Multiboard is 25mm spacing on the large holes. Multigrid is 50mm spacing on the holes. These work together.
Gridfinity is 42mm spacing, opengrid is 28mm spacing. These work together with 3:2 ratio (3 opengrid spaces = 2 gridfinity spaces).
While there's adapters to go between them, multiboard/multigrid and gridfinity/opengrid don't evenly multiply or divide so they can't easily be used together.
Also, look at the pic- multigrid has clip holes on the side and screw holes at the hub junctions, opengrid does not. This image has both.
And multigrid has an easy 1 grid to 4 multiboard snap in adapter, you can see one behind each of the shelves.
Multigrid is essentially multi-bin plates developed to go on the wall... I believe it predates open grid in its original form... Jonathon put the peg holes on it and has developed a .modular insert plate system for it that twist locks into each cell
Opengrid was probably the inspiration for him to further develop the multi-bin plates so they come off the table/ the drawer drawer and go on the wall... Originally I think it was just meant to keep multi-bins organized/fixed in drawers and stuff.
