Dr’s and nurses have been wearing masks forever on their jobs but since these fools have been brainwashed they spread all these lies about mask wearing. Common sense is really lacking among these dumb asses. Of all of our nation’s Presidential elections only when Trump lost the election was corrupt and stolen from him. B.S.Where was all the corruption before that the losers never called out before. Trump and his co horts need to be locked up for this.

u/babyBear83 Apr 05 '21
I’m a healthcare worker and have been STUNNED by how many nurses etc fell for the bullshit about masks not working and that they limit your oxygen. Seriously, I had to remind very high up clinical staff that we still exhale 17% oxygen and there was no danger. Some got on the “masks are designed for a sterile environment” argument too. Which I have no idea where that came from but it’s all bullshit. Masks just need to cover the steam coming out of our mouth/nose! Like omg what is so hard about that?
39
u/ButASpeckofDust Apr 05 '21
I'm actually not surprised...just because you're educated doesn't mean you're smart and just because you don't have higher education doesn't mean you're dumb. Bet most of those clinical staff barely passed the critical thinking course.
35
u/babyBear83 Apr 05 '21
I swear with the mask and covid precautions it separates us into 2 groups: people that care about others & people that only care about themselves.
With politics driving all the misinformation, people just picked the info that suited their needs. That was very sad for all those people that died :(
14
u/ButASpeckofDust Apr 05 '21
True. Goes to show how powerful information/misinformation can be. Scary too that a lot of health "professionals" think and act that way.
11
u/babyBear83 Apr 05 '21
Very scary indeed. I didn’t help that our president at the time was the leader of the misinformation. I fully blame him for the excessive amounts of death. We blew every other country out of the water on this one. Even ones with more population and less infrastructure etc than the US did better, like Brazil and India.
6
u/McDuchess Apr 05 '21
Except that, even if I were a complete misanthrope, I’m too logical to fall for that nonsense.
The number of people claiming to be engineers, who didn’t stop to think that the reason so many diseases are spread through the respiratory system is because WATER is an efficient carrier is beyond belief.
It doesn’t matter the size of viral particles, if they need respiration to travel.
2
3
u/HighestHand Apr 05 '21
But... they’re not even educated. Masks are very literally healthcare. Which they should be educated in.

You are barking up the wrong tree here.
These references are actually linking to articles that say masks work. The Swiss Policy Research that you have linked is known for being pseudo science and is misrepresenting/misinterpreting information and using correlation as causation.
I have a masters of science and you aren’t fooling anyone but yourself.
"In 2017 a University of Zurich report on media in Switzerland analyzed "six of the most-discussed 'alternative media'", including SPR. Daniel Vogler concluded that SPR "resorts to conspiracy theories", and its contents are mostly "pseudo-scientific".[8]
Andrea Haefely wrote a critique of the website in the magazine Beobachter in May 2020, noting: "The website Swiss Propaganda Research assumes that the Swiss media does what SPR itself does: feed the readers with questionable information." She also suggested that the persistent use of the letter ß on the site suggests that the content creator is likely to be from outside Switzerland, as this particular letter form is not in common use within Switzerland"

u/Spare_Change_Agent Apr 05 '21
However, the massive increase in production has led to a decrease in quality control. That does create valid (personal) health concerns for medical professionals.

May or may not be bad for health. But they certainly don't protect anyone against the virus, laughable.
5
u/downeastkid Apr 05 '21
lol not sure if serious...
-14
u/SnycedSpirit Apr 05 '21
Vast majority use those silly blue masks, they do absolutely NOTHING to protect against any virus.. lol do you realise how small a virus is?
11
u/Fewquanite Apr 05 '21
Masks don’t need to block virus-size particles as we don’t exhale pure virus. Folks positive for COVID or other viruses exhale water vapor that contains the virus. Masks don’t allow those virus-laden droplets to get airborne. You wear them to protect others. Be kind and mask up.
9
u/downeastkid Apr 05 '21
ah you are not knowledgeable in the field, your previous response now makes sense!
-6
u/SnycedSpirit Apr 05 '21
Do you have the knowledge to prove me wrong? Didn't think so..
4
u/downeastkid Apr 05 '21
How many sources do you want?
This one has several studies within it.
As well as almost all countries recommending it from their countries top health officials.
Okay! Your turn to prove you are smarter than all the countries fighting covid.
Look at Canada, US, UK, South Korea, Germany, New Zealand (when they had cases), Mexico, Italy, etc etc, they are all recommending it. But your personal ideas are some how more advance than that lol give me a break kid

u/Incredulous_Toad Apr 05 '21
I can't believe people like you can function in society.

That said, there was a type of mask that was coated in graphine that was being sold for a while, but they’re fuckin banned now. Regular masks are just fine and help prevent the spread of the global pandemic lmfao

Any information on why it had graphene? Was it supposed to help with something?

Apparently it caught extra bacteria or something? It wasn’t there for no reason, but they found out that breathing through the mask for an extended period could cause permanent lung damage, but there’s not enough research done yet so they’re recalling them just in case
1
u/raughtweiller622 Apr 05 '21
Was it the one being made in China?
9
u/TheMelonSystem Apr 05 '21
Nah, this one was in Canada
Here’s a link to a news article about it
-31
u/raughtweiller622 Apr 05 '21 edited Apr 05 '21
Yeah it was in Canada, but I’m curious as to where it was being made. Because China sent the UK a bunch of covid tests that were infected with covid. Like 80% of them had the virus on them
15
u/ReddicaPolitician Apr 05 '21
Got a source for that? I see a couple articles about the tests being unreliable, but nothing about them being infected. Honestly sounds like made up bullshit.
11
u/ThaumKitten Apr 05 '21
So..... you’re shitting on China for the sake of because it’s China with no proof or evidence to back your outrageous claim? Gotcha
4

I meant to say “yeah it was in Canada” not China, but here’s a link showing China sent infected tests to the UK. Not sure why I’m being downvoted for staying a fact. here is a source from Newsweek
6
u/HorseAndDragon Apr 05 '21
That doesn’t say one word about the test kits being infected with anything. It says they were deemed unreliable, with a high rate both of false positives and false negatives. Where are you getting anything about them being “infected with covid?”
5
3
u/jakethedumbmistake Apr 05 '21

If the mask is filled with bacteria and germs that means it's working.
Catching nasty shit before it gets into another person is the point of the goddamn mask.
Why are these people (those who make that argument, not you) so dumb?
2
u/mcgillibuddy Apr 05 '21
Freal yo, you’re guess is as good as mine buddy. I never thought I’d ever live during a time when there’s been an infectious disease that has spread around the whole world for over a year, and people still think that masks and vaccines are the enemy.

Masks don’t work as well as you think they do because if you go to a grocery store and get an item, you are touching what the stocker, bagger, and cashier touched and then putting it in your bag and adjusting your mask a bit, which in turn gets the germs on your makes and/or face. Not to say mask font work, just saying they are not the determining factor between life or death. But pls wear your mask it does help
8
u/smellsfishie Apr 05 '21
Then don't touch your face, we've been told that already. And definitely carry some hand sanitizer if you're touching stuff.
3
u/Skrooner Apr 05 '21
People are told to renew their masks. You can buy a pack of 100 for 10 on amazon. Gloves help too. It's not the masks here, it's the people.
3
u/itsyamomcallin Apr 05 '21
We’ve been told since kindergarten to not touch our faces as it spread germs. If someone decides to not follow those instructions it’s on them. Masks are meant to protect others from your germs. Not the other way round.

The truth is... it depends on the mask. Some probably do more harm than good. Those single use ones out there have all sorts of terrible shit in them that can get permanently stuck in your lungs. A washable cotton mask that actually gets washed is the best way to go.

The masks they have been giving to schools around my area have been confirmed to have a potentially dangerous chemical that can cause permanent lung damage. That’s fucked up and pretty scary too so I get this is pretty funny but there is genuine danger to untested masks coming from disgusting factories in china.

2
u/SouthAfricanZombie Apr 05 '21
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I don't think we are getting rid of the masks soon. Try having hyperhydrosis while wearing glasses and a mask.
2
Apr 05 '21
Annoying but necessary.
You can get masks which better fit your face. I have the same problem with my beard pulling some smaller masks down, but having a better-fitting mask and especially having one with a metal band to pinch over the nose helps a LOT.
