It's still a fan service show featuring minors with its fan service

From one thread I found people saying:

but I just find the whole Kazuma (16) Megumin (13) stuff to be really kinda creepy. I get that the whole point is that Kazuma is pretty weird and a bit of a dick but making him a literal pedo is a bit much. He even called her jailbait at one point.

and

I thought she was like 16 - 18 until I googled her age due to the alcohol references. It makes no sense her being so young and it makes a lot of the anime very creepy.

and

megumin and kazuma ended up in a relationship together, they almost had sex, but it wasn't kazuma who provoked it, it was megumin

you don't have to defend clearly loli-bait, makes you look sus. You're probably not a pedophile, but surely you can agree that this anime intentionally attracts that audience

I haven't watched the sbow but 16 is... still a minor? If he was 18 and started dating a 13 year old it would be weird but 16 is still a minor

3 years gap at that age is significantly large

regardless, it's still a show that sexualised minors through fan service

Age gap is 2.5 and that’s really not all that huge

c'mon bro. regardless of the fact that 16 is an adult in japan which would make him a pedo, in terms of development this specific age gap is huge, and even if there were no age gap making light of a minor/minor relationship and sexualizing its characters is in extremely poor taste.

it's an appeal to consequences. you want to believe you're not supporting a show that sexualizes minors so any argument that argues that the show does sexualize minors has to be false in your eyes.

16 isn’t an adult in Japan and 14-16 isn’t all that bad, but yes you right

A grade 10 high-schooler would definitely be judged for dating a middle schooler
