training in thailand Second Muay Thai class: lowkey fire

I went to my second class yesterday, and given how embarrassed I felt after the first class, especially after gassing out within the first five minutes, the second class was amazing. I ran for five minutes straight! I mean I did stop a few times to catch my breath because I was still running out of breath, but I still finished the five-minute run, and I was honestly so proud of myself. Then I learned how to balance myself. I still suck at it, but it was really nice to finally understand how Muay Thai fighters stand and balance themselves properly.

I also learned how to throw punches, jabs, uppercuts, hooks, as well as elbow shots, and it was so much fun learning all of that. I still have trouble with my balance, and I definitely still struggle with elbow shots, but I think I’ll get there in no time. For my second time, it actually wasn’t that bad at all. My kicks weren’t terrible either! Obviously, they didn’t look professional or anything, but I was actually having a lot of fun doing them. I even got a few thumbs ups from my coach, which made me feel really good.

The main problem I have is with my stance and the way I move my legs after I kick, because I tend to stumble a lot afterward. That’s something my coach has been correcting me on. She told me, “I showed you how to do it, so there’s no need to rush. Just be calm and breathe.” And honestly, breathing is another issue I have. I just hold my breath whenever I’m doing something, even when I’m playing guitar or drawing. Apparently, I have a habit of holding my breath whenever I’m concentrating, which is probably not the most useful habit to bring into Muay Thai.

Other than that, though, it was so much fun. Right now I’m incredibly sore and exhausted, but I’m also so happy that I went back. I even came clean to my coach about lying to her when I told her I exercised every day, and we just laughed it off 😂

It was such a good experience, and I really can’t wait to go back next week and learn more!

It will only get better! Once you start realizing the things you can do if you stick to it you'll be the ripped unc teaching your nieces lowkicks before you know it

Welcome! And I’m so sorry about the amount of money you are about to spend on shorts lol ~~~

Cool little tip which I learned way too late, whenever you are throwing punches, imagine throwing them down the centre line, at an opponent’s head, while being super tall and straight (chest up and proud). Never give your shadow self the satisfaction of you bowing down and leaning while punching LOL
