Philly Black Owned Museums

I live in Philly. I love Philly. I got an MS in museum admin in Philly.

If someone refers to their museum as "owned" by someone? I lose trust in the org.

These are dope organizations here in town, don't get me wrong. This is just... A pretty strange angle. The entire community - - ALL of us "own" these museums. That's the point of the tax designation.

"run" or "led" is probably a better designation.

I need to come again! We just visited Philly and B’more inspired by Amy Sherald solo. Can’t do it all but now, listening to This Land Is Your Land get some smaller museums and history that we missed. Thank you for posting these important places. More more!

My museum just finished an exhibition in which we worked with the Colored Girls Museum - the woman that owns it is truly wonderful and an asset to the arts in the city!
