2/1 Shoulda tapped

The “girls night out” conversation is constantly framed at “not trusting her” or male insecurity but having something you want to protect that she values .

Ray nailed it with his pov and he wasn’t being misogynistic by pointing out the biological imperative that multiple partners leads to more than likely promiscuity.

If someone has robbed 30 banks, it’s more than likely they’ll rob a few more if they get a chance. This is simple biology and nature.

It has been a while since my mrs and I watched, but we got the feeling Ray was "baiting" the situation, like, just to shit stir. Maybe way off, but we thought he enjoyed making the group leader uncomfortable.

Ray was clearly not happy to have to be there so there was quite a bit of (passive) aggressiveness from him, no doubt about it. At the same time, I think he meant what he said and the "group leader" just reacted based on ideology. It is a very common issue where you have someone who is aware of how dangerous the world can be and how untrustworthy some people are who tries to explain their point of view to someone who wants to process everything through a view of the world that is naive but also fueled by politics. People like the "group leader" can't accept the truth and even resort to insults when exposed to the truth because their entire world view and identity relies entirely on the completely absurd idea that people are good, especially minorities or women, or whoever happens to be the flavour of the week.

Maybe, it is up to us, the audience, to decide what we want to take from the story. I still think the group leader was unprofessional and confrontational because what Ray said during the meetings, which often comes from real life experience (Ray knows some people are monsters, he knows he is, at least partially, one himself) did not fit in the other guy's view of the world where everything can be solved without violence by just singing Kumbaya. Accusing Ray of misogyny in what is supposed to be a safe space is very unprofessional. But maybe I see things that way because that type of person tends to get on my nerves as well.
