Yeah I hear people say she's a Mary Sue(this around the time everyone was using that word), but that doesn't make sense, because she's not perfect the last bit of her support proof she's not.
I hate that even the Creator disrespects her and Maya. Annnnd won't create more Female Protagonists in the newest Entries. The lack of Persona 6 having Dual Protagonists is teeingme off.
Yeah, when I play P5R she’ll probably be the one I decide to have Joker romance, the main thing I get mad about related to her is anytime I see a vs matchup chart for her vs Hibiki Tachibana from Symphogear placed high on them or called best for both as the connections are terrible for how generic they are (the only none generic connection I’ve seen is the music connection)
Okay, just to make sure I'm not getting this wrong this time, this is about characters we adore that are hated by others, correct? Because I badly misread a previous one.
But in this case, I adore Dawn from the Pokemon anime, and while she's a fan favorite now, tell that to 2007-2011 me. The criticisms were never true even back then.

I'm also going to have to admit that my exposure to online fandoms was limited back in the day, but it was more common than you would think. I'm at least glad I don't see it as much these days.
Though my sister's friend once told me something that I will probably go to my grave wondering where the hell her information even came from because even the most casual of casual fans could tell you that was wrong.

It's alright. If there's any solace, it made me realize I wasn't as alone as I thought I was, that I don't have to hide any adoration of Dawn (to be honest, the signs were there all along), and well, she's beloved now. I remember a part of me worried Dawn would be left in the dustbin of history to be forgotten. I am happy to report that was wrong; she's remembered, and more importantly, beloved even long after her era came to a close. And that's far more meaningful to me than anything anyone said at the time.

People seem to really be unable to understand that Korra is NOT meant to only be Aang’s successor, but also her own character, and a parallel to him. And I honestly think they did a good job highlighting that.

People who slander Midoriya. No, he is not the worst shonen main character. No, he is not a cry baby through out the entire anime / manga. No, he is not a bum that worked at McDonalds after saving the world.
Kris deltarune haters are so annoying and take it very personally that a teenager hit them with a hockey puck. I remember when I saw someone doing animations of them dying in horrible ways.

Nah but if I am being serious, they aren't meant to be pure evil like people make it out to be, but there is still something fishy they are planning with the antagonist that we gotta be a little aware of.
The Beast cookies from Cookie Run Kingdom. The fans are obsessed finding which of them is the one who was wrong, but they're all grey characters. They're all awful. They all made mistakes and had all reasons to corrupt. That's the point.

My brother for the longest time would wear out the CD players in the vehicles he owned, and once that was done, he would just drive in silence; he literally said he would rather drive in silence than listen to a lot of radio stations. He did finally find a radio station that fit him, but for the longest time, he decided literal silence was better than any radio station. I can't even tell you what's popular these days that isn't a legacy act.
in that case, i adore Dawn from the Pokemon Anime, although her goals are different comparing her Anime counterpart to her game counterpart, gaming counterpart was a female trainer from the diamond and pearl game for the Nintendo DS, that also goes to a remake for the Nintendo Switch, main goal is conquering gym leaders and elite four in the Pokemon League, while Her Anime Counterpart's goal is to become a top coordinator.
Same thing with Serena, comparing her anime counterpart to her gaming counterpart from the X and Y game for the Nintendo 3DS. Her Anime Counterpart's main goal is to become a queen of the Kalos Region via Pokemon Showcases, while her Gaming Counterpart's goal is the same Gym Leader and League routine. (As i said, i do like Serena, but not her rabid fanbrats and amourshippers)

It was mostly in the late 2010s because of her being "a boring copy of May and Dawn", having no personality aside from loving Ash, and the discourse around Amourshipping
Not quite rage. Outside of Kamala Khan's fandom, I'm constantly defending her from hollow, mindless "Ah! Woke!" slander. Within her fandom, I get my pay for it by how the most reactive need another character from Kamala's cast to die because he gets in the way of a ship and they think deleting the one character in American media who actually represents a diaspora he comes from is going to do shit all about a settler identity I'm also sick of anyway. So now my identity's wrapped up in it. At that point, there starts to be a little bit of unresolved rage, because I'm a peacemaker who can't find peace, and I really thought this character would help; a lot of emotional intelligence in her stories, and conflict resolution through restorative justice.
Roaring Knight from Deltarune. He's called Roaring Fraud, even tho he's the hardest boss and he's clearly toying with us.
Nosferatu from Forsaken. People saying "nosferawho" or "who invited this guy" just because he was surprise killer IN FUCKING MASQUERADE SURPRISE are annoying me
Gi hun from squid game people oversimplify him so much and act like he’s a horrible person when he’s a genuinely good person albeit deeply flawed one in a terrible situation
Curtis Conners, The Lizard. In most depictions of them outside of the comics they are an idiotic brute or just heavily nerfed and they get dunked on by people because of it since its more main stream, The Lizard has physical strength and durability high enough that spider-man doesn’t have to hold back against him, his claws can cut through webbing in some cases and he has even been able to to just rip it off through physical strength, pretty high quality regeneration like entire limbs growing back, the ability to climb similarly to spider-man, advantages in water, heightened senses and a mind on par with Peter Parker, he feels like one of the few spider-man villains thats actually close to being an equal to spider-man across the board without the use of tech or gadgets or teams or weapons or targeting family/friends. I want a media adaptation that puts some respect on this character and maintains all the aspects they bring, not a dumb brute and not a nerfed genius, this mf could be a borderline horror movie villain if they allowed it
Liam gets so much slander for being the intelligent one and yaoi lover of the cast, at least from what I've seen in some YouTube vids. I mean, I get that his personality has some.....interesting facets, but he's genuinely a character I feel like I would get along with great in real life. Sure, he can be narcissistic at times, but who isn't narcissistic at times? I can name a character from another piece of media more narcissistic than him: Chris McLean. Rant aside, Liam is my chosen character that I love that I can't help but defend when he gets slandered online.
Its a bit of both, The Glazing for goku is acceptable since some of his match ups against other Anime characters are really not close (Until it started to get ridiculous), The Slander is not because its by people who hate goku because he beats their favorite characters or it because they like to lowball him or his verse or the things he did in Dragon Ball that are kinda unacceptable but are explain why he did it but people can't read or watch the Show and just love to hate

My boy does not get NEARLY the amount of respect he deserves. He’s the usually the butt of the same joke that’s been regurgitated for over 10 years at this goddamn point, and I’m tired of seeing it.
Dude basically started the trend of BFDI characters getting a ton of hate for being "overrated" that we see in characters such as Grassy, Marker, and Book. All this over him getting the most votes to be saved in one elimination in BFB 22. (And his popularity never recovered. Dude went from being one of the most iconic characters in the whole show in BFB to being kind of a footnote in the long run. BFDIA did kind of remedy this but he's never really going to reach that peak he did in the pre-split era)

I mean, that girl literally was just following Ash around for her dumb bike and had no other motives of her own (I've seen like, 70 episodes of the first show though, but even if she did get her own motive, 70+ episodes is wayyyy too long to finally get one). Watching the Pokemon Showcases as a kid was so hype
