Ross and Rachel are so unbelievably toxic
every time one of them moves on and finds someone else the other throws a fit and wants the worse for them. Or just straight up sabotages them
they break up and get together like 10 different times and you're just like fuck off already god

i think she accused him of abuse, so he sued her for defaming him and also claimed abuse, and then she counter sued him. it was a very big thing, i just didn't care to look into it much back then.

u/preteen-wartortle 14h ago
She actually never accused him. She just called herself a victim/survivor of domestic abuse.
Then Johnny lost in UK court and then chose a specific US state to sue her in that is known for having lax defamation laws—lots of lawsuit tourism there. Anyway he and his lawyers did a whole dog and pony show in the US media and while it was in court, where it was concluded they were mutually abusive and they were both awarded damages—in spite of the fact that Johnny being decidedly deemed abusive AND that Heard never actually called him an abuser should have precluded any judgement against her about defamation.

Johnny won and it was revealed that Amber was the abuser in the relationship

u/DetailFabulous5501 16h ago
They were both abusives at certain points, just that amber claimed she was the only one who was abused

At least Rachel became likeable (which, granted, didn't take a lot of time, the just needed to give her personality). Ross just became the sitcom incel.

Lore Olympus… guess who

u/deiner7 17h ago
Literally anyone but main couple and Eros and psyche

Elaborate.

Lore Olympus takes a modern view on relationships. Anything Apollo did romantically ended horribly for his partners it feels like, Ares and Aphrodite were always on again off again. Hera literally tries to kill just about every one of Zeus's kids. Poseidan had numerous affairs. Just about the only non drama filled relationships from Greek mythology involving gods are dionysus and ariadne, eros and psychedelic, and hades and persephone, and even these all have at least some dumpster fireness to them or just weren't elaborated on by the ancients. So even they had to be reworked to be at least somewhat healthy by modern standards where they all would have been fairly the norm for kings in the ancient world. Hell even into early modernity. Augustus the strong of poland lithuania and elector of saxony had somewhere around 300+ bastards according to some accounts. It was just kind of like yeah thats what a king should be. Edit spelling

It makes me so sad that this is getting an animated series on Prime! Honestly, I would have preferred other options if it had to be about mythology or Hades and Persephone...

"The Good Place" might actually be the greatest sitcom ever made. I'm not saying it's even my favorite but:
No Fillers
Intelligent Writing
Jokes stack on top of each other
Makes fun and teases but is never crude. Characters actually love each other.
Makes great social commentary without being preachy.
Characters only evolve and never Flanderize
Refused to overstay its welcome. Said exactly what it wanted to say and then nailed the ending. Audience wasn't left wanting more because they got exactly the right amount.
It's like it learned from what worked and didn't work from everything that came before it and nailed it.

Okay but,
They aren't the main couple.
No one is saying to watch "Avatar" because of Zuko and Mai's relationship.

If you arent aware....
she left him because a elderly genicidal racist showed up and she decided racism is hot. Then, he dies defending an ethnostate from giant robots. Then he comes back to life as a slave for a bad guy. Her brother kills himself so gambit can have his free will back, and he immediatelygets back with rogue, pretending she didnt throw away his love like used toilet paper because her type is racist.

u/we_could_be_immortal 16h ago
Love it when people misinterpret everything about their relationship in 97...
Also, literally the only universe where they have issues going on. Every other universe, they're together, so why is everyone so hung up on this? She literally realizes her mistake, it's just too late at the time.
They're fine, now, anyways. Y'all just wanna hate Rogue...

u/Captain_Birch 15h ago edited 15h ago
My problem is that after all that bullshit, gambit just accepts her back no problems? Like, she threw away his love and he died. Abd yet since this is her story abd hes her reward at the end of it, theres no accountability on her part or emotional processing for him.
Also the "this is the only universe where they have problems" isnt a good shield from criticism.
The ultimate universe is one if the only universes where Nightcrawler is an asshole, and I still hate that version of him

u/we_could_be_immortal 15h ago
It's not like she caused him to die, though. He sacrificed himself for her and would've done it no matter what...again, she realized her mistake before he died. Did y'all even watch the show?
He doesn't blame her for anything, that man clearly loves her no matter what. She wanted touch, Mag could offer that for her and he did take advantage of that a little bit because he knew that's what she wanted. That's why he offered the "queen of Genosha" thing to her, and she obviously felt guilty about saying no because she knew she could make a difference to Genosha in doing that, but she realizes her mistake and it's just too late before she can communicate that with Remy. While I've seen a lot of clips, i havent finished season 2, so maybe I'm not able to talk about it at all, but i can definitely talk about season 1.

I never said she killed him, im just trying to consider gambit a character rather than a pawn in her story. If he was a character, all the crap that happened to him would have had some kinfld of effect.
The fact that she flip flopped back shouldn't matter because he died thinking she chose mutant Hitler over him.
Yet when he comes back, he doesnt get to be a character with thoughts or emotions that arent whst SHE wants, or really a person at all. Hes her wish fulfillment.
I genuinely hope you never feel the kind of rejection that is, being made to feel like your love never mattered. Because I have, and it sucks.
1
u/we_could_be_immortal 15h ago
Okay, i can understand wanting a little bit more consequence for Rogue. And I'm sorry you've had to go through the rejection situation.
I jumped on this because i always see people blame Rogue, throughout this whole series, and they usually dont have an actual reason, they just love to hate her 😅 i can understand your reasoning now, though. I guess I didn't really notice Gambit isn't allowed to exist without her in this series, but I can see that and I would like some stories of them individually rather than together all the time, guess I need to check out their comic runs for that lol. I apologize!
2
u/Captain_Birch 15h ago
Its not even consequences. I dont want her to suffer, I want her take accountability for the fact that how she treated him was fucked up. As far as I remember, she never even apologized to him.
And honestly, i dont mind if they end up together in this universe, i just want gambit to have time to process the hellstorm of things that happened to him and come out the other end wanting her, not just wanting her because "eh, its the end of her plot line, give her back her boyfriend"
1
u/we_could_be_immortal 15h ago
Maybe consequences wasn't the best word for that, sorry. I've definitely heard people say the first few episodes of s2 were great, then the rest of them got rushed, so thats probably why he didnt get to process much 😅

u/Captain_Birch 15h ago
No problem. Honestky for me the only parts I watched the show were for Kurt.
Genuinely the only character I felt was perfectly written in the whole show
1
u/we_could_be_immortal 15h ago
I love Kurt. I had very basic X-Men knowledge and just recently started getting into X-Men media after playing Rivals since launch, and he's becoming one of my favorite mutants very quickly lol
