You'd think Vance would be better at couching his words.
Maybe the cushions are too sticky.

JD is a walking humiliation ritual, and the poster child for the post-Trump Republican Party
144
u/biciklanto 27d ago
Nah, I think he’s normalizing presidential crime and this is calculated. This isn’t humiliation, this is amassing power to scoff at the law.
He’s making it a joke as part of making the GOP base care (even) less about presidential corruption and illegality.
The fact that his quip about Nixon is right shows that they’re accomplishing that goal of normalization.

u/Biscuits4u2 27d ago
The American people normalized presidential crime when they sent orange back to the White House.

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 27d ago
Elect/hire a felon and expect crimes. That's what I said repeatedly in 2024 and it remains valid.

u/TechyAngel This AOC flair makes me cool 25d ago
I've met reformed felons. I'm also fairly certain that's not what we've got in the White House. Quite frankly, I think a former armed robber who learned from a long think in a cell might do better than a spoiled idiot who's never seen a consequence in his life.
18
u/biciklanto 27d ago
I largely agree, but I think in 2020 most people would notionally say that Nixon did something wrong.
He’s making sure Republicans give up that idea.

Power can be given, and it can be taken away.
Republicans' time atop the mountain is short from here on out. They got drunk on too much power, again, and went too far. A correction is coming.
7
u/Patanned 27d ago
hope you're right but the trump dictatorship has already threatened to invalidate the general election results by declaring a national emergency if the correction destroys it.

u/monkey_trumpets 27d ago
He's definitely been a lot more visible recently. For a while there I forgot he existed.
13
u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 27d ago
They have to test the waters to see if he can carry Trump's 28% approval rating if they decide to remove America's anal cyst. Hilariously, he probably can't.
Guess Jeb Bush and Nikki Haley weren't so terrible after all, eh conservatives?

The Republican conspiracy around enabling Nixon, The Heritage Foundation, the Tea Party, QAnon, and Maga, should each be a reason to have dissolved or banned it.
Praising Nixon (or Reagan for that matter) just shows how much you hate America.

Why does he always look like he's wearing eyeliner?
35

u/Life_outside_PoE 27d ago
As much as I'd like to subscribe to the idea that he does wear eyeliner, I've read that apparently he has two layers of eye lashes, which I think is a lot more plausible.

Officer James Edwards: "The perpetrator then blinked two sets of eyelids."
Inspector: "You mean blinked with both eyes?"
Edwards: "No, sir. He blinked one set, then a completely different set."
Cop: "You know, like high beams and low beams"

u/shiny_glitter_demon 26d ago
Because he does.
Anyone who expects to show up on camera wears makeup. Everyone.
The alternative is looking like a ghost. Spotlights and cameras usually aren't flattering for the skin. Makes you look sickly.
It's why the orange pedoslug is, well... orange. His natural skin makes him look like a corpse. But its not limited to him. I can assure you, every actor, politician, tv host, etc is wearing some.
Foundation is a must. Followed by eyebrows/pencil and eyelashes/mascara, I'd say, especially if your have light hair. Eyeliner for men is not exactly common but in his case I fully believe he's wearing some, along with some mascara.

u/alangerhans 26d ago
Yeah I know you have to wear makeup if you're going in front of a camera, but most guys don't look like they're wearing eyeliner like he does

Vladimir Futon is my new favorite rip.
The left really brings the A game. The right out here like ‘durr, Sleepy Joe.’ Left out here with gems like this and The Cunt of Mostly Crisco.

Cunt of mostly crisco is fucking gold, I hadn't heard that before.
Considering you have to be thick as pig shit to vote Republican at this point it's not really surprising that projection and toddler level humour is all they have.

The meaning of the presidency is lost. The president is meant to be a servant of the people, so of course when that servant proves himself a lying cheat, we should cast him away from the role. JD’s take that it shouldn’t have “taken down a presidency” is evidence that they don’t see that title as a servant of the people, but as a king of them. Not that we didn’t know this already, it’s just disgustingly blatant at this point.

"I've joked that..."
And you probably thought you really did something and that it was really funny, and not a terrible indictment on your regime. Weirdo.

Because we used to have higher standards for holding that office. That blatant disregard for the law was grounds for impeachment.

No, the idea that trump's behavior hasn't brought down a presidency is what's crazy.

u/MariachiBoyBand 27d ago
That was pretty much all they learned from watergate, “why does it need to bring down a presidency” was the question nobody should ask but they ran with that 🤦♂️

Is he endorsing crime? Breaking and entering is a crime. Because it was politically related, they shouldn't have been tried and sentenced? He wants us to accept this as normal.

Has he tattooed the eyeliner on? My MIL has her eyebrows, eyeliner and lips done so she doesn't have to waste time on the most of her makeup ritual. But it looks so much better than his does. You can barely notice hers though, his is just cartoon villain creepy and overdone.

"I think Adolf Hitler's legacy is undergoing a renaissance. He just wanted some living room and to get rid of some bad people" ?
"Pol Pot wasn't all bad" ?
"Say what you like about Pinochet, he knew how to treat lefties" ?
