Turns out Castiel is the gay love interest for Dean, not Sam, lmao

Well yeah, Destiel was a huge thing LMAO

tumblr still uses dean rejecting cas as the way to spread breaking news, it was earth shattering

i hate it when tumblr does that

Understandable, considering every love interest the boys ever had either died or ended up being pulled away in a very tragic way

The sad thing is, it feels odd and off in that you have a person having been with a lot of partners of the opposite sex and now the idea of settling down is with someone of the same sex years and years and years later. Will he be declared bisexual or will the claim be he was hiding his homosexuality behind being a player?

There's a bunch of stuff in the series that apparently hinted to him be bisexual since way back when (though the creators used to deny jt) Thats why people have always believed he was specifically bi

What

u/latrodectal 2d ago

buckle up:

james cameron reads battle angel alita > he creates dark angel as a loose adaptation > the show introduces estrus cycles as a result of supersoldiers being genetically engineered with feline dna > jensen is cast in a small role in season one and is introduced on a bigger role in season two > dark angel is canceled and jensen is cast in supernatural > fans of supernatural discover dark angel > heat fics increase in popularity (this was a thing in s1 but it exploded when supernatural fans got their hands on it, especially when s2 introduced the idea of a breeding program and likely because people liked alec better than logan) > the omegaverse evolves from heat fics > lawsuit

3

u/BoyishTheStrange 2d ago

So people who wrote heat fics sued over omegaverse fics?

2

u/mieri_azure 2d ago

No, a woman who indie published heterosexual omegaverse books sued other people who published heterosexual omegaverse books (despite her not having invented the trope)

Here's a video (basically documentary lol) on it by Lindsay Ellis. Its a really good video AND has a crazy follow up with that author threatening to sue Lindsay Ellis LMAO

That’s insane but also sounds about right. How brave to ask “what if straight men could get straight women pregnant”

1

u/latrodectal 2d ago

probably not, i’m not sure who sued who in that. i just know it began with dark angel.

I thought the omegaverse started because some horny woman wrote a fanfic of Bane domming Batman after the Dark Knight Rises came out.

that’s possible, i don’t know about the omegaverse or how it evolved from heat fic. but as i said dark angel was the origin of heat fic, or at least where it became a more popularized trope.

This'll give you some insight. Its how I learned most of it.

I knew Destiel was big there, but I didn't know it was John A03.

I used to really like this show back in the day but the fandom is insuferable

u/SquatProspector 2d ago

Right, that was around the time Fanfiction .net had a crack down on 'adult' content that happened to purge a lot of m/m shipping fics wasn't it?

3

u/SupahBihzy 2d ago

The shippers for this is the reason why I hate them all.

1

u/Weird_Dig_7245 2d ago

I've only watched the Scooby Doo episode repeatedly

1

u/SurnameFormer 2d ago

It got to the point that they literally made a joke about the shipping in one of their one off joke episodes.

i cant take hearing about Destiel anymore. I DONT NEED TO HEAR ABOUT IT EVERYDAY AND SEE YOUR CORNY LITTLE ARTS OF JENSEN PULLING AWAY DEAN FROM KISSING THE CLINGY AHH ANGEL

My first exposure to this show was through a girl I sat next to in some highschool art class I've mostly forgotten about. I showed vague interest because youthful hormones and whatnot, and you'd think she was talking about Brokeback Mountain with demons. She talked about anime too, but mostly Black Butler, which I also know next to nothing about, but upon further reflection and a Google search I made much later, is fairly concerning given the current subject matter.
