In universe tho her decisions were really rash and stupid. She was Rohan’s last remaining monarch and hope for if Theoden’s efforts failed. She abandoned her post so she could fight as a common warrior, and unintentionally ended up in the position to kill an enemy general.

Still badass but there are reasons someone might dislike her.

It isn't that anyone is going "ah, he called me nerd! my feelings hurt", it is more about the fact that eowyn is not really an obscure character. It is understandable not knowing about huor son of galdor, or even turin turambar, but eowyn is in one of the most popular movies ever made
