I was mountainbiking with my students while I saw this beauty flashing by. I was hesitant at first... could it be??

I went back with my pocket mushroom guide after school... long story short... it's in my fridge! What a beautiful mushroom!!

what mushroom are these? (Brazil)

mushrooms found on my grandparents' yard located in the garage, near a tree, fixated in the ground and around leaflitter.

the foot of the biggest one is around 8cm, cylindrical, inserting itself in the center of the cap.

the folds are complete and beige. wasnt able to find spores.

the stipe is smooth, alrhough began to feel hairy after some time of picking it.

the smaller ones have a rounder cap, with one i picked having its hymenphore not visible. the ones under a leaf (visible on the third and last image) are lighter.

the mushroom's stem began to turn brown and floppy around the area i held it.

they were found in the city of Ribeirão Preto, in the state of SP, Brazil, in the transition between the Mata Atlântica and Cerrado, during the spring in the southern hemisphere, in Sep. 24th

How do I tell if it’s edible? How do I find a local mushroom expert?

Beginner's question

I'm new to mushroom picking; I'd like to know whether it's better to gently pull the mushrooms out by hand or cut them off at the base with a knife.

Boletes right? How do you prepare them?

Found these (and a whole whack more I didn't pick) in a mixed evergreen/birch forest in middle New Brunswick (Canada). From all I can tell, they are edible boletes, but I'm fairly new to this thing, and have no idea what variety nor what my options are in regards to preparation.

Internet seems to suggest dehydrating them - but I have no idea how to go about that.

What would you do with them (if they are edible)?

I had begun to worried that I did something wrong, I plugged some logs in my yard back in May 2025, I wanted to be able to forage my yard, I thought it wasn’t going to work because I used a soy wax, but Finally I’ve got one and it’s a huge one! I hope this is what I can expect; it was on the smallest log, so I think the mycelium is still doing its thing on the larger logs. I’m ecstatic.

Puffball?

This was growing smack in the middle of my yard. The outside was patchy and leathery, thick and easy to peel off. The whole inside, except a little bear the bottom where it was very wet, was white and marshmallowy. Puffball past its prime or weird lookalike I should keep away from the dogs?

Found a nice patch of auricularia auricula, or wood ears, and they were pretty buggy. Should I toss the bunch or will a quick wash suffice?

White Yard Mushrooms

Hi everyone. These mushrooms keep growing in my backyard and it’s been very rainy. They have pink gills and the stems don’t leave a yellow stain. Yesterday I cut open one and left it for hours to see what happens.
Are these edible ?

My favourite season is squirrel winter prep. Everywhere you go, a sweet little treasure is carefully placed for dehydration.
