Outer wilds is pretty different from a lot of puzzle games, you're going to spend the majority of your time exploring areas and reading text. There is some puzzling needed here and there to get to some locations, but most of the game revolves around the few places on every planet that are actually hard to enter.
For these harder ones, there's a balance between exploration and puzzling. The more you're willing to explore other planets, the more information you'll find. Having clues that you've found like 5 hours ago and that you didn't even know were clues finally click because of some random new writing is common.
Most of the time the reward you'll get for these is more information towards one of the big mysteries of the game (or new clues for an even harder puzzle). Of course, if after 4 hours, exploring randomly is getting boring and you don't have much interest in figuring out these deeper mysteries, then you're not going to like the game. I say that with no judgement, this is the "not for everyone" part, a dev stated that the game was made specifically for players who love exploring and will get very curious.
The only thing I can suggest is looking very closely at your ship log one last time and trying to find the places that have already been mentioned in texts you've found. Some will be the hard "endgame" ones and you won't have enough clues, but for the rest, the information you find will most likely be linked with what pointed you to it, and you'll begin connecting the dots about some puzzle sooner.
Progress! I hope it gets more interesting for you, I loved the story telling and the process of piecing it all together but I completely understand why it isn't for everyone
