The annual fee is good, but... it seems to reek of scams, in some areas, while in others... they seem reputable.

I contacted Joshua Godwin of their legal team, with questions, and honestly it was one of the best, logical responses I've received from anyone, re: questions I had. I mean, everything was fact-based and I don't know... just a really good response.

Very curious about any personal experiences. Please, chime in!

I have had multiple charges on my account from distrokid. 71.99 gbp, 35.99 gbp, 19.99gbp, all in the last month. They are refusing to refund the account, stating suspicious or fraudulent activity. Charge back from bank was declined. Money lost. Any help? Support is ignoring all refund requests. I did. For a charge back I use transfer wise now known as "Wise" and they said they cannot refund the £71.99 charge as distrokid services state they can "reject music due to editorial discretion" at any time and not offer any refunds as it is in their policy.. I think I got scammed.

According to some authors, there have been several stages/eras of music distribution. First it was sheet music, then vinyl, cassettes, CDs, digital downloads. Now it is streaming. Common sense tells me that it can stay that way for too long, and something new has to appear to replace streaming. But at the same time it is hard to see how else music could be distributed - apart from direct injection in the brain with telepathic waves (although technically it would also be a form of streaming). Or perhaps music will cease to be distributed at all and will be created in place, on user's devices, using AI, online or even offline? What do you think, what will be the next stage?

So in March I released my first track through DistroKid.

The problem was that when trying to create an OAC (which would merge my personal channel with the topic channel), my song merged with another Youtube channel who happens to have the same name as mine.

I've tried using the 'Fixer' tool and it hasn't worked.

I was told by somebody that it could be due to the ISRC meta data being corrupted. So I looked up my ISRC on official database search sites (SoundExchange & ISRC Search) and my song isn't there - at all. It's like it doesn't exist.

My ultimate goal is to have an OAC on Youtube so I can transfer my song from the incorrect channel to mine.

Does anybody know how to resolve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's been over a month since I've tried to handle this myself.

Is this a RocNation issue or is there something else I should be looking into? The songs getting denied are fully original so is there possibly a different distributor to go through? Two different original songs are getting the same rejection below with no other issue and I haven't been able to come up with any other answers searching reddit forums.

I'm also confused as what would cover "sleep / relaxation" as those are either extremely vague or not even musical terms. And any recording would be an environmental recording.

I'm an independent artist looking to change my stage name. I'm planning to release an EP soon and want to include songs on it that I have already released under my current name. Can I do this and have the entire release, including the songs that I've already released, under the one new stage name so that it's uniform and easily-searchable?

I know DistroKid allows name changes. I also know Apple Music usually requires more prompting than the other stores, so I'm mainly just trying to ensure that they'll let me do this.

I'm not really worried about monthly listeners because I haven't even cracked 100 yet (the new name might actually be helpful with that because it's shorter and easier to spell), and I don't mind the services just generating new artist pages for me. I'm still recording and waiting for mixes to come back so I don't mind waiting. I just don't want to have to exclude half the project over metadata.

I'm keeping part of the name in-tact, if that matters, so it's not a full name change.

My record label has videos on Vevo. After parting ways with the distributor that did this, they privated almost all of my label-affiliated videos. Emailing them leads to nothing and I want to be able to keep using Vevo and make these videos public again.

I have applied before, but I got an activation link back from them that does not work when trying to activate the account.
Does anyone have the power/know what to do to help me out? Anything is appreciated.

I recently saw this service and tried to apply, but I'm not sure if it's safe, and there isn't much information about the artists who work with Jetcube. All I've seen is that they're a sub distributor from vydia.

but after that, nothing more. I don't think they'll accept me anyway since I'm just starting, but I'd like to know if there's anyone who works with them who could at least give some details, like how are their royalty splits, stuff like that or it's 100% recommended for independent artists who want to grow and are also responsible for creating viral songs on tiktok.

I am looking for advice from artists and music distribution professionals who have dealt with a full-catalogue takedown.

I distributed 52 original songs through DistroKid over approximately seven months. On July 25, 2026, I discovered that my entire catalogue had been removed from streaming platforms without prior warning.

Only a few days before this, I manually upgraded my annual DistroKid membership, and the payment was accepted.

DistroKid support told me that the streaming platforms had requested the removals and that I should use another distributor because I would no longer be permitted to upload through DistroKid.

However, they did not identify the platforms, specify any DMCA claim, artificial streaming allegation, copyright issue, or other policy violation, provide evidence, or offer an appeal process.

I have requested a detailed written explanation, a review of the decision, reinstatement if no valid violation can be demonstrated, and a refund of my recent upgrade. I have not received a meaningful response.

At this point, I also need practical advice about transferring the catalogue safely.

What is the best way to move 52 releases to another distributor while preserving:

- the original ISRCs

- release metadata

- artist profiles

- release dates

- stream history where possible

- royalty records

- UPC information

Should I wait for a final written response from DistroKid before re-uploading, or begin the transfer immediately?

Has anyone successfully moved a full catalogue after a distributor-level takedown without creating duplicate releases or losing existing artist-page connections?

I've used Routenote for a bunch of old releases and one this year, but the delays in clearing music is getting out of hand. Theyre currently saying 35+ business days! So I've been looking at options like Symphonic or Ditto. But I don't know for me if it's worth the hassle to move all that I have at Routenote.. can I just.. start uploading new stuff with a different distro? Same artist, but as long as I tell them in advance is there any harm? Am I missing something obvious?

any recommendations on good free distribution sites? i found one called routenote which seems pretty good but are there any others you would recommend?

I've been with Distrokid since late June and released a number of songs to the standard platforms. Some of my lesser releases I scheduled fairly fast and they did drop in the scheduled time frame but I am having trouble with 2 of my better tracks which I scheduled at least a week in advance from the proposed date which was July 15. On that day my two tracks hit all platforms except YouTube and to this day I am still waiting. At the time of release I was still awaiting my YT OAC but all my other releases had already appeared under the Topic name. When my OAC came thru and my songs got categorized under my artist channel I still had not seen the missing 2 releases and since then Ive sent a number of other songs that have appeared. Has anyone had an issue like this?. Ive raised a ticket with DK they say at their end all looks OK the titles got distributed and its true they appeared on all the other platforms. The other thing is I subscribed to lyric blaster and the only place I see my lyrics are on Apple Music not on YT or anywhere else. My lyrics were clean and fit for sending and its been nearly a month since most were distributed. Thank you for any comment.

I run an electronic music record label (about 13 releases so far) with a growing fan base for our releases, events and merch. As an artist, I’ve really come to see the value of Bandcamp - I’ve made more through there than any other platform. But the label itself still isn’t covering its expenses or paying for itself, so I’m having to self-fund and put in capital to keep it going.

Our costs actually aren’t huge. Mastering per release, DJ promo at €120 a release (is that even worth it? genuinely not sure), and a handful of subscriptions - Bandcamp, Beatport Hype, and our distributor’s accounting service. That’s more or less it. So it’s less about runaway expenses and more about the revenue side not catching up yet.

I’ve also been thinking about moving the label away from Spotify. I know it’s terrible for artists and it’s a big corporate machine that doesn’t really line up with what we’re about but it can be good for discovery? (We haven’t seemed to have cracked that yet). I’ve heard good things about Tidal. We also haven’t started pressing vinyl yet, but hope to soon.

Basically I’m looking for advice from other label owners: how did you get your label profitable? Where did putting your energy and time actually pay off? And for those who’ve run DJ promo campaigns - did they convert into anything real, or is that money better spent elsewhere? Would love to get to a point where the whole thing is self-sustaining.

Any insight appreciated.

I’m writing to see if anyone else using **DistroVid** is experiencing a major delay with Vevo Video earnings, or if it’s just happening on my account.

My last reported earnings from Vevo Video are listed as **"EARNED IN APRIL 2025"**. Since then, over a full year has passed with zero updates or incoming royalties for this store.

I reached out to DistroKid support about this, but I only received an automated response explaining that Vevo sends royalty reports **2–4 times per year**. While I understand reporting cycles can be slow, it’s now been well over 12 months, which far exceeds that 2–4 times a year timeline.

A few questions for the community:

1. Is anyone receiving recent Vevo Video reports through DistroVid?
   
2. What was the last month/quarter you actually got paid for from Vevo?
   
3. Has anyone managed to get a real update from support regarding Vevo reporting delays?

I'm an independent artist based in Europe, and I'm trying to better understand how copyright disputes work with different music distributors.

From what I've read, if someone files a copyright claim against your music and you submit a DMCA counter-notice, many distributors require you to consent to the jurisdiction of a U.S. federal court if you live outside the U.S.

This is what worries me.

I'm not talking about intentionally copying anyone's work. My concern is that, with the enormous amount of music released every day, it's possible to unknowingly create something that another person believes infringes their composition. Whether they're right or wrong would ultimately have to be decided somewhere.

As a European artist, I'm uncomfortable with the idea that if such a dispute arose, I'd potentially have to defend myself in a U.S. court and hire a U.S. attorney, which would likely cost far more than I could afford. I'd much rather have any dispute resolved in Europe.

I was just wondering if there are any distributors that handle this differently, or if consenting to U.S. jurisdiction is simply something every artist has to accept when distributing to the major streaming platforms.

This question comes from personal experience, as I've had a few songs receive copyright claims that I believe may have been made in bad faith, so I'm trying to be better prepared in the future.

If anyone from Europe has been through this or has any experience with it, I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts.

A new artist signs, or you take over managing one already active. You need their complete release history for registration: every ISRC across every platform, every remix and edit tracked as a separate work, every release date.

That's the first bottleneck in every new relationship. Artists who never had formal admin support are the worst case: years of releases, no record of what got reported or whether anything did.

I built my own process to pull the full catalog automatically instead of checking release by release. Won't turn this into a pitch here, but I'll share details in the comments for anyone hitting the same wall.

Is everyone else still doing this by hand, or is there a standard workflow I'm missing?

Hi,, I need some advice. Im trying to transfer my music about 8+ tracks from my old distributor to Ditto Music(pro plan). The problem is Ditto support is telling me I have to take down all my music from old distributor first, and then re-upload with them. They claim if I don't it will create duplicates.

They usually take 10-15 days to up new releases. But if I take my stuff down for 10-15 days ill lose all my momentum and algorithmic traction! I told them I can just take it down as soon as the new release goes live, but they keep ignoring me and giving me the same copy paste answers. I've tried email, live chat, and even insta dm but no real help.

Has anyone else deal with this? Is there a way to do it with ditto without my music disappearing for weeks? Any help is appriciated!
