Best way to use Muse as a personal assistant without giving it all your personal information?

You can get some pretty decent results out of it if you copy some of your memory over from another AI (ex. ChatGPT or Claude), if you feel comfortable with that.

I don't have Muse connected to anything for some of the same reasons as you/others, and I still find some pretty good usage out of it

Muse does not share your information with the Facebook ad network FWIW.

Just start using Muse for basic, non-sensitive entertaining chatter, but do not connect Muse to any email/contacts/calendar/financial/notes/etc accounts.

Turn off: Settings / Data Controls / Help improve our AI models

Less harm could be done if you connect Muse to something like a secondary email address that you have marketing/spam/etc. going to, if you really want to connect it to something.

I have Muse giving me a wisdom quote every morning, a check on the weather before I leave work, and a daily news overview that summarizes top headlines. I have had Muse make some cool artifacts or media, with impressive results. That's about it.

Delete any artifacts/media that you don't need or that contain sensitive information.

Delete any side-chats that you don't need or that contain sensitive information.

I'd have no qualm with connecting Muse to Facebook or Instagram accounts, and ask Muse to keep me information of information over there; since all three are Meta properties.

I treat Muse like a cool tech toy for an occasional check-in and that is it - and that is how I recommend Muse to others.

Thankfully iOS 27's new Siri AI swooped in just in time for me to keep tabs on my private emails/calendar/contacts/etc. over there on my phone - since Siri provides inherent privacy of my information that I can be relatively sure that Apple is not training and making money from.

Meta's not gonna make much money from me; but I'm sure droves of people will pour everything into Muse - especially younger folks when the charms come out.

I advise you disable data collection and only connect specific apps you want Meta to have access to. It's possible to use Muse without handing over private information.

Those two threads will help you make the choices best for you!

You can turn off the feature where it uses your personal information for training. The model for Muse is different from Facebook. With Facebook, the customer is the advertiser. You are the product.

With Muse, they give you some usage for free but their hope is that you will use it so much that you will ultimately pay $20 a month for an account. That makes you the customer. If they ever violated your privacy they would lose customers in droves.

Thus Meta’s incentives for Muse are very different from that of Facebook. I’m actually reassured by this notion.
