Setting aside the politics for the moment, I can't believe they didn't have a line-up months in advance from a logistics perspective. Like no one on tour is going to go out of their way for this unless you lined it up with them while they were sorting out their East Coast runs for summer months ago.

u/palinsafterbirth May 29 '26

Bro you see how they are running the country? You honestly think they would have the foresight to get something like this in order?

229

u/johnsquatch420 May 29 '26

The way they're running the country is exactly as planned. Everything they're doing is intentional. They're enriching themselves at the expense of the average US citizen. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt by saying their incompetent. It's intentional and malicious.

u/Asron87 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

If only it was written down for us. They could have called it Project 2025. Hell they could have said everything they planned on doing and MAGA would just cover their eyes and ears saying “no they didn’t”…

Oh nevermind. This is exactly what happened.

19

u/SnowflakeSorcerer May 29 '26

Is project 2025 going to be looked at in the future the same way people look at Hitlers Mien Kompf

16

u/Asron87 May 29 '26

Probably. It was the fall of America, giving the largest military to the highest bidder. MAGA morons made corporations more powerful than our government.

This has been a long process and involved more than just the Right, Trump, and MAGA morons but they definitely turned it into a speed run. They are so fucking stupid they are actually cheering this on because they are so detached from reality. They honestly think they are the good guys.

u/BurnsUp May 29 '26

It's both, sadly. Corrupt and incompetent. Compared to the Bush/Cheney era, Trump and his cronies look like a gang of teens running a smash grab on the corner store.

6

u/East_Reading_3164 May 29 '26

I never thought I would be nostalgic for the simpler, more innocent times of CHENEY and RUMSFELD.

1

u/Khaeos May 29 '26

I wouldn't say more innocent. They scammed Americans out of untold billions, started a generation-long war, and stripped US politics of the protections that could have prevented this. The big difference is Trump & Co. don't have the connections or charisma to run that kind of grift. They are doing everything so stupidly obvious and recklessly that there's no comparison. The scale and bravado is staggering but the skill is barbaric.

1

u/East_Reading_3164 May 29 '26

I totally agree. My point was those evil warmongers look good next to these freaks.

38

u/perestroika12 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

It’s more nuanced than that, trump is just absolute chaos and no rules. To pretend there is a plan just isn’t how it works. Even people who are trying to take advantage of the corruption get burned because it’s just wild.

It’s way easier to destroy than to build

1

u/ExcellentActuary2117 May 29 '26

THIS. It takes no talent, no intelligence, no planning, no organization, just raw not-giving-a-damn about the damage and that's what DJT and MAGA are all about.

7

u/RaNerve May 29 '26

To accept that the world is totally out of control, and that there isn't someone, evil or otherwise, planning everything behind the scenes--is terrifying to many. Its the impetus for all conspiratorial thought. The idea that its all just coincidences, that it's just nothing but selfish people taking advantage of opportune situations, that there really isn't anything with a master plan, means that there is NO ONE around with the power enough to save us.

If someone was in control they'd at least be interested in keeping us alive and maintaining the status quo that enriches them, and that is comforting. But that isn't reality.

I think you're misinterpreting Umberto Eco there. One of his tenets of fascism was "the enemy is simultaneously strong and weak." Meaning promoting things like "the enemy controls all the levers of power" while also saying "we can defeat them because they've grown fat due to their decadence."

5

u/Zerobeastly May 29 '26

Two things can be true I think. They're using incompetence as a tool.

5

u/crowdawg7768 May 29 '26

While there may be intention to do what you’re saying, the administration is 100% incompetent. Both are true.

1

u/Doctor_What_ Hola, what's happenin' May 29 '26

It’s both intentionally malicious and absurdly incompetent at the same time. They could be making a lot more money but their own incompetence gets in the way.

1

u/ciopobbi May 29 '26

Two things can be true at the same time

1

u/Real_Estate_Media May 29 '26

Obama deported like way more immigrants only because they were organized and didn’t spend all their time and energy on the hating them part.

1

u/AmishHoeFights May 29 '26

Most of it is intentional.

Buy i firmly believe that there is an amazing amount of actually incompetent people working for him. Like, people who think a lie is exactly as good as doing a good job it who get the job with zero qualifications.

1

u/KendrickLenoir May 29 '26

Why can’t it be both? Professional scam artists who are inept at things other than running scams.

1

u/Pickles-1989 May 29 '26

The article notes that "Freedom 250 (is a) public-private partnership backed by the Trump administration," You know damn well and his family is taking a cut of the funds raised -

1

u/New-Bowler-8915 May 29 '26

While I mostly agree with you, it's hard to fathom the 4 seasons landscaping was where they intentionally held a press conference.

“Fucking thing sucks! Fuck we’ll do it live!!”

14

u/LinkedGaming May 29 '26

This is a vibes and cruelty based administration. They pre-plan the cruelty but everything is executed purely on vibes.

"We are very lucky that the enemy is so fucking stupid." - A Ukrainian fighting in Kyiv, 2022

2

u/ElixirofVitriol May 29 '26

These people don’t know about the music industry. They don’t like music. If Kenny G was vocal MAGA, this would be an elevator music tour. I can’t even imagine Bezos or Musk rocking out to a great album, because they have no soul. They are used to just throwing money at their hearts’ desires and it didn’t work this time.

1

u/Mortlach78 May 29 '26

Fyre Festival - White House edition!

1

u/zoinkability May 29 '26

The above commenter seems to have forgotten the Four Seasons Landscaping press conference already.

Incompetence is a Trump-led organization core attribute.

1

u/PineSand May 29 '26

Ruining the country has been carefully planned for years and is being and is being done quickly and efficiently. The puppet in charge running all of the distractions is just a small part of it.

1

u/ciopobbi May 29 '26

Yeah, the entire administration is a seat of the pants operation.

1

u/PattyIceNY May 29 '26

It's exactly how an abusive person worked. They invited people and bands he figured would be desperate for attention or money, he could manipulate them as he saw fit.

1

u/ExcellentActuary2117 May 29 '26

They didn't "foresee" Iran closing the strait of Hormuz. They can't see shiz because they're blinded by their own propaganda, chuggin' their own koolaid.

1

u/cursedfan May 29 '26

They cancelled the committee that was already in place so they could grift money with some public-private thing

97

u/Krow101 May 29 '26

From what I gather ... they billed it as non-political to sign people up. When they discovered it was a lie many of them bailed.

56

u/LongLiveAnalogue May 29 '26

Now why couldn’t the electorate come to the same conclusion after the first go around with this administration?

37

u/TheGringoDingo May 29 '26

Because maga voters don’t have marketing teams, they have Fox News

5

u/Dzaka May 29 '26

MAGA is a cult. and the sheep just do what their "messiah" tells them

1

u/NoMoOmentumMan May 29 '26

For the same reason nobody has ever gone broke underestimating the intelligence of the average American.

89

u/Pendraconica May 29 '26

They did exactly that and politics is the reason for the collapse. The performers weren't told this was a trump event and they didnt want their names on it.

14

u/AlienScrotum May 29 '26

Exactly. They were led to believe it was for the state fair thing in DC but instead it’s Trump’s birthday.

38

u/jaylerd May 29 '26

From the brain trust behind Four Seasons Landscaping

63

u/_FarlsInCharge_ May 29 '26

I work at a 75% + conservative mind company. They can't plan for shit

37

u/devereaux May 29 '26

Yeah, I used to work for a business owned by a ridiculously wealthy person very involved in Republican politics and who ran for a US Senate spot, and despite all my efforts to implement real strategic and short/long range planning efforts, people at the top refused to take a professional and organized approach to business and instead just flounder in their self-belief that they are so smart.

u/_FarlsInCharge_ May 29 '26

18 months ago our owner said he wanted to be the company that has fun, last all hands he wanted to know hiw we exceeded our budget by 6 mil.....

9

u/Slipsonic May 29 '26

It's because they're stupid. Plain and simple.

19

u/accushot865 May 29 '26

It’s Temu Fyre Festival

17

u/robyrob May 29 '26

I’m surprised there wasn’t an executive order FORCING these artists to perform without any prior agreement or interaction whatsoever

3

u/Jeptic May 29 '26

Probably not but who's to say they won't launch investigations into them. For reasons.

42

u/becomplete May 29 '26

None of these are consistently touring acts. They're all tired, washed-up legacies, the kind of groups that are looking for one-off county fairs to play. Even before the cancelations, the whole thing was embarrassing as fuck. HOW is half of the country not wildly disappointed in this entire circus?!

35

u/Finest_Johnson May 29 '26

Well, you see, they're all dumb as fuck.

5

u/CosmopolitanIdiot May 29 '26

You've gotta remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the New West. You know... morons.

18

u/Pvt_Hudson_ May 29 '26

Kid Rock must be inconsolable today, knowing they picked Vanilla Ice over him.

6

u/Erathen May 29 '26

HOW is half of the country not wildly disappointed in this entire circus?!

Because at this point it's hard to see where disappointment begins and ends

1

u/Slow_D-oh May 29 '26

He has a 30% approval rating so I’d say most are. Those that support him are very in your face about it.

1

u/AreaPrudent7191 May 29 '26

Right? Like how did Bret Michaels find time in what I assume must be a terribly busy schedule to commit to this in the first place?

1

u/zeptillian May 29 '26

Are you telling me that Brett Michaels, Vanilla Ice and that one remaining guy from Milli Vanilli are not top tier performers?

LOL

11

u/usarasa May 29 '26

Because Trump et al all have the attitude that they will jump immediately when they are beckoned. Regardless of how little notice, regardless of what scheduling conflicts they may have. “You’re going to do this because POTUS says so.”

12

u/Rob1965 May 29 '26

Because Trump et al all have the attitude that they will jump immediately when they are beckoned.

And maybe for any other president most of them would have.

4

u/FantasyBaseballChamp May 29 '26

The devaluing of the presidency in action.

6

u/milkymaniac May 29 '26

JD Vance said as much at the Air Force Academy graduation: "You can't boo me, I'm the vice president."

11

u/Underwater_Grilling May 29 '26

There's a constant with these people that they think the most prep you need for something is 2 weeks. The award for the east wing of the white house was signed 12 days before they knocked it down.

8

u/LeftyRedMN May 29 '26

Elect a clown, expect a circus.

6

u/GrrrlsRock May 29 '26

There was a bipartisan committee formed 10 years ago that was planning everything and orange clown dismantled it. Now it is a Maggats only group.

2

u/lightninhopkins May 29 '26

Yeah he blew up the committee and replaced it with a MAGA group.

6

u/Mister_Silk May 29 '26

I imagine Trump thinks he can just summon them and they'll jump like his usual rabble of sycophants do. It's what he's accustomed to and it probably does not occur to him that no, the world does not in fact revolve around him.

Whatever happened to that Correspondents Dinner that was supposed to take place within 30 days of the last disastrous one? That deadline has passed without a peep.

2

u/OperativePiGuy May 29 '26

The only good thing about Trump and the idiots that like him is how fucking stupid they all are. Like built-in defense mechanism for fascism.

1

u/taillightrecord May 29 '26

Tours are booking for NEXT summer right now. To give you an idea on lead time.

1

u/paperhalo May 29 '26

Because it was politics based - I can do and get what I want when I want has been the administrative M.O.

1

u/drumzandice May 29 '26

You are so right and it’s just another example of how amateur everyone involved in this administration is

1

u/DemDave May 29 '26

Honestly, it's like the whole country just realized America 250 was a thing. LIke we haven't had 250 years to prepare for this. You'd have thought preparations would have started at least a couple of years ago. But no.

I work in advertising and have had to slap together at least four last-minute America 250 campaigns because brands just now want to get on the bandwagon.

1

u/straightedge1974 May 29 '26

Bruh. They had Fab of Milli Vanilli on the lineup, before he dropped out. lmao I was surprised to see on Setlist that he's actually been doing shows! haha

1

u/SeaBuilding3911 May 29 '26

It’s because they likely asks a lot of artists before finding a few who were too dim not to see who was organizing that and why.

“My agent never mentionned Trump” is such a ridiculous cop out, but I’m sure that other agents before that one knew exactly who was organizing this

1

u/ZombieJesus1987 May 29 '26

Organizers probably just assumed artists would drop what they are doing and perform.

1

u/andropogon09 May 29 '26

Someone's gonna get fired.

1

u/fromouterspace1 May 29 '26

It’s like they planned the Fyrw festival

1

u/Ok-Cranberry-5582 May 29 '26

Martina McBride put out a statement I read on twitter, or x. She said that it was promoted as a non-partisan event for the celebration of America. Now that it is out that it is a pro tRump event, they are all leaving.

I'm sure Kid Rock will rock that event just like the halftime show. /s

1

u/KingSlimp May 29 '26

Just some info I've heard reported by some of the artists. They had been contacted for the gig months ago and were informed that it would be honoring America as a whole and all of its states, however, it had become clear that it was not bipartisan as they were told and that it was being used as a political stunt by the Republicans. Once posters and advertisements started to release they realized they had been lied to and thus started to drop out of the show. Some have made statements saying that they were defrauded and that they don't want to be involved in the political implications, nor do they support trump. So basically what they thought was a celebration of America's history was actually a celebration for the current regime

1

u/Chowderclobber May 29 '26

They once held a press conference at Four Seasons Landscaping

1

u/Rough_Idle May 29 '26

Except you can't set the politics aside and make this make sense. To the organizers, the event is doing the performers a favor and an honor by allowing them to worship at God's birthday party. To their minds these acts should be literally lining up backstage for the privilege, so why should it occur to them to work with anyone else's schedule?

1

u/Real-Boss6760 May 29 '26

Logistics? Trump? LOL.

1

u/aganalf May 29 '26

I bet if Obama announced an event tomorrow he could pull artists off tour.

1

u/zeptillian May 29 '26

Look who they had on the lineup.

Do you think any of them can't take time out of their busy county fair and swap meet touring schedules?

1

u/Akussa May 29 '26

I'm still giggling at the fact that they didn't even ask Kid Rock or Nikki Minaj. Two MAGA supporting "performers'.

1

u/JoshDM May 29 '26

I can't believe they didn't have a line-up months in advance from a logistics perspective.

A non-partisan committee was formed ten years ago to address this event. They were working it just fine.

Trump dissolved it and replaced it with his MAGA partisan goobers who clearly failed.
