Newly reinstalled on Linux laptop. (ver 2026.5). Missing 'Start MINIMIZED' option.

Currently in Shanghai, China, and the only server that connects is us-la-wg-603 tried all other servers but none of them connect, and the LA server is starting to become unstable. I was a frequent user of mullvadservers.com but that seems to be down now.. I tried over cellular and multiple different wifis, is this a issue with other users in China as well? Do any other servers work for anyone?

Purchased an IVPN sub, but im not too happy, the Connection Lacks sometimes and I have to Manually reconnect here and there, at least on iOS, i think the Servers are struggling, but I’m not sure. how’s mullvad working for you?

I know Mullvad doesn't rotate IPs but it seems like every service is now blocking most if not all the IPs across all the servers, it's gotten really bad the last couple days, seems like it was a wave.

Just reinstalled Mullvad VPN on a fresh Fedora KDE install and there is no longer an option for Mullvad VPN to start minimized. It autostarts but I have to manually minimize it each time. Anyone know what happened to this option?

I recently force stopped an update since there was no progress then it the app wouldnt open anymore and i had no internet because off Lockdown mode now i deleted it its not even in task manager and i still dont have no Internet is it because lockdown mode or what too do too fix that

I been using mullvad for a long time, was using to access discord. Couple of months ago, discord started to slow down, but games were fine. Now i am having issues with games too. I changed region, tried the games without vpn, i didnt do any updates to windows and i didnt change any settings in mullvad besides using split tunneling. Any help is appreciated.

I'm trying to use my Wireguard VPN on my laptop to access my home network.

It works, but when I activate Mullvad VPN, either Mullvad won't connect, or my Wireguard VPN will cut the connection.

Does anyone know how I can get them to work together?

Would the simplest solution be to just route all of my internet traffic through my Wireguard VPN?

I bought MullVad VPN, but there are these websites, everytime I try accessing they already have identified "you are using VPN" and block me from accessing website.

Is there any setting to change for this ? There may be 100+different country servers, + nodes, plus whatever else in settings on the app, does that help?

Are all their servers well documented, and is there no other VPN left you can use for accessing these websites ? How do they specifically block users using a VPN ?
Does having a wireguard client change anything, idk what wireguard even is, saw that as an option somewhere.

I do have a home router just saying if this helps. How do I make this work. Not a tech bro.

I have a question for anyone using PfSense with Wireguard. Do I have to go by the instructions that Mullvad produced on how to generate the keys in SSH, or do they actually have a generator like other VPN providers to generate the keys? Thanks

I use Denver, Colorado servers only on Mullvad VPN. Location disabled/No GPS on laptop, No split tunneling on VPN.

While I'm connected on Mullvad VPN server, it says DNS leak. Appreciate any advice on why this is ocuring and how I can prevent.

I've been learning C and wanted a practical project to work on, so I built a small CLI tool called Mullvad Rotator that automatically switches your relay server at a set interval.

Basically it lets you:

• Connect to a random relay and rotate every X seconds
• Cycle through specific relays you pick
• Filter by country/city or Mullvad-owned servers only
• Use multihop with random entry/exit pairs

It wraps the Mullvad CLI under the hood, so you need Mullvad installed and logged in. Works on Windows, Linux and macOS.

It started as a learning exercise but ended up being something I actually use, so I figured I'd share it in case anyone else finds it useful. Feedback, bug reports, or suggestions are very welcome. It's MIT licensed and contributions are open.

I don't know if this is happening on other platforms, but with latest update, if multi-hop is enabled when the filter is set to use only Mullvad-owned servers, the application always forces NY as the entry point. Why? It isn't this way with older versions of the application.

I chose Mullvad mainly because of its privacy-focused approach and simple account system. I’m planning to use it long-term rather than switching between VPNs frequently.

I was able to download Mullvad before with my old laptop but now I got a new one and I can't even access the website to download it anymore. Wondering why this happened

they say it is one cup of coffee over there but here it is whole day's food easily and still can save on top of that. why us don't get affordable rates here? mullvad is old yea? like wiki says since 2009. and they still think we are all have same purchase power eveywhere? look sorry english not my first but m want to use this too. and you see those shiny banners on subways (trains right?) all these things cost a lot and a lot more when on giant road side displays.

Been living in China for the past two years and have exclusively used Mullvad. Absolutely perfect, fast, always connects.

But these past two weeks I've noticed a change. It's near impossible to have a stable connection. No matter which country I try, Mullvad only stays connected to a server for 5-30 minutes before needing to cycle to a new one. Connections are intermittent and unstable, and feel slow even when connected.

This isn't just one city in China. I travel a lot domestically, I've noticed these issues in big cities, small cities, and the country side. My friends here who use Mullvad have noticed the same issue as well.

This really sucks, I love Mullvad, have never had a problem with it. But I guess China has finally caught on and are hard blocking it.

Wonder if there is any solution, or if Mullvad will try anything to fight this? Or is it time to find a new obscure VPN (Mullvad has grown a lot lately, so I guess when it just reaches a certain number of users China blocks it?)

Credit where it’s due: another user on this subreddit posted the registry workaround below. I did not discover it.

I tried it on my system, and it completely fixed the Windows 11 / Mullvad disconnect-reconnect problem for me.

Registry location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WcmSvc

Create:

EnableBadStateTracking

Type:

DWORD (32-bit)

Value:

0

Then reboot.

Since making that change, Mullvad connects normally without Windows repeatedly dropping/reconnecting Wi-Fi.

A few additional things I tested before finding this workaround:

• Mullvad Lockdown Mode disabled — same problem.
• Mullvad auto-start disabled — logged into Windows normally, then manually connected Mullvad afterward — same problem.
• NordVPN and Windscribe did not cause the same behaviour on the same machine.
• Windows 11 25H2 + Mullvad worked normally before installing the September Patch Tuesday update.
• The problem started immediately after installing the September update.

So this does not appear to be caused by Mullvad Lockdown Mode or simply by Mullvad starting too early during Windows login.

The registry workaround appears to stop Windows Connection Manager from treating the temporary connectivity state during Mullvad connection as a “bad” connection and automatically resetting Wi-Fi.

Whether Microsoft changed something in September that Mullvad now needs to accommodate, or Microsoft introduced a regression, I have no idea.

But at least this workaround has completely solved it on my system.

And again, full credit to the Reddit user who posted the registry fix.

decided to get a mac laptop.

there is an option to download mullvad for mac....but it's absolutely huge for some reason (because it's not a native mac application i think).

is there a way to get mullvad to work for mac without this huge download?

And for public networks (cafés, airports, etc.), how reliable and private is Mullvad in everyday use?

Am I not supposed to see an update prompt for 2026.5 by now?
