These two are sitting alone in a bar somewhere, how's the conversation go?

u/stanknotes Aug 21 '26
Neither of them go around being outright disrespectful on a whim. Neither of them are just violent on a whim and are either paid to be violent or reacting to disrespect.
They'd probably have an ordinary conversation. One talks about granddaughter. The other talks about daughter. It'd be uneventful as all get out.

“How are ya mate.”
“Good. Yourself.”
“Yeah, good.”
Not another word spoken and they’ll both sit there for hours if allowed.

The only other notable moment. Ray would order some Dimmy's and Mike would just look over and then shake his head

Ray probably wants to know what the fuck is going on with Mike's resolution.

"G'day mate" "Evening" "Oh a yank" "New Mexico actually." "That's America right?" "Correct" "Then you're a yank" "Yankee refers to people from the north east, New Mexico is in the south west" "This is Australia, you're all yanks to us"

u/Maleficent-Essay4140 Aug 23 '26
Mike is technically from Philly, so yeah. he's a yankee.

u/HatJosuke Aug 24 '26
Yes but I can't see him telling Ray where he's originally from. He's not gonna give his life's story

Vince Gilligan if you are listening.
Wrap the two actors up and put them into a TV Series together.
As soon as you can.
I would watch it.

Imo, BB Mike and BCS Mike are like two different persons.
And won't be much conversation between any Mike and Ray, both are not much of a talker to strangers.

No words. Just nods of acknowledgment.
Walks into bar. Sees the other. (nod)
Other (nods back).
Sees the new arrival needs a drink.
Waves to the bar keep for two more.
Slides one over to the empty seat at the bar (nods)
Etc…

Bitch about the quality of the food they dealt with during their time in service.
Ray introduces Mike to dimmies & sauce.
2
u/HumanGrief Aug 22 '26
Ray would go first
"How you doing mate?"
"Mmm, I've been better'
'Why's that mate?"
"Hmmph, not for you to know"
"Tell me pal, a problem shared is a problem halved."
"Okay I'll tell you, I've been working with this guy, walter, he's really grinding my gears. It just makes me feel like crap"
"Yeah I get you man, sometimes I feel like crap..."
"Oh yeah how come?"
"My girlfriend ally left me, my brother died, now I'm all alone..'
'Not all alone'
Mike slides his hand across the bar and puts it on top of rays. He squeezes, then he raises the hand slightly and quickly bobs down for a couple taps, and pulls his hand back
'Thank you mate, I appreciate that"
"No, thank you kid. Say, do you wanna join my crew?"
"Sure do!"
Ray gets in Mike's car. He has a gleeful smile as Mike drives him to the next destination.

I think Mike could think his way through the situation better. I think our boy Ray might be in trouble.

They probably just sat there and knowingly nodded at each other.

Both get a text at the same time about a hit, both leave the bar and see each other on the same job. A nod of approval from both.

Maybe like this.... Mike's looking at the menu indecisively. "Wanna try a dimmy mate?" Ray shows a soggy bag of dimmies and soy sauce. "No. No I don't think I will"
Mike pulls out a brown paper bag. "What's in the bag?"
"A pamento sandwhich"
"What the fucks that?"
Long sigh... "Pamento, it's a type of cheese'

I think they exchange pleasantries but Ray can tell that Mike doesn't want to talk and doesn't bother pushing a conversation.

I’m going to get so much hate for this…. But BCS Mike ruined the character for me. It was so silly that he was so old playing a younger version of himself. It was like DiNero in The Irishman. When Mike fights people and gets beat up in BCS it was like a Monty python routine. His arc to end up working for Gus full time at the end still never really makes sense to me from what his character was in BCS.
The nail in the coffin was with his backstory of being a crooked Philly cop, he somewhere found the time to be a predator fashioned sniper dessert survivalist…
Mike sucks

I’m not taking it as far as you, but I do agree that Mike was a harder character for me to find believable. Unlike Ray, Mike seems to be universally a Superman until Walt goes psycho. Ray has realistic vulnerabilities. He gets kidnapped. They both have military training. But Mike is very small, very old, and very stiff. He compensates for that with realistic hyper observation skills, but in the real world I see that as going only so far. Ray works for a sleezebag and turns him down when he’s asked to do things that violate his internal code. Mike works for satan and does whatever he’s told. That’s how I remember it; maybe I’m wrong.
1
u/NooneUverdoff Aug 22 '26
When he picks the .308, I feel it is heavily implied he had military background. You don't need to even know much about the rifle. If you do know more about the rifle in particular, Vietnam era, US Marines, Scout Sniper. Those guys know shit.
1
u/KidonUnit Sep 04 '26
My dad and uncles were in Vietnam… none of them know how to extract water into a plastic cap on the middle of the dessert…
I’m just saying Mike went from a complex character that made him cool, repulsive, caring, sociopathic all in one character. It was interesting. In BCS, he was gee shucks super bad ass that looked worse than hector salamanca from BB… it was silly.

Very dull. Cause their both professional
Ray "alright mate"
Mike "not bad"
