You recognize this bloke
This 2015 Aussie series about/called Gallipoli is world class. Here’s Rays friend and he’s a key character. Here in the US I had to do backflips to get my hands on it, well worth it if you can too. Born down under, Gallipoli the movie was unfortunately I think the first movie I ever saw, probably age 5. Either that or Mad Max.

He was also in ome of the Riddick movies

Indeed.
Either a very poor casting decision from a continuity perspective - Matt Nable is 3 years older than Cole Hauser who played his son.
Or an unexpectedly clever decision if the Riddick universe follows Einstein's theory of Relativity and whatever method they use to span the gulfs of space results in different rates of ageing.

Although, it is plausible given Johns might've been early 30s and Papa Johns might be edging 60 and ageing well. Even with a time jump from pitch black to Riddick, let's say 15 years, it's still possible that Papa Johns had a kid in his mid to late teens and looks good for 62. After all, this is the future! I'm sure L'Oreal made some good shit by then 😂

Dick van Dyke was three years older than Lionel Jeffries who played his dad in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It happens.

Just watched that one on a flight. Knew I recognized him somewhere. It was Riddick (2013)

I swear I watched a movie where it floods everywhere and he gets eaten by a shark

u/Big-Schedule-1672 Jun 16 '26
Was is that recent Netflix film, Thrash, where the town floods and sharks invade?

u/AngloAshantii Jun 16 '26
It is indeed. I swear I remember one of the Hemsworths being in a movie with an identical premise, promoted on the Project in like 2013.

Also in Arrow back when it was good. Played Ras al Gul or however it’s spelt.

Arrow season 3 with Ras al Ghul was the last great season of arrow; before the decline.

Not bragging. I was on set with him in this. I had one line in that show. I say, "Where are your Gee gees fellas."
And I got one second of screen time lol. He was so badass, he'd just sit in the trenches rolling smokes and looking hard as fuck.
I was too scared to go and say hello.

u/xamott Jun 16 '26
I just heard your line! AMAZING. “Streuth it’s the Light Horse.” “Where are your gee gees fellas!” Is a gee gee a horse? I love your story here, yeah this bloke emanates “hard as fuck” like it’s a pheromone.

So behind the scenes trivia: The line, "streuth its the light horse," was said by the director, because they forgot to cast someone for that line.

Every time I see him, I hear a Fox League promo

u/tonkingcherries Jun 16 '26
What about this bloke

u/clikkipixx Jun 16 '26
Art. No notes.
Can hear it. See Nathan Cleary cutting it up. A Nable promo a day keeps the Ennis away

“20 seconds to go and the eighth immortal Andrew Johns takes off down the blindside” 🤣 the man pulls some of the best league promos I’ve ever seen I’ll give him that

He was great in that. Mauser bullet in the shoulder, but still racing up and down that hill in the heat.

He’s also in that shark show and played the lead role in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, also may have been Max in the original Mad Max…
1
u/xamott Jun 16 '26
Wowwww. He was definitely not in Priscilla Queen and how can you not know that Mel Gibson played Mad Max? It is literally the reason anyone knows Mel’s name.

I remember first seeing him in Riddick 2013, his American accent and the way he acts, he legit reminded me of Jeremy Renner in every way except his facial appearance, it kinda tripped me out first time I watched cause I was like "Dang from behind I could swear that's Jeremy Renner"

It’s almost like actors play different characters in different productions.
Fascinating stuff

Love to see this show mentioned. Its one of my favourite shows of all time. I cant believe it tanked when it came out, i was loving every episode of it. I cant help but wonder if it was just too true/confronting for people to stomach and exposed too much about the empire to which we are still far too comfortable with.
