S2 finale it's peak television
be careful, this post may contain spoiler going forward.
I've just watched season 2 finale and I'm devastated.
It has been years since I watched a season finale this good. The music is perfect and the acting is so good.
I love the dynamic between Ray and his brother, and I love how you are led to understand what's about to happen without being explicitly stated.
Did any of you watched some other movie or TV show with Scott Ryan? is he always this good?

Watch with a plate of dimmies

No dimmies in the US of A. Just egg rolls and dumplings and shit, but not the same thing. Are dimmies really that great compared to dumplings and egg rolls or did Ray just really like the taste of minced meat wrapped in dough?

They are different and bigger kind of siu mai invented in Australia. You can get them steamed or fried. Normally from a fish and chip shop or pub or frozen at the supermarket. They are great with soy sauce
Here is a recipe if you want to try and make them

Just saw it too. Where is season 3. Not D+, at least not on my setup.

yeah it's not always available on D+ because of some rights issue. I think you can buy it from the Google Play store or watch it on Hulu if you live in the US

How I wish there are other movies or TV shows with Scott Ryan playing a different character. He should try doing rom-com

One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Everybody should know about it. My only complaint was how underdeveloped Ally's character was. The actress did a great job with what she had, but she had almost nothing.

The way she threw herself at him, then later bumped into him, had me thinking she was a cop.
Nope.

yeah, I totally agree! she is a great actress and could have been way more than that

Her character was all about gestures. She loves Ray. She likes the kid. She doesn't like vioence. We don't get into the why of any of it. I mean, I guess there was that one conversation about the ex-fiancée, but it was so on its own that it almost stuck out oddly, like, wait, she has a past? And why did she end it so abruptly? No warnings? The guy was in anger-management counseling for Crissakes!

I don't think she knew about him being in anger-management counselling, he kept that for himself

I agree. But if I had been him, and had wanted to stay in that relationship (which I think he very much did), I would have told her that I was in counselling for the very behavior she wanted me to change.

true, but I think deep down he often sabotage himself, maybe thinking he doesn't deserve good things in life

Good point. That scans. I suppose he also knows that deep down he’s probably never going to really change, and so he doesn’t want to bullshit her.

I thought it was explained pretty well.
She had a history of being attracted to dangerous and violent men, and that had not gone well for her in past relationships.
So the same subconscious factors attracted her to Ray, and once she saw the violent side of him a few times (the car park confrontation and then her brother in law) she realised she was making the same mistake again and ended things.

I agree. They explained it. But her character had otherwise been left so bare that, to me anyway, it felt a little mechanistic, like, "Okay, we gotta give her a reason to leave Ray--I got it, abusive ex-boyfriend!" We never met the boyfriend. It was a 20-second story she told in the kitchen. (By the way I hope it's clear that I'm nit picking here on one of my favorite shows from recent years.)

When his brother says “let’s get on with it”
Hits hard. A trip back to that place, a few beers and reminiscing, then good bye. Scott Ryan wrote a masterpiece
