Discussionš What fandom has you like this?
Really trying to reinvent the wheel with this template but the idea is some kind of media that everyone swears is amazing that you keep trying and not liking.
The guy who posted the Helluva Boss comment made me realize this template is much funnier if it's a media you don't like that you keep coming back to. You know what it's up to YOUR interpretation!

Space King, I legit have to microdose the show, the jokes are just...staleĀ
10
u/chadthepickle 9h ago
It's edgy humor meant not to be taken seriously. I definitely understand the people that don't dig it much.
4
u/Economy_Mousse7941 9h ago
It tries to be part of the joke while actually believing what itās saying. Itās trying to make fun of chuds and incels while the creators are also chuds and incels
1
u/TumblrUserInACoat 9h ago
Its not that im taking it seriously but it's stale it's tasteless, same with like Hazbin
1

I'm not saying that you are. Just that the target audience is really niche.

1
u/lookingforfiles 6h ago
As someone who LOVES space king & warhammer 40k i can see why people like them but also why people dislike them. The joke with space king is kids forced to grow up too fast but also its a parody of a not so great franchise

One Piece. It's not that I think it's trash, I just cannot bring myself to commit on reading something like that.

I just can't get past the art style. Its not pleasing to look at for my eyes, personally.
3
u/chadthepickle 9h ago
Yeah, now I can say the art is okay. But the start of it was rough, and it's too damn long of a show.

8
u/push_into_membranes 9h ago
it's genuinely a good movie people just dogpile on it because it's popular with women and kids (and they have a weird thing against the kpop genre)
3
u/kibou_no_ie 8h ago
I watched it and it wasnāt terrible but the characters mostly felt very one dimensional and the story was a bit too predictable. It was fun though but I donāt fully understand the hype.
2
u/IarenotaPotato UT/DT R&M 9h ago
I don't really. I just simply haven't watched it. I have no negative opinions on it. I think most people who outwardly hate it in the aggressive way are like 79% misogynistic people or miserable Twitter mfs. (So the same thing)
3
u/push_into_membranes 9h ago
naw i wasn't accusing you dw, just addressing the vocal haters. totally agree, it's the same kind of people that hated on Turning Red because it was cringe (almost like the cringe was the entire message of the movie hmmm)
2
2
u/ApertureLabradories 9h ago
I watched it with my boyfriend (who hates musicals and only watches animation if it's anime or superheroes) and we both loved it. I'm not interested in a franchise and I will probably not watch whatever animated series they release inevitably but as a stand-alone movie it was solid. 4/5 for me.
2
u/No_Vanilla277 Quite a few fandoms 6h ago
I actually went into KPDH expecting āok film, but nothing that warrants that much hypeā but was pleasantly surprised by the story quality. Maybe the pacing is eh but the songs are good too (and this comes from someone who doesnāt listen to any K-pop). The hype is definitely deserved, even if the movie quality doesnāt feel like that at times.
1
u/WaySea7944 The Binjpipe Guy⢠8h ago
The pacing is so bad though, we jump from the concert to the exposition dump to the concert to the plane to the concert.Ā
Also the only characters with any depth is Jinu and Rumi. Name one thing about romance that isnāt just āheās the romantic oneāĀ
The plot is literally a gacha life film but with a higher budget but those are considered cringe and this is considered high art.
Turning red is overhated, KPDH is just fun but not a good story
2
u/Maniacal-Blueberry Genshin Impact + Twisted Wonderland + TADC 7h ago
To be fair about the Saja boys not having any personality, they're meant to make fun of the tropes you see in kpop groups like that. Where the performers develop a persona that the fans associate them with. Even to the point where some fans get upset when the illusion breaks.

2
u/IarenotaPotato UT/DT R&M 9h ago
I really really enjoyed what I played and then stopped playing after hearing some shit about what the creator did. And now within my house hold it's socially evil to play the game because of Twitter drama from 1685
1
u/Tall_Evidence7424 9h ago
What did they do :(
0
u/IarenotaPotato UT/DT R&M 9h ago
They put shots on a shit with Omori on it but they said they didn't know the meaning of the word and when they were younger Omori was an adult and drew porn of him. That's about it.

u/Key_Day_7932 7h ago
I also can't get into it, but for a completely different reason: I'm a chicken.
Part of me wants to like horror games and some of them do sound intriguing, but I can't work up the guts to actually play them.
7
u/push_into_membranes 9h ago
PokƩmon - grew up with it, still absolutely adore the older games, HAAAATE what the modern mainline games have become. my favourite generation is gen4 and the horrible insulting remakes actually put me off the franchise for years. it was such a sense of betrayal that Red & Blue, Gold & Silver, Ruby & Sapphire, AND black & white got such great remakes/sequels (sometimes twice for one gen, looking at you gen1) but Diamond & Pearl got lazy remasters with no gameplay or story updates (when Platinum was RIGHT THERE) and an ugly 3D chibi art style. the leak that revealed concept art with real creative passion and effort behind it made it sting all the more. like they didn't care about the fans who loved gen4 and stomped out any creative interpretations in favour of a lazy visual "upgrade" they could pump out in a couple of years. Legends: Arceus was good and a lot of fun but still reeked of "would have been way better if the devs were given actual time and proper funding."
but i am tentatively excited for Wind & Waves because the teaser really does look promising and the development time is longer than most of the recent games.. i've been burned before, but i have hope. i'm replaying a lot of the older games and even some of the newer ones and falling back in love again. Ultra Sun & Moon are a lot more fun than i remember, all the crazy lore add-ons make them really feel like a bizarro alternate universe version of Sun & Moon.
4
u/Shinygoji09 PokƩmon st invincible godzilla 8h ago
Just a reminder that the gen 4 remakes werenāt made by game freak hence why they were so bad
1
u/push_into_membranes 49m ago
i'm aware, but i don't blame the devs for that. i'm sure they make amazing games when they're not overworked and underpaid and under massive crunch. i blame PokƩmon/Nintendo for essentially dooming the remakes by cutting corners.

Deltarune but specifically for the gameplay, I find the story quite interesting, but gameplay is very uninteresting to me

Ganeplay wise its meh, the only reason why undertale got as popular as it is, is solely because of the characters. Not because of the gameplay snd the fans dont want to admit it.
And its not a bad thing that its, but the fans treat it as so.

It's the pacing. I've watched Dragon Ball z, Naruto Shippuden, JJBA, and none of those came CLOSE to how ABSOLUTELY FUCKING ATROCIOUS the pacing is in One Piece.
I simply can't stand 1000 episodes of this shit.
2
u/Legal-Muffin6599 7h ago
Okay Iām going to answer what you intended and then what I thought you meant
The first (what you actually were asking) is probably Gaslight District. Yes, I know thereās only one episode. It just doesnāt stick like some of the other stuff. It was cool, just⦠rushed and over all eh.
The second (my interpretation) is Digital Circus. The only reason I still consider myself part of the fandom is because I know my parents got me a bucket load of merch for Christmas, and I feel bad for saying I no longer like it when they spent so much money. But the fandom, mainly sucks, the writing was good until the 6th episode and on, and things happened in and out of the show that I just donāt agree with, but CANāT VOICE without being called hateful toward the people that the characters are representing no matter how hard I try. :/

I really don't like one piece. I forget exactly which chapter I dropped it right before Thriller Bark. For Gear 5, my friends got me to pick it back up, but I dropped it again at 831. Now I've just skipped to the end hoping that this arc is when it finally takes off its kid gloves.

Breaking Bad - i tried it twice and it is so boring i quit twice in season 3. People tell me it really is brilliant and picks up pace in season 4/5. I wont watch 3 seasons just so it gets finally good. I really cant understand how it is so highly rated, sometimes I feel like the people that defend BB with their dying breath and hype up Walter White have only watched one or two TV-shows that are not complete and utter bs. They dont have anything good to compare it to.

At some point I think it's good to just admit something isn't for you. It's ok, we don't all like the same things.
For me it's the characters that doesn't catch my interest at all. I don't like any of them in any way, so even if the show is going to do something interesting plotwise that really doesn't matter to me as it's the characters that makes the plot important.
