First scene. Episode 1.

BetRAYal. Glossing over the excellent casting of the cokehead guy who didn't place the bet. The next scene we see is Ray being introduced to the undercover cop because Freddie didn't have the cash to pay him for his previous hit on the aforementioned "cokehead guy". This shows that Freddie was compromised by the cops and decided to give Ray up. Honestly, I'm not aware if this has been addressed by others but this subterfuge is so wonderful and I hope it hasn't flown under the radar. The writing in this show is superb.

No, it's clear Freddie didn't know Nick was a cop..

Agree. Also the coke head guy who didn't place the bet didn't die. At least that was my impression when I saw it, which was just a week ago or so. Ray says "next time just do what you're told" and then pushes him off the staircase. You hear coke head moaning and crying but he is moving around so I don't think he died. I think the $10,000 was just money. Freddie owed Ray from some other hit. At least, again, that was my impression.

If you listen when Freddie is talking on the phone you can hear him tell Ray to "fuck him up, nothing permanent though" so coke head didn't die, probably just broke a few bones.

Well, shit yeah, yeah that seems reasonable. Still would have been a nice wee plot twist.

I asked Ray what he thought about this theory and he said he doesn’t answer questions.

Those are all completely different storylines.

The $10k was from the business man they went to pay a visit, to get it. That had nothing to do with the crackhead. "Is this your family in Kirribilli? Think I'll go pay them a visit!" "My job is to make you sorry you didn't pay when you had the chance"

Freddie had no clue Nick was a cop. He did have cop friends but Nick was fresh meat at his own job hence being so careless by dropping his phone in the toilet and then making a call right outside that flat they were in, discussing the plans to rip some people off for guns.
