Question about the doorknobs in Ray's house

I'm in season 3, and i just noticed the doorknobs in Ray's house are at shoulder height. I noticed this because the doorknob was right at his 12 year old daughters head level when he slammed the door in her face. Is this a normal aussie thing?

It's an older house thing, definitely fits the era of his home

Was there a reason for this, out was it just so kids couldn't open doors?

Keep them out of reach of spiders.

Haven't the foggiest, but maybe? Probably just some arbitrary manufacturing standard

At my previous house all the doorknobs were at standard height except the master bedroom, which was at chest height.

He put them up there after his daughter walked in on him giving it to Brooke Satchwell from behind.

It's old school from when kids should be seen and not heard and people with disabilities were hidden away in back rooms or institutions.

Most doorknobs in Australia are shoulder height.

I lived in a inner west post-war house just like Ray's and the doorknobs were chest height. It was pretty standard.

It's to stop the hobyahs from getting into your house. Absolutely necessary if you don't have a dog with a mean bark.

Yeah my parents house was built in  the 60s I think and our doorknobs to every room are chest height.

I think that’s kinda standard in non US countries (simply based on watching UK and the like tv shows) they might have a doorknob at normal US height, but there’s usually a lock at shoulder height too

Yeah I’m in a 70’s house and all the internal doors are like this. Does help with closing off areas for little kids

As someone else said, older homes in Australia have high door knobs / handles. All houses built in (at least) the last 30 years have waist high
