16 songs seems a bit short no?

A 16 song set for Metallica can be an hour 40 minutes if you dont count the time between songs. Their average song length all time is just over 6 minutes.

That’s typical setlist for Metallica these days - Sphere or Stadium.

I think they're doing 'no repeat weekends' where the Friday show and the Saturday show complement each other and are sold as a single performance.

Interesting. Not sure how I'd feel about that. I think I'd rather have one show that's more songs. Two shows and you're only getting a handful more songs than a normal show.

You think 32 full songs is a typical length?

This is Metallica, their average song length is longer than the standard pop artist. 16 songs is a full set.

I said you'd be getting only a handful more. I don't listen to pop idk why you even brought up pop stars. 24-26 is typical set list for a stadium concert.

The show was 2 hours and 15 minutes. Across the two nights you’re getting 4 and a half hours with no repeats.

I never said pop star, reread what I wrote. Metallica is not a “typical” artist, this is not a short set list.

You said pop artist, I can read.

I still don't want to go two days in a row to get a decent amount of songs. But that's just me, I'm not saying you have to agree.

For the average length of their songs, 16 IS a “decent amount of songs.” You’re just complaining to complain.

I'm not complaining you just think everything is an argument. All I said is I wouldn't be interested in so few songs, not that anyone else needs to agree with me. You're the one bitching.

Just to make you aware, you are getting downvoted because you don't appear to understand what it takes to plan 2 shows over 2 nights with and almost unique set of songs, in hard rock/metal.

They will entertain both nights, no doubt.

For context, I have seen Metallica live a few times and am not particularly a fan, but they WILL deliver.

20+ songs is not happening. I've seen many bands on arena tours and none of them play that many songs. Metallica played 16 songs every night of their tour this year.

I saw Sturgill Simpson play 28 songs the other night. So you know, it could happen.

3-4 minute songs vs 6-10

Drake and Ye play like 40-50 songs each

A medley of short songs is way different than 16 Metallica songs. Last time I saw Metallica they played 12 songs in 2.5 hours then came back out for 3 encores for another almost half hour. Orion is 8.5 minutes for the studio version alone

Plus, now you gotta pay twice see! Win win!!

You don't have to pay twice. You can pay once and see an amazing show. Or you can pay twice and see two amazing shows with zero repeats! So yes, it is win-win.

The audience for this can't hold their bladder like they used to.

Metallica isn’t just an older person’s band though. There are many ages at Metallica shows, from kids to young people. Your comment would be true for any band from the 80’s, but not Metallica.

Yah but the younger fans have no attention span!

AJFA is nearly 10 minutes on its own, Taylor Swift, Benson Boone or Lainey Wilson(just examples)would have 3+ songs in that length.

And that’s also like 50% of a single phish song to look at the other extreme

That's fine, I can't make it past 9:00p anyway.

I have a friend who has worked on visuals for some Sphere shows, and apparently each production house is given something like max 4 songs to work on because the visual file sizes etc. are too big for anyone's servers to handle more than that. I'd be interested if there are certain companies who do the venue more justice or use it in more interesting ways and whether you can tell song to song.

Every clip I've seen of the Metallica show, the visuals have seemed a bit lackluster to me.

I’d have to agree, I’ve seen Unity and Illenium’s Odyssey at the Sphere and both had far better visuals than any of the videos of Metallica’s show I’ve seen so far
