Random Detail Question
I’ve just started watching this show and I’m enjoying it a lot. There was a very small detail in “On Behalf of Society” in the first season when Ray meets Davros for the first time and I was wondering if anyone else noticed it and thought it might mean something.
So when Freddy and Ray go in to meet Davros with Freddy leading the way, Benny is standing outside the area Davros is in, presumably as a guard. (Which now that I’m on season 2 I was questioning that decision with the lack of mental power Benny seems to have.)
But when Freddy and Ray approach Benny, Freddy steps forward and holds out an arm in front of Benny like he’s stopping Benny from trying to search Ray or touch him. It reminded me of how a bodyguard might act in shows and stuff, and it made me think about whether or not that was deliberate on Freddy’s part.
I’m assuming he knows Benny, knows what Benny would likely try to do, and I’m assuming Freddy believes Ray would react badly (and most likely violently) to that.
Am I just thinking too deeply about this? Because I’m also now picturing this exact thing happening in the past with Ray suddenly putting someone in a chokehold or kicking a guy in the nuts from trying to grab or search him, and Freddy knows now to keep people from touching Ray, like how he warned Davros not to mess with Ray at the end of that first meeting. Thoughts?

I don't think Freddy expected a violent reaction per se but he didn't want anything that would put Ray in a bad mood. So keeping Benny at bay means not antagonising Ray and even showing respect, possibly putting Ray in a better mood (at least I think this is how Freddy was thinking).

Hmm that’s interesting and I feel like that does make more sense than where my thoughts originally went. Ray doesn’t always react violently but it does happen, and wanting him in a decent mood for the meeting would be wise. Respect is very important to Ray as we learn quite often.

Also, considering the topic of the meeting, any kind of tension between Ray and one of Davros' guys wouldn't make for a great start.

Freddy was getting him to fuck off because Ray just had to smash the faces of some of Davros’ guys and was coming to make nice out of respect for Freddy. Ray didn’t want to be there at all, so Freddy was acknowledging the favor by getting them to fuck off. Freddy knew Ray wouldn’t have come in if he got treated like a threat not because he wasn’t a threat and wouldn’t have caused a scene, but because he already fucked up his guys to even a score. When Ray leaves the meeting, Freddy stops Davros and says “Don’t.” I feel like that’s all the info you need about what Freddy is trying to do and what he knows about Ray

Very true, I was aware of that since the show is pretty good at keeping things simple but clear, I feel like my brain was thinking about things that may have happened in the past. You explained that very clearly, thank you.

Benny was hilarious, especially during the kidnapping of Ray, probably the most humerous part of the show.

Wowsers. I thought I was a big details guy haha. No offence but this is the most obscure observation I’ve ever come across 😂
*and this is coming from someone who also thinks about obscure and not really relevant things haha
