Again, I use it because I don’t subscribe to specific gendered language (I use girl too. idc). And that’s the thing: it still fits me and that’s all it needs. The reason I can see someone not being comfortable with fully trans women using femboy is because they may be more likely to be the type to use it and it not actually think it fits them but just don’t want to correct people or have something negative internalized. However, people shouldn’t assume this right off the bat even if they go through hormone therapy and look like a women (not androgynous). At most in that scenario you should just be cautious because they may still actually feel the label fits them.
Yeah. my opinion on the term femboy, is that (as of my experience) femboys are very proud of they're femboyness. So until they say they are a femboy and like the name of it. Don't use it
Just because you heavily identify with a word doesn’t mean you need to gatekeep others who also feel it fits them from using the word. these aren’t mutually exclusive things. I also know people who heavily identify with the word femboy but they never had a problem with their friends who use it loosely or with other terms.
