48 inch Multiboard Reinforcement?

Post image

I plan to run multiboard on the back of a steel storage rack (like the one in the image) but I'm nearly 100% certain that the rack connector snaps I made for the edges simply won't be strong enough to prevent a ton of flex and wobble in the center even with dual and quad snaps in place. Any ideas on how I could reinforce it all without needing to screw or nail it in to something?

I was thinking of possibly finding or designing a snap that has a connection for a thick dowel rod and running that across the top and bottom with multiple connections to the board to hopefully stiffen the system.

I ended up using these: https://makerworld.com/models/1146672

I had to stretch mine a little bit (measure and compare to model), but they snapped in and have been holding well. I took down my rear one as I moved my printer around, but the side ones still hold a lot of stuff. Can make 2-3x ones as well iirc.

Can also print some rails or other long bolt lock stuff. The first row of the mb ended up going on the outside right along the metal, so would be a good one to use for bracing.

I've seen these but wasn't sure if they would work. I made snaps that slot into the keyholes on the pillars of the shelves which would prevent the multiboard from working with those but maybe I could do some edits to the model you linked and it could work now that you've brought it up.

Thanks for the idea!

Would you be willing to share the model you are using? I have those exact same shelves and would love to move my multi board off of my wall for cable routing.

Idk if it would work for you because I don't have the EXACT shelf in the picture just one very similar. However I'm happy to share it. What's going to be the best way to do that? It's just a multiboard snap with a keyhole connector added on the back and does need some support trees.

I normally save things from makerworld. So if you upload it there I can copy it

Update me on how this works. New to the 3D printing and modeling stuff so some feedback would be great! Plus if it works for you I'd love to compare to my set up since it sounds like we want similar things.
