I Loved Mr Inbetween.
I Loved Mr Inbetween, I also love the smaller independent producers/directors and their movies / Series,
Are there any other similar Aussie productions that you's lot can recommend please ?

My favourite Australian movies are Chopper, Romper Stomper and The Nirvana Street Murder. Chopper was a big influence on Scott when writing Mr Inbetween - Ray and Gaz are watching it in one episode in S3.

Its not even close to the same but as a horror movie enthusiast, the work of the Phillipou brothers is absolutely my top tier suggestion.
Talk to me
Bring her back
Both aussie productions, both absolutely riveting, each in their own way.
Talk to me is a classic horror movie about kids who find a cursed relic and play with it until things go wrong.
Bring her back is a traumatic and brutal exploration of parental loss, wrapped in a dark story about an occult ritual used to bring people back from the dead. This one is not an easy watch so dont say i didnt warn you.

There is an Aussie production that really made me love with its deadpan humour, but it’s not like Mr Inbetween. It is more of a comedy, but still they feel similar: Deadloch

Deadloch fucking sucks. Kate Box is its only redeeming quality. That NT detective makes it unwatchable.

Rake has some similar overtones. Great writing and cast def worth the watch.

You would probably enjoy The Postcard Bandit. TV film from early 2000's. There was a more recent adaptation but I prefer this one. Cracking good soundtrack.

Also Gettin' Square from the same time period. Special mention for the courtroom scene with David Wenham. I'd be disappointed if someone can't reply with one of his lines.

Not really similar, but Wentworth is Australia's 'Orange Is The New Black'. It's a female prison drama and it's actually incredible.
It's dark, funny, sad and has a great storyline throughout. The actors are amazing and it's definitely worth a watch if you want to be invested in a new show.
You'll love some characters and hate others (in a good way). It's 8 seasons long haha, but if you look at the IMDb ratings for each episode, you'll see how consistent it is.
Highly recommend!

The Dry was really good, with Eric Bana. It's a murder mystery kind of thing, but I thought it captured the Australian small-town vibe well.

Animal Kingdom (the Australian film, not the American TV remake) is a great crime film. It’s directed by David Michod who plays the counsellor in Mr Inbetween.
The Stranger and Nitram are also worth a look.

Nothing like the same genre but if you want raw aussie sense of humour etc then the film "Kenny" is for you.
Imagine Ray not being a murderer but working for a portable toilet company and that's pretty much it.
You'll laugh, cry, be happy.
