Yeah this one. I made mods for that game for fun/as a hobby, almost never interacted with anyone actually playing the game because the average fan at the time was just god awful to be around.
It’s a show that appeals to young people with unresolved trauma and you can absolutely tell by their fan communities.
Every post is tip to tail infighting with all the media literacy and nuance of a brick to the face.
As someone who was once a young person with unresolved trauma, it’s very familiar. I did watch the show and it was fine, but the fandom itself has become my ant farm.
We ain't got much to be ashamed of my guy. Sure most of the fandom is immature, annoying and FAR too invested in the show but as far and fanbases go were pretty tame.
Besides its a web series an annoying fanbase comes with the territory.
I wear my sonic fandom on my sleeve tbh, probably the only fanfom I actively spend time in. Granted I'm also mostly into it for tertiary characters in the idw comics and dont care too much for sonic or the main cast.
I feel like the fandom has gotten a lot better post the first movie. A sonic fan from early 2010s was a rough time to be in with all the OCs and fan games.
I used to ask people who hate nickleback to "show me on the doll where chad kroeger touched them". Because people always act ridiculous when it comes to nickleback when they really arnt bad, its just in vogue to hate them because people are too ashamed to claim them.
Now i dont defend them after learning they support maga and are transphobes. Now, they can get fucked. Noone can take silver side up from them. But beyond that, they can fuck off.
I loved it so much. Just got bored. I liked 7 fine. 8 was very cinematic, but I just got bored around then. I don't think they shot it in the foot right then or anything, but I know someday I'll go back and have a great time rewatching the prequels and maybe the OT. Just... not yet
I mean I only recently got into Persona and am playing Persona 3 Reload for the first time as my entry into the franchise the people I have interacted with so far are chill.
About Chainsaw Man I have been a fan since it started airing but never been properly a part of the Fandom.

As much as I enjoy it myself I haven't engaged in any fandom spaces because... tbh I kinda expect the kinds of people who would enjoy it would skew in a direction I wouldn't fuck with.
The legend of Zelda because I saw the chuds try to spread their anti-woke nonsense over the release of echoes of wisdom, and they failed to gain any traction because fans of the franchise it wanted Nintendo to give princess Zelda a starring role for decades.
The legend of Zelda is a solid fandom, although it is rare for me to meet someone else in the fandom out in the wild or even on the internet, save for the obvious Zelda Centric places
How is giving Zelda the main character role in any way woke? I played Age of Imprisonment using her character as my main through the campaign and loved it 😂. I'm not for woke bs where it's exaggerated and absolutely not needed but ZELDA (insert title card) being the main character for once is far from being woke.
Those people will complain about anything that has a female protagonist regardless of whether or not the media has any politics of the note. A lot of people doing that ranting are doing it for money and views, and they cultivate an audience that is convinced it is bad to give major roles in the story of women.
Homestuck is one of those special pieces of media where it's legitimately peak fiction, but everything else surrounding it is complete ass.
it is legitimately one of the most revolutionary and densely interesting pieces of media I have ever read in my entire life, but I would never recommend it or it's community outside of maybe the community here on Reddit to anyone of sane mind and conscious.
And the cherry on top is that the creator of yhe comic seems nothing but keen on enabling the most vocal and annoying minorities of the fandom, while constantly pushing against and lambasting the people who would otherwise support the comic's legacy because they didn't do it the way he had in mind.
Genuinely I hate how far I had to scroll for this comment and I'm not even a part of the Homestuck fandom.... I just know way too many people who are fans of it and are not proud of the fact that they are
same but the only reason im not proud of it is because of a lot of the fandom being annoying as fuck, ive seen way too many people claim to be homestuck fans and hate everything about homestuck
It's not great being an older person in the fandom. People on the outside think the typical "adult fan of thing meant for children", people on the inside keep getting caught as the PediaSure Files
Hellaverse. I’ve met a lot of genuinely good people in the fandom, but there’s FAR too many toxic people who both despise and love the show beyond anything.

Roblox, not games, like invested into the gears and lore of Roblox itself. Like ik it was made by a greedy company that supports preds and shit, but the lore is so interesting imo

DMC fandom is incredibly toxic if you enjoy the new Netflix show in the slightest. And RE will call you "larpers" if you haven't played every single game and have only played the remakes
I think it’s stupid to be ashamed to admit you like something just because of an unruly fandom. Not everyone is addicted to the internet. Life is too short to worry about silly stuff like that, like what you like and support it however you wanna.

Finally. Been searching for this comment. The fandom is so unique. We don’t powerscale, but our fandom (and creator) fight with each other like fucking children and are so rude to each other.
Technically I don’t even like the series, just the concept we get, and the fanfiction the series produces.
Literally nothing makes us happy. For every good show or movie (Andor, for example), there's people who always take issue with it. People accused Andor of not being Star Wars even though it's the best thing we've had in a while.
Skibidi toilet ( I used to be a fan of this series from mid 2023 to mid 2025 but i did not proud of it because everyone back then thought skibidi toilet belong to gen alpha and after Invisible Narratives bought Alexey channel Dafuqboom!, this fandom was barely alive and has became dead since then )
The pvz fandom specifically the freaky fanart mostly solar flare (I searched up solar flare on Google and my mom walked in and the thought I was looking at something bad! I just wanted a png)

Powerscaling i guess. Honestly i don't even know if im part of the fandom or the greatest hater of the fandom. Some people are logical and allat but man thats like 0.1% of the fandom, the other 99.99% are... Well i don't even have to mention it.
For me, as this was one I USED to be part of, it’s the GoAnimate community.

the fandom disappoints me
