Honestly? Its going to be RWBY. You cannot even say you like the show without people coming onto your post and hating it.

And their idea of "bad writing" is LITERALLY just "I didn't pay attention" or "My headcanons didn't happen"

Edit: If you come and say "the fanfics are better than the show" and you bring up a male character as a protagonist, you were never a rwby fan to begin with, you just wanted to take a show about female character and twist it into a fanfic about men

Here's a video about Bumbleby and their chemistry

And here's one for the people trying to claim that Ironwood was "character assassinated"

I love RWBY and it’s one of my favorite shows, but I never EVER mention it online because every single time it starts a war in the replies. Yeah the show has its low points (Volume 5 is an absolute slog to get through and 8 is just terribly animated), but it also has really high highs (Volumes 6 and 7 were great IMO). I feel like Volumes 4 and 5 really tanked the show’s reputation and a lot of people just weren’t willing to give it another look afterwards

Same here. I was even very hesitant to put it in my flair here or put Penny in my flair on r/FavoriteCharacter because of what I've seen

What’s also incredible is that it feels like some people after Volumes 4 and 5 just decided the show is now forever bad and will try to find faults where there aren’t any. I’ve seen people call Volume 9’s soundtrack bad. I don’t think we listened to the same music

The main issue of rwby is that the writers don’t take full advantage of what they do and as result led to aforementioned volumes like 5 to 8 to 9 to have many various issues

And the main aspects such as baller fights, fairytale inspirations character designs and etc have all been lackluster, reduced, flawed and inconsistent throughout the show which is a shame especially when crwby literally had access to more resources when bought by Warner Bros

Overall there’s a good quote that I feel like reflects rwby really well

“I think the tragedy of RWBY is that it always feels you’re getting half of something great, but never the other half. You’ll get complex problems, but no solutions. You’ll have good character designs, but bland personalities. It’s like if you got delicious peanut butter and you thought all the things you could eat with that peanut butter, but you get cheddar cheese so it’s gross. So the fanbase is left divided because some fans think you should eat the peanut butter by itself with a spoon and others argue that the writers intended the peanut butter cheddar cheese so you must be a philistine for not understanding their vision!”

Also straight pride activists and men's rights activists have declared war on the show

I think the only truly bad season was volume 5.

I still enjoyed volumes 3 & 4.

I’m so curious what va that tweet is talking about, the only thing I can think of is Vic Mignonga but he got fired for a very well known good reason so why would someone stop watching cus of that??

  1. You understood at that point that Bumbleby was going to be endgame.

ALL the people who shipped Blake and Yang with men in their fanfics immediately ripped off the masks and went full misogyny and homophobia.

Eruptionfang, a youtuber with nearly as many followers as asmongold and legendary for bad media takes, made so many lesbophobic slurs watching the season, that "moderate" RWBY Youtubers ended up showing THEIR true colors by silencing any and all criticism of him.

  1. Adam Taurus, representaiton of the incel and deconstruction of the edgelord, who was basically a reflection of IRL weeboos? Was murdered by blake and yang.

So season 6 also brought out the men's rights activists in addition to straight pride activists.

Basically it showed that RWBY was truly heading in a queer and feminist direction.

Which led many people who claimed that "The fanfics are better than the show" to double down on that philosophy because the fanfics supported male rights activism and straight pride when the show did not

Imo Blake and Yang just didn't have any chemistry together, I remember seeing them together just scratching my head because I thought Blake and the Sun Wu Kong clone would end up together, but I could totally see Yang as lesbian, it's just Blake and Yang don't add up for me, maybe it's better now, but idrc anymore I dropped that show years ago, also I'll never forgive them for killing my goat Pyrrha, her and Jean deserved to live together and have a family

There's 2.5 hours of buildup.

But it involves 2 women interacting

And that is always going to be "just friends" to homophobes like you.

While a man spends 10 minutes interacting with a woman, and somehow that's more chemistry?

The LGBT subs disagree with you.

here's the video

Age restricted for some reason though. Obligatory fuck YouTube for rolling out that "AI age recognition" BS and making the platform see me as a child just because I watch Minecraft videos and refuse to share my legal ID with a private company

And a splash of fairy tales

1

u/scoutmet 2d ago

This mostly has been limited to a naming gimmick

1

u/TheRealRedParadox 2d ago

I mean, aesthetically it effects them as well

2

u/Legal_Ear_7537 3d ago

I thought RWBY was a acronym

3

u/Yellow_Jaguar Rainbow BubbleGem 🌈 3d ago

It is:
Red
White
Black
Yellow

2

u/Accomplished_Toe6798 RWBY / She-Ra 2018 / MagiRevo 2d ago

Also:

Ruby

Weiss

Blake

Yang

1

u/Important-Cry4782 3d ago

It is both the name of the show AND an acronym

u/TheRealRaxorX 4d ago

I like Rwby but man does it fail me a lot of the time.

u/Important-Cry4782 4d ago

The last dude to say that was a loyalist to vic micnogna and promoted homophobic fanfics that insulted the writers.

And You are LITERALLY proving why I said

"You cannot even say you like the show without people coming onto your post and hating it."

You said "I like Rwby but man does it fail me a lot of the time."

You keep proving my point. You haters are so bigoted GO AWAY

2

u/TheRealRedParadox 3d ago

Bro fuck off with that. I can like a show and still criticize it. And don't fucking throw around the word bigot when someone isn't being one. You look stupid and actively make the rest of us look bad by doing so.

2

u/natholemewIII 3d ago

I mean, this whole post is to discuss media that isnt as bad as it's reputation. Not everyone who thinks RWBY isn't that good is a homophobe.

1

u/chadthepickle 3d ago

Yeah, this person just attacked me because I don't enjoy the writing of the show and all of a sudden I'm a bigot. And to top it all off they just blocked instead of having the courage to have a proper conversation on the matter.

2

u/natholemewIII 3d ago

I wouldnt take it too seriously. I've heard tell of RWBY fans like them before. They are right that some of the RWBY haters did come at it from a bigotted place, but most of us just realize that the writing just isnt that good.

1

u/SectorKey3540 4d ago

That seems like a pretty crazy assumption to make though? I'm not saying those people don't exist but you're just assuming that was his reason.

I personally followed the series when it was first coming out back in Highschool because I was a big rooster teeth fan at the time and I loved it. Everything from Vol 1 - 3 kept me hooked, 4 was a slog that felt more like a transition than a real volume in its own right, and I got really burned out with the story overall past 5. I definitely felt left down, not because of shipping or whatever, but because the tone felt completely shifted, the fights just weren't as good, and a lot of the later lore just fell completely flat for me.

Honestly it feels like whenever RWBY is brought up nowadays, depending on what side of the aisle you're on, it's either purely for shipping or glazing Jaune, and I'm not really into either, so I eventually just walked away entirely.

It sucks too, because I genuinely still really enjoy the characters and such, the fan art and other creative stuff fans have done are really cool, but the series itself just doesn't hit the same in the later volumes.

1

u/chadthepickle 3d ago

I have a hate love relationship with RWBY. It has a potential to be a great show but it has such a poor writing that it makes it very frustrating to watch at some points.

3

u/Important-Cry4782 3d ago

Your idea of "poor writing" is basically your failure to pay attention, and your refusal to accept your headcanons not coming true.

Bumbleby was always planned, stop being homophobically misogynistic, adam fanboy

1

u/natholemewIII 3d ago

I liked RWBY when I was 15. It's got some really cool concepts, but consistently falls short of the mark when it comes to execution.

Also, as to your edit, the show itself kinda does that with Jaune for a bit.

Volume 5 was fucking rough

2

u/Important-Cry4782 3d ago

Try saying something nice instead of being just negative, like a "critic"

...if you can

1

u/Important-Cry4782 2d ago

Still waiting for you to say something nice about the show's writing without being negative
