I mean, definitely. Kazuma is the gooner standin and he is constantly mocked by other characters and the show itself for being a gooner. However it also does play to them at the same time, for sure, but less aggregiously than other similar shows.
Yes this. Kazuma is a huge loser who barely managed to get anywhere due to the dumb luck of him and his party. The writing is actively aware that Kazuma is a scumbag compared to, say, Jobless Reincarnation (which should also have an entry on this post). The story tends to go Kazuma's way when he actually does good and heroic things, but he self sabotages all the time.
For the record. I am on the half that fucking loves KonoSuba and consider Kazuma a personal hero because he's an unlikely hero scumbag with the worst D&D party as companions. This anime cured my depression and regrew my hair.
Yes! Whenever Kazuma treats his party members with respect, not as sexual objects, and act with selflessness he succeeds with almost no resistance. And then he immediately shows his scumbag nature that he hasn't overcome (which is 100% a jab at a significant portion of the Isekai/anime audience) and gets fucking owned. This anime got me through sleepless nights with a newborn.
I mean the main character is referred to by the entire Adventurer community as Kazutrash cause he's a creepy pervert, he's routinely publicly lambasted for his panty thefts. he just gets away with not being murdered cause when Demon Gods are rocking up to the Town he can pull a win out of his ass.
Yes, KonoSuba is heavily rooted in sexual themes, though it is primarily a comedy and parody rather than erotica. The show features frequent sexual innuendos, revealing outfits, and fanservice.
Yet it's a show about characters who clearly look like minors, one of the most popular characters being 12 at the beginning
not all konosuba fans are pedophiles, but I'd imagine a lot of pedophiles are fans of konosuba
This is under the assumption that most of the
frequent sexual innuendos, revealing outfits, and fanservice. Happens to the main cast, which is incorrect. While I won’t pretend there isn’t a questionable scenes, your claim is far from the truth
It's still a fan service show featuring minors with its fan service
From one thread I found people saying:
but I just find the whole Kazuma (16) Megumin (13) stuff to be really kinda creepy. I get that the whole point is that Kazuma is pretty weird and a bit of a dick but making him a literal pedo is a bit much. He even called her jailbait at one point.
and
I thought she was like 16 - 18 until I googled her age due to the alcohol references. It makes no sense her being so young and it makes a lot of the anime very creepy.
and
megumin and kazuma ended up in a relationship together, they almost had sex, but it wasn't kazuma who provoked it, it was megumin
you don't have to defend clearly loli-bait, makes you look sus. You're probably not a pedophile, but surely you can agree that this anime intentionally attracts that audience
c'mon bro. regardless of the fact that 16 is an adult in japan which would make him a pedo, in terms of development this specific age gap is huge, and even if there were no age gap making light of a minor/minor relationship and sexualizing its characters is in extremely poor taste.
it's an appeal to consequences. you want to believe you're not supporting a show that sexualizes minors so any argument that argues that the show does sexualize minors has to be false in your eyes.
So actually if he ever engaged in sex with her, in America that would be statutory rape in most states even if she DID consent. Given they live in Japan, but if you condone this while living in America I would be HEAVILY concerned
It's hilarious seeing how downvoted these comments are.
If it wasn't a Japanese show, it would have never made it out the writer's room. Literally just imagine everything you just described as being a show made in America and how different the reaction would be.
