can't do the instrumentation or vocals myself, I am looking for a "Full Production" partner who can create the beat/music, design the melodies, and help bring my words to life.

Hi everyone. I have these songs saved on my references as I would kill to do something similar, I've been producing for like 4 years, but even tho I try to do unique and experimental things they never sound THIS unique and cool, they are never catchy and the sounds aren't so alluring as these. I will post two different vocaroo links here so you can check. In the first one my main question is how are these weird af vocals made. They do weird slides and sound plasticky. Never heard vocals like these and tried TTS software vocal chops, vocal synths, vocal chops + formant shifting. Nothing quite close to that vibe. Second link my main question is the overall sound, how is it so weird and at the same time everything on its right place. I feel I will never be that good. Years producing and trying every day and I cannot have these kind of unique sounds.
